This book should be mandatory reading for every person on the planet. It does an excellent job of consolidating the various aspects of the drug war and giving the reader a basic understanding of how they all intersect. It humanizes the true victims of the war on drugs, the users themselves, in a way we rarely see in the United States. It creates an opening to have the conversation long overdue in this country, "what if everything we think we know about drugs and addiction is wrong?"
