Esta novela me ha gustado tanto como esperaba, creo que si desde que salió o si sus fans en las redes me la hubiesen vendido como una épica novela de fantasía la habría odiado, he leído que fue el caso de algunos lectores, pero para mí fue desde el principio una novela romántica con toques fantásticos y es justo eso y como tal, funciona perfectamente. Creo que Iria y Selene tienen talento y me alegra haberles dado una oportunidad. Me reí mucho leyendo Sueños de piedra, los personajes son muy carismáticos y aunque es del tipo de novelas en que la mayoría de cosas se resuelven con relativa facilidad y es predecible en muchos aspectos, me ha gustado. Me habría encantado que se explorar más la magia a parte de sólo "mover la varita" y que no hubiese sido todo muy de "colores y alegría" en cuanto a los nigromantes y que no presentara los mismos elementos fantásticos de otras miles de historias, tales como las criaturas mágicas, aún así, tengo intención de leer más de su trabajo y comprobar cuanto más pueden pulir su escritura y crear historias memorables.

I have been thinking about it since I finished this book but I can't decide if it's a 3, 4 or a 5 star read :__

I really liked most of the book, except one part at the beginning when is said that girls almost never make to the highhest ranking academy in the country, I'm still mad about it but I'm kinda okay but just because it doesn't get mentioned again (?. After that, I started to really enjoy the story, Rin is a great protagonist and we can see her development through the book and it wasn't as in other books when the main character learns to be a badass warrior in like a week?? nope, this doesn't happen in The Poppy War. We get to see Rin training and getting beated over and over again and slowly she starts to get better at what she does. She is also smart but she actually spends time doing her homework and studying a lot to pass her exams. So yeah, Rin is a very very realistic character.

As a military fantasy (I think it's the first time I read a military book) it gets pretty twisted and dark at some point. Part III has some specially gruesome parts and if you want to read it you should be aware of the following trigger warnings: self harm, torture, genocide, rape, mutilation and many more.
The story is mainly about war and the role humans have in it, the choices they have to make that often have terrible consequences, part III has some scenes that were so hard to read for me because it was so fucked up that I couln't make myself to continue reading. Although the violence in the book is not a shock value factor but R.F. Kuang uses it to show the nature of war with all its atrocities. This is when I get to talk about what I didn't like, I think it's more because I am still so shocked of what happened and not the fact that it just shows how war is for both bands but there's something almost at the end of the book [spoilers removed] and I guess I didn't like that. It's a shame I can't talk clearly about it because spoilers but now I want to know how the author will develop that in the next books. If she does it in a good way, I will come back and probably give this book a higher rating.

Por lo demás, ha estado bien. La trama, si bien no me convenció totalmente me tuvo pegada al libro. El mundo está bastante bien construido, la razón de porque pasó lo que pasó es creíble. Me ha gustado bastante, aunque hubo algunas cosas, principalmente la narración, que me molestaron. Usaba a veces un lenguaje y expresiones que parecían muy forzados. Las situaciones a veces me parecían absurdas y los típicos clichés que hay cuando hay romance de por medio o una chica con habilidades super especiales que hace que a todos se les caiga la baba cuando están cerca. Me recordó mucho a Cealena de Throne of glass. Y encima, no sólo eso sino que otras situaciones por las que pasan los personajes también me recordaron a personajes de la serie de Sarah J. Maas.

Pero desde el prólogo me decepciono un tanto, creo que algún objetivo tenía R.R. Martin al colocar un capítulo desde la perspectiva de Varamyr, pero si lo tiene no nos lo ha hecho saber y aunque me pareció interesante saber de él, no me atrapo.
Luego un par de capítulos emocionantes y de nuevo el tedio, me aburría tanto que lo dejé como por dos semanas ¡Hace tres semanas aún iba por la página 150! En fin, cuándo me decidí a seguir lo hice con ganas pero de terminarlo ¡Ya! y admito que hubo algunos capítulos que si me emocionaron, me hicieron gritar y ya al final, uno que me hizo llorar...

En fin, en esta entrega Martin nos decepciona un pocobastante, su calidad ha bajado y nuestros personajes favoritos ya no son tan favoritos, no hacen nada sorprendente, sólo se limitan a dar vueltas en el mismo lugar y sin llegar a dónde deben llegar.
Otra cosa, desde el principio me gusto la manera de escribir de George, tan descriptiva, pero acá se torna tediosa, hay tan largas descripciones que cuándo terminas, se te ha olvidado de que estaba hablando al principio. Tengo mucho, mucho que decir de este libro pero, trataré de ser breve.
Lo empecé hace ya más de un mes, tenía muchas ganas de leerlo, pues extrañaba a mis personajes favoritos de esta saga, ya que no estaban en el libro anterior.

He vivido tantas emociones leyendo este libro, y bueno, eso pasa de una manera u otra con casi todos los que leo. Pero Tormenta de Espadas, me ha hecho gritar de alegría, llorar de rabia, odiar a George R.R. Martin.

Tormenta me ha gustado mucho, pensé que por lo enorme que es, iba a haber cositas malas, pero no, lleva un ritmo bastante bueno. En ningún momento lo sentí aburrido. Hobb books always have a slow start, almost 200 pages of Fitz full of doubts, of melancholy and his doing of daily tasks but it's so worth it. Seriously, I never got bored of it, not even once. Nighteyes the wolf, is big part of it, though. I loved his interactions with Fitz and the Fool, I was always laughing with his witty comments and banter. New characters are introduced, Hap and Dutiful were my favourites but I loved seeing old characters again. Fitz's mission has a lot to do with the Skill and the Wit, something I particularly enjoyed because there's still much to know about them. Along with Fitz, we learn the possibilities and dangers of both.

Hobb takes her time to build up the story but then, all suddenly it becomes a turmoil of emotions, action packed, magical places, runs for dear life and fights for the same reason. There's a moment when I couldn't put it down, all I wanted is to know more. And oh yes, let's not forget the sad moments, there's one I saw coming but it was painful nonetheless and I admire how beautifully narrated it was. The first book of The Tawny Man trilogy was as good as I expected. I've missed Fitz & Co. so much and since the first pages I felt at home. It always happens with Hobb's books. Returning to the amazing universe she created is a joy, even though I know I will have my heart broken more than once. I know what I signed for! Fool's Erran takes place almost 15 years after the first trilogy. A lot has happened in the Six Duchies and Fitz has chosen a retired life of the court's politics. But we wouldn't have a story if he stays that way, would we now? So, the intrigues, the past that is best left forgotten and many new dangers surround Fitz again as he has to go on a new mission. Together, with Nighteyes and his friend the Fool they go to new places of the Six Duchies.

But first I want to made something clear: this is not a ground breaking fantasy story because it has plenty of the fantasy tropes we know:
...a Chosen One? Check.
...Good vs. Evil fight? Check.
...creatures already known in other fantasy books? Check.
...mystery character that is a warrior in hiding? Check.
...prophecies? Check.

...and I could include many other things. But you know what makes this special? The way all those tropes are included. It's SO WELL DONE. I mean, there are things I could see coming long before but it's done in a way that keeps stuff still interesting, like, you are actually happy to confirm them; apart from the ones when you only want to die because it's too much to handle but that's another matter.

I knew little of the story before starting to read it but of one thing I was aware of, I was said to prepare myself because characters die. Important characters. Characters you love. But how little I knew about the bare truth of this. This is even worse than A Song of Ice & Fire because in those books, most of the characters who died are secondary or is just lots of people you barely know dying around. But in Malice, NO ONE IS SAFE and when the first ones died I just keep wondering what beloved character will die next. IT WAS SO HEARTBREAKING. [spoilers removed]

My favourite thing was the characters, there are plenty of them (and the names are so weird and from many different places over The Banished Lands) but eventually it's easy to identify them. We get to know at least a little about each one, the secondary characters aren't only noise at the background of the main ones and there is growth in them. And don't get me started on the main characters, they are so fleshed out, so beautifully written that I loved them almost from the very first page. Corban, the main protagonist is so special, yes, he's the Chosen One and all but damn, his growth through the story is so worth seeing and I can't wait to see what else is in store for him, he also has a bond with a wolven and she's so precious too! I love her loyalty and how she protects Corban at all costs.

Some other great characters are the healer Brina and her crow Craft; Gar, the stablemaster and the warriors Halion, Kastell and Maquin. Corban's sister Cywen, who wants to be a warrior and is the bravest girl ever. Corban's and Cywen parents are also great, I love to read about families like theirs, they are very supportive with each other and they love their children so much. A shout-out for characters like Aquilus, Brenin and Alona who aren't blinded by the power they hold and more than kings or queens they are to serve their people. [spoilers removed] I could not mention princess Edana because even though she isn't too developed in this book, I'm hoping to see great things in her future! I'm not mentioning more names but trust me, I could keep going.

I don't want to say much of the plot becuase it's the kind of book when the less you know about it the better. But the story has so many surprises, some you see coming, some you don't but as I said at the beginning, the author manages to write them in a really good way; that's what I think at least. The Good vs. Evil battle I know doesn't look original but the author presents it in a different way. I just finished this book last night and I need to write down how I feel about it because guys, I need you all to understand how amazing this book is! *___*

But first I want to made something clear: this is not a ground breaking fantasy story because it has plenty of the fantasy tropes we know:
...a Chosen One? Check.
...Good vs. Evil fight? Check.
...creatures already known in other fantasy books? Check.
...mystery character that is a warrior in hiding? Check.
...prophecies? Check.

...and I could include many other things. But you know what makes this special? The way all those tropes are included. It's SO WELL DONE. I mean, there are things I could see coming long before but it's done in a way that keeps stuff still interesting, like, you are actually happy to confirm them; apart from the ones when you only want to die because it's too much to handle but that's another matter.

I knew little of the story before starting to read it but of one thing I was aware of, I was said to prepare myself because characters die. Important characters. Characters you love. But how little I knew about the bare truth of this. This is even worse than A Song of Ice & Fire because in those books, most of the characters who died are secondary or is just lots of people you barely know dying around. But in Malice, NO ONE IS SAFE and when the first ones died I just keep wondering what beloved character will die next. IT WAS SO HEARTBREAKING. [spoilers removed]

My favourite thing was the characters, there are plenty of them (and the names are so weird and from many different places over The Banished Lands) but eventually it's easy to identify them. We get to know at least a little about each one, the secondary characters aren't only noise at the background of the main ones and there is growth in them. And don't get me started on the main characters, they are so fleshed out, so beautifully written that I loved them almost from the very first page. Corban, the main protagonist is so special, yes, he's the Chosen One and all but damn, his growth through the story is so worth seeing and I can't wait to see what else is in store for him, he also has a bond with a wolven and she's so precious too! I love her loyalty and how she protects Corban at all costs.

Some other great characters are the healer Brina and her crow Craft; Gar, the stablemaster and the warriors Halion, Kastell and Maquin. Corban's sister Cywen, who wants to be a warrior and is the bravest girl ever. Corban's and Cywen parents are also great, I love to read about families like theirs, they are very supportive with each other and they love their children so much. A shout-out for characters like Aquilus, Brenin and Alona who aren't blinded by the power they hold and more than kings or queens they are to serve their people. [spoilers removed] I could not mention princess Edana because even though she isn't too developed in this book, I'm hoping to see great things in her future! I'm not mentioning more names but trust me, I could keep going.

I don't want to say much of the plot becuase it's the kind of book when the less you know about it the better. But the story has so many surprises, some you see coming, some you don't but as I said at the beginning, the author manages to write them in a really good way; that's what I think at least. The Good vs. Evil battle I know doesn't look original but the author presents it in a different way. Lo que alabo más de Sanderson y creo que es la principal causa de su fama son los originales sistemas mágicos en sus historias, con tres leyes creadas por él y una variedad enorme de formas de magia; no es la típica fantasía a la que estamos acostumbrados, es decir esa donde hay dragones y variedad de criaturas, brujas, magos, castillos, etc. Sino que es algo completamente original, Elantris tiene un tipo de magia (AonDor), mientras que en Nacidos de la bruma, tenemos otros tipos de magia derivados de lo que se llama Artes metálicas; tenemos la alomancia, la ferruquimia y la hemalurgia que consisten en extraer o usar los metales para acceder a diversos poderes como tirar o empujar objetos, ampliar los sentidos, tener más fortaleza física, entre otros o como en la serie El archivo de las tormentas que me parece que tiene un tipo de magia donde los poderes son extraídos de piedras preciosas. Puede que este equivocada con algo porque apenas estoy descubriendo todo esto, así que mis disculpas. Lo que quiero decir es que en cada historia hay algo completamente nuevo y eso es absolutamente genial y bienvenido en estos tiempos donde hay ya poco que no se haya inventado.

El imperio final ha sido un inicio de serie espectacular, admito que tiene cosillas que no me convencieron del todo, a saber, una especie de insta-love pero que luego se difumina bastante y no es de la mayor importancia, también tuve algún problema con frases que se repiten a menudo pero al final, la grandeza de la historia hizo que le diera una valoración más global y me olvidara de esos detalles. La novela tiene dosis adecuadas de intriga y acción, con un buen puñado de personajes carismáticos, un villano como pocos y un world building tan detallado que es imposible no imaginar cada elemento del ambiente donde se desarrolla; desde las brumas que llenan la tierra cada noche, la ceniza que cae durante el día, las granjas y minas o cuando describe el poder omnipotente del Lord Legislador y, especialmente, las escenas de lucha entre alománticos, que son muy logradas y el lector es capaz de visualizar cada uno de los movimientos aunque al principio cueste un poco cogerle el truco al funcionamiento de la alomancia, pronto el autor se encarga que entendamos todo perfectamente.

Quiero alabar el final, yo no esperaba que terminara así para nada y es que todo el libro es una sucesión de sorpresas, una tras otra, cada vez que se descubre algo nuevo es para emocionarse y querer saber más, y como dice Kelsier: "siempre hay otro secreto". Pero madre mía, nunca espere esos secretos revelados al final que dan un giro enorme a la novela y deja el listón muy alto para el siguiente (acá puedo decir que el resto cumple con creces). En fin, ha sido una gran idea decidirme a dar una oportunidad a este libro y puedo ahora decir sin pena que será de mis mejores lecturas del año y Brandon Sanderson se une a las filas de mis escritores favoritos. Si ya lo leyeron y les gustó, estoy segura que concuerdan conmigo, y si aún no leen nada de él y les gustaría experimentar un nuevo tipo de fantasía, no duden en leer esta serie, seguro les encantará.

¿Les ha pasado en alguna ocasión que leen libros de un autor del quién todo mundo habla y lo adora pero ustedes no le ven ese "no sé qué"? Exactamente ese fue mi caso cuando leí Elantris de Brandon Sanderson y posteriormente, Legión y El alma del emperador. No es que no me hayan gustado del todo, además éste último me dejó con una mejor impresión. Aún así, no acababa de ver porqué Brandon Sanderson es tan aclamado. Terry Pratchett y su humor tan peculiar nos trasporta a un mundo de fantasía en donde encontramos de todo. Desde baúles que caminan, espadas que hablan y dragones que aparecen sólo cuándo crees en ellos. Ten el cuidado de que haya mucha fe cuándo vas volando en uno.
Tal vez cuándo empezó está serie no era el mejor escritor del mundo y la historia tiene sus fallos, pero seguro que mejora considerablemente en los siguientes 39... Además, no podemos decir que la historia es lo mejor o es profunda, lo que si pasa es que, te ríes a cada poco a causa de lo absurdo de algunas situaciones.
El color de la magia, ha sido una lectura genial, que ha ido bien como introducción al fantástico mundo creado por Pratchett, amena, original, divertida, con mucho humor, personajes diversos y situaciones muy locas y descabelladas.

Jacob es un chico de dieciséis años que ha tenido una relación muy cercana con su abuelo, este, desde niño le contaba a su nieto fantásticas historias de cuándo vivió en un orfanato, en una mágica isla dónde había niños con ciertas habilidades muy peculiares. También le contaba acerca de su lucha contra terribles monstruos, todo esto, acompañado de extrañas fotografías de época que, claro, hacían que Jacob creyese todo. Pero luego, creció y empezó a sospechar que su abuelo había inventado todas esas increíbles historias y que las fotografías, habían sido trucadas. Su abuelo acepta esto y no vuelve a hablar de monstruos ni de niños peculiares nunca más. Pero entonces, sucede algo inesperado, algo que marcará un Antes y un Después en a vida de Jacob, su vida da un giro total y conocerá la verdadera terrible historia de su abuelo, que de nuevo, ha empezado a decir que los monstruos llegan a por él, cosa que hará convencerlo que su abuelo ya no es el mismo y que como el resto de la familia piensa, está loco.
Luego de encontrar una misteriosa carta Jacob, emprende un viaje, hacia una pequeña isla de Gales, para averiguar qué de verídico tenía todas esas historias que escuchó de niño. Ahí, se encuentra con que su abuelo jamás le mintió y ese orfanato, esos niños, el pájaro que de ellos cuidaba y lo que es peor: los monstruos, ¡existen!
A partir de allí, nos adentramos en un mundo lleno de misterio, magia y viajes en el tiempo, algo que al principio, cuándo llegué a esa parte, me hizo decantarme por la historia pues me estaba pareciendo tan creíble y a partir de allí, ya no, pero los giros que da después hicieron que me olvidara de ello. También el hecho de que haya fotografías, hace que aunque la historia sea fantasiosa, las fotografías hacen que llegues a pensar que lo que lees en verdad puede ser. Hay algunas un tanto impactantes que, al leer la historia y ver la fotografía hasta se te pone la piel de gallina :s

Personajes:
Respecto a los personajes, la mayoría no se llegan a conocer a profundidad, puesto que son muchos y hay otras cosas que contar, pero me han gustado, especialmente Millard y Olive. Jacob, me pareció un chico normal, actúa como alguien de dieciséis, con miedos (demasiados quizá), sueños y lucha por lo que quiere, aunque de una manera un tanto extraña xD. Sus diálogos y la forma en que narra la historia hacen que sea fácil de leer y también le da un toque humorístico.
Algo que hay que destacar, es respecto a Abe, el abuelo de Jacob, él está presente en cierto modo, en toda la historia y eso, lo hace parte muy importante de ella.

En los tiempos que corren es difícil encontrar un libro con una trama original y menos, que sea narrado por un chico. Eso le da puntos extras a este autor.
Al principio, es un tanto lento, no aburrido pero sientes que nunca vas a llegar al tema principal, pues es bastante introductorio, pero cuándo finalmente llegas te aseguro que es muy difícil separarte del libro, te atrapa, cada capítulo te deja con ganas de más y más... hasta que se termina el libro y te das cuenta que es un final demasiado abierto y la segunda parte sale hasta en 2014 :(
Hay que hablar también, de la preciosa edición, una sobrecubierta gris metalizado, con una inquietante fotografía en ella, que le da a simple vista un halo de misterio al libro, esto, cubriendo preciosas tapas rojas con diseños en dorado, con el nombre de Miss Perergrine en la portada, haciendo que parezca una especie de diario. Y por supuesto, las muchas fotografías que pueblan sus páginas.

Y claro, siempre hay alguna cosa mala que decir y en este lo que no me gusto la parte del romance, demasiado artificial, muy forzada, creo que estuvo de más. También pudo ser un libro auto-conclusivo, con un mejor ritmo y un par de páginas más, la historia estaría perfecta con un sólo tomo.
En fin, un libro mágico con una ambientación espectacular, una trama original, personajes que, si no los llegas a amar, son la mayoría muy interesantes, con todo y sus peculiaridades. Y que te sorprenderá más, sino sabes casi nada de lo que pasa. Por eso ya no cuento más xD.

Tuve un flechazo con este libro y su portada prácticamente desde que vi en serio de que iba, recuerdo que escuche de él pero pase, luego un amigo lo adquirió y le puse atención de la buena, me enamoré de su edición, de las inquietantes y atrapadoras imágenes con las que el autor nos cuenta esta muy, muy peculiar historia.

¸é±ð²õ±ðñ²¹:
Jacob es un chico de dieciséis años que ha tenido una relación muy cercana con su abuelo, este, desde niño le contaba a su nieto fantásticas historias de cuándo vivió en un orfanato, en una mágica isla dónde había niños con ciertas habilidades muy peculiares. También le contaba acerca de su lucha contra terribles monstruos, todo esto, acompañado de extrañas fotografías de época que, claro, hacían que Jacob creyese todo. Pero luego, creció y empezó a sospechar que su abuelo había inventado todas esas increíbles historias y que las fotografías, habían sido trucadas. Su abuelo acepta esto y no vuelve a hablar de monstruos ni de niños peculiares nunca más. Pero entonces, sucede algo inesperado, algo que marcará un Antes y un Después en a vida de Jacob, su vida da un giro total y conocerá la verdadera terrible historia de su abuelo, que de nuevo, ha empezado a decir que los monstruos llegan a por él, cosa que hará convencerlo que su abuelo ya no es el mismo y que como el resto de la familia piensa, está loco.
Luego de encontrar una misteriosa carta Jacob, emprende un viaje, hacia una pequeña isla de Gales, para averiguar qué de verídico tenía todas esas historias que escuchó de niño. Ahí, se encuentra con que su abuelo jamás le mintió y ese orfanato, esos niños, el pájaro que de ellos cuidaba y lo que es peor: los monstruos, ¡existen!
A partir de allí, nos adentramos en un mundo lleno de misterio, magia y viajes en el tiempo, algo que al principio, cuándo llegué a esa parte, me hizo decantarme por la historia pues me estaba pareciendo tan creíble y a partir de allí, ya no, pero los giros que da después hicieron que me olvidara de ello. También el hecho de que haya fotografías, hace que aunque la historia sea fantasiosa, las fotografías hacen que llegues a pensar que lo que lees en verdad puede ser. Hay algunas un tanto impactantes que, al leer la historia y ver la fotografía hasta se te pone la piel de gallina :s

Personajes:
Respecto a los personajes, la mayoría no se llegan a conocer a profundidad, puesto que son muchos y hay otras cosas que contar, pero me han gustado, especialmente Millard y Olive. Jacob, me pareció un chico normal, actúa como alguien de dieciséis, con miedos (demasiados quizá), sueños y lucha por lo que quiere, aunque de una manera un tanto extraña xD. Sus diálogos y la forma en que narra la historia hacen que sea fácil de leer y también le da un toque humorístico.

¿Y quién dijo que las segundas partes no son buenas? Días de sangre y resplandor ha superado con creces a su antecesora. Y no que aquella no me haya enamorado, es sólo que ésta ha sido deslumbrante, fascinante y emocionante a niveles indecibles. Con una gama de personajes ya conocidos y otros nuevos, pero perfectamente estructurados, con una trama que supera a la anterior en cuanto a dolor, situaciones macabras y también el lugar donde se desarrolla. Y por supuesto, la exquisita prosa de Laini que te deja embobado y hace que las páginas vuelen. Me ha encantado y hecho sentir un montón de emociones. Ahora sólo ansió desesperadamente la tercera y última parte :')

Un final bastante acorde a una excelente trilogía, eso sí, me ha decepcionado un poco ciertos aspectos que me hicieron rodar los ojos un par de veces. También odio un poquito a Abercrombie por lo que hizo con uno de mis personajes favoritos. O dos, depende como se mire. Y también darle muerte a algún personaje para solucionar el problema de otro me pareció algo tonto.

Por lo demás, la trama ha seguido el curso de los libros anteriores, tenemos dos nuevos personajes a los que es imposible no amar. Y los personajes principales e incluso un secundario de los libros anteriores siguen teniendo una excelente participación.

Me sorprendió muchísimo la evolución de Yarvi, Padre Yarvi desde el segundo libro; se le puede tomar como héroe y villano y eso me ha encantado. Eso sí, cuando le dan de su propia medicina llegando al final no pude reírme más. Eso fue BRILLANTE Joe.

El final puede decirse que es semicerrado, porque luego de terminar el asunto, da la sensación de que seguirá habiendo más, pero sólo ha sido una conclusión bastante pacífica. La historia da para más y yo encantada sí Joe decide seguir escribiendo. Creo que saldrían excelentes historias de la travesía del Viento del Sur con su nueva capitana.

Algo más que también me decepcionó es la poca historia antigua que hay, yo esperaba que hubiese más información sobre los elfos, o al menos, de la famosa Ruptura de la Diosa que no logre comprender bien. ¿Quién es esa Diosa? ¿No lo mencionan o lo hicieron y ya no me acuerdo? o.O Espero tener respuestas a esas preguntas.

No le doy las 5 estrellas porque los personajes son muy típicos de este tipo de libros, me recordaba mucho a Harry Potter y Percy Jackson, no es que parezcan copias sino que elementos de su personalidad o situaciones que les sucedían me recordaba a esos libros, de igual forma, Joel me gustó muchísimo.

En El pistolero, la primera parte de la saga La torre oscura, escrita por el rey del terror Stephen King (yo siempre he pensado en que muchas veces los apellidos están estrechamente relacionados con las personas, King demuestra que mi teoría es cierta). En fin, tenemos a un hombre de negro que huye a través de un desierto y nuestro pistolero, Roland Deschain va en pos de él. A lo largo de su recorrido, Roland pasará por muchas cosas, se detendrá a descansar en un pueblo llamado Tull con el fin de obtener información sobre su enemigo (el hombre de negro) ahí conoce a Allie y hace que le proporcione la información que necesita, pero sucederá algo que hace que le toque salir precipitadamente del lugar, no sin antes dejar un desolador panorama de muerte y destrucción. Y así, Roland seguirá su camino, se detendrá en una estación de paso, dónde contará lo que paso en Tull a un señor, para luego seguir con su travesía hasta que se encuentra a Jake, un chico que dice ser de un mundo totalmente desconocido para Roland y se unirá a este en su viaje.

Al principio no tenemos ni idea del porque Roland persigue al hombre de negro ¿quién es el hombre de negro? ¿por qué lo persigue Roland? ¿Qué le hizo a este? y lo más importante, al menos eso fue lo que me pregunté al principio ¿Quién es Roland? Pero lo único que tenemos en los primeros capítulos son pequeños retazos de su aparente oscuro y duro pasado.

Si la historia tratara de cada una de las 'aventuras' de Roland a través del desierto, fuera terriblemente aburrida, pero no, no va siempre acerca de eso, a menudo tenemos flasbacks, dónde este cuenta, ya sea a Allie, a Jake o por medio de sueños, vestigios de su pasado, no sobre él, sino cosas que le pasaron. El libro se divide en 5 capítulos que a su vez se dividen en aproximadamente 13 partes. En cada capítulo Roland le cuenta a la persona con la que se encuentra en ese momento, algo que le sucedió antes de empezar a perseguir al hombre de negro.
Y así toda la historia, los primeros capítulos pueden ser bastante pesados, pues no sabemos mucho de Roland, ni que hace o porque lo hace, pero conforme avanza nos encontramos con situaciones bastante emocionantes, las cuales han hecho que me haya leído el libro en poquísimo tiempo, también ayuda que es pequeño, mi edición apenas llega a 292 páginas. Muchos dicen que es el más flojo de la saga y el que menos gusta, supongo que así es, el mismo Stephen King lo dice en la introducción que tiene mi edición: dice que, al completar la historia decidió leerlos todos y se sintió muy mal al ver lo que había hecho en el primero xDD

Algo que dije cuándo terminé de leer fue que no podría ser objetiva totalmente con este libro. Y es cierto. Créanme, hace meses, -creo que desde Tormenta de espadas :c- que no leía algo que me mantuviera terriblemente enganchada y este, lo ha hecho. Desde el principio, a pesar que a veces me costaba entender las ideas de King sobre el universo -especialmente la quinta parte de el último capítulo, me reí un montón con eso, es que tal vez sea mi inexperiencia con King o qué sé yo, pero es lo más loco, inverosímil hilarante y fumado que he leído en mi vida- yo lo que más deseé a lo largo de la historia fue avanzar y terminar a la de ya, pero también cuándo veía que apenas faltaban páginas, deseaba mucho que tuviera más.

Sí hay algunas partes no tan deslumbrantes, principalmente cuándo va con Jake, esto es a partir de la tercera parte, lo sentí bastante flojo en comparación con la primera y segunda partes que son sublimes, fue incluso aburrida. Ya al final, dónde por fin sucede lo que esperamos a lo largo de la historia y logramos entender un poco más a Roland y sus objetivos y es ahí, en la mejor parte dónde se queda y eso, solo hace que quiera más de Roland y de su historia con más ganas :c
Aunque Roland, por el momento para mi es sólo un tipo normal, pues apenas se sabe algo de él, sólo lo que deja ver y es realmente poco, si me parece un personaje interesante de conocer, algo que me gustó mucho es la personalidad que le da King a sus personajes, el perfil psicológico, hace que te metas en la piel del personaje y que sientas sus miedos, sus alegrías, sus tristezas, todo.

La narración de King es simplemente espectacular, es principalmente eso lo que me ha gustado del libro, el poder que tiene de hacerte imaginar totalmente todo, eso es un gran logro y amo leer libros así. Algunos dicen que cuesta cogerle ritmo a la escritura de King y puede ser tediosa, pero a mi me ha encantado, he entendido prácticamente cada cosa y lo he leído en poco tiempo. Y por supuesto, no se debe dejar de lado la ambientación, un mundo fantástico combinado con western y a mi me fascinan este tipo de historias del viejo oeste, así que El pistolero fue una gran alegría para mí.

En fin, El pistolero es un inicio de saga que, a pesar de sus deficiencias, logra enganchar, quizá a algunos no, pero dicen que sólo este es el malo y que en los siguientes el listón no hace nada más que subir y subir. Sí hay algunas partes no tan deslumbrantes, principalmente cuándo va con Jake, esto es a partir de la tercera parte, lo sentí bastante flojo en comparación con la primera y segunda partes que son sublimes, fue incluso aburrida. Ya al final, dónde por fin sucede lo que esperamos a lo largo de la historia y logramos entender un poco más a Roland y sus objetivos y es ahí, en la mejor parte dónde se queda y eso, solo hace que quiera más de Roland y de su historia con más ganas :c
Aunque Roland, por el momento para mi es sólo un tipo normal, pues apenas se sabe algo de él, sólo lo que deja ver y es realmente poco, si me parece un personaje interesante de conocer, algo que me gustó mucho es la personalidad que le da King a sus personajes, el perfil psicológico, hace que te metas en la piel del personaje y que sientas sus miedos, sus alegrías, sus tristezas, todo.

La narración de King es simplemente espectacular, es principalmente eso lo que me ha gustado del libro, el poder que tiene de hacerte imaginar totalmente todo, eso es un gran logro y amo leer libros así. Algunos dicen que cuesta cogerle ritmo a la escritura de King y puede ser tediosa, pero a mi me ha encantado, he entendido prácticamente cada cosa y lo he leído en poco tiempo. Y por supuesto, no se debe dejar de lado la ambientación, un mundo fantástico combinado con western y a mi me fascinan este tipo de historias del viejo oeste, así que El pistolero fue una gran alegría para mí.

En fin, El pistolero es un inicio de saga que, a pesar de sus deficiencias, logra enganchar, quizá a algunos no, pero dicen que sólo este es el malo y que en los siguientes el listón no hace nada más que subir y subir. Si te gustan las aventuras del viejo oeste, dónde hay criaturas malignas, con oscuridad y magia por ahí y allá y con una narración envolvente, este es tu libro.

En mi reseña de Crrown of midnight dije que había mejorado muchísimo en comparación con el primero, este en parte lo hizo y en parte no, o más bien estuvo al mismo nivel, entonces ¿porque le puse más puntuación al anterior si me gustaron igual? Lo que pasa es que por ratos había partes más lentas, también tuve un problema con la parte de las brujas, que si bien me interesaba y me gustó, sentí un poco de cariño y admiración hacia Manon y Abraxos, que a pesar de que son malas (las brujas) tienen sueños y deseos y la verdad es que me ganó, pero pasaba que justo aparecían cuando las partes de Cealena, Chaol, Dorian y los demás estaban más interesantes y eso hacía lenta la lectura y me desesperaba, además que no es como si las brujas hayan aportado mucho. Pero estuvo bien porque es parte de ese mundo y me encanta que la autora haya hecho un espacio para explicar estos detalles.
Pasando a lo que interesa, sólo diré que hacía rato que un libro juvenil no me dolía tanto, no me emocionaba tanto, o gritaba de alegría o me llevaba tantas veces al borde de las lágrimas, ya sea de tristeza o de alegría, los últimos de fantasía juvenil que leí sólo eran un: está bien. Pero como dije al inicio, Sarah J. Maas es grande, sabe lo que hace, creo que si el primero no hubiese parecido tanto una sátira a los libros de fantasía épica, esta saga tuviese más seguidores.
A ver, vamos por partes, la Asesina se va de viaje, en una misión para el Rey, lo que no sabe el Rey es que sus enemigos están planeando otras cosas para la Asesina. Ésta llega al país de las hadas, donde tiene que entrenarse para poder ir a la ciudad dónde las hadas habitan, dónde la reina de las hadas le ayudará con las respuestas que necesita, para eso tiene que entrenar CON UN HADO PRECIOSO QUE AY, ME TIENE ENAMORADA -perdón, esa fue mi parte fangirl hablando- PERO ES QUE EN SERIO, ES PRECIOSO Y ADORABLE Y UNA GRAN GUERRERO BIEN BUENO xD Al inicio es odioso pero se le coge cariño :3 La Asesina está destruida por los acontecimientos del libro anterior y tal vez es está otra razón por la que el libro decae, pero hay que entender a la chica pues ha pasado por mucho, pero al final, sigue demostrando esa fuerza que la caracteriza, el deseo por vivir, de buscar venganza para los que creen en ella y saldrá poco a poco adelante, también revelando más de su historia, de como se convirtió en lo que es, en la máquina de matar que le ayudo a sobrevivir por 10 años y es brillante, de verdad, me gustó muchísimo está nueva etapa de Celaena, como poco a poco va superando cada obstáculo, como demuestra que en verdad es una guerrera y va a hacer lo que sea por ayudar a terminar con el yugo de un tirano.
También hay un desarrollo por parte de los otros personajes, Dorian y Chaol y otros más que van apareciendo, como Aedion, que nos da un par de sorpresas. Y es acá dónde también hay dolor, el rey no tiene un poco de misericordia para nadie y su hijo es uno de los que más sufre, lo que me hizo sufrir también a mí, muchísimo.
En éste también seguimos descubriendo cosas, del poder del rey, sus planes para dominar completamente Erilea e incluso otros mundos, el origen de su poder, también porque ya no hay magia en el continente, la guerra y otras cosas más.
En fin, que ha sido una excelente continuación y me muero por el siguiente y por saber como le irá a Rowan , Chaol, Dorian, Celaena y todos mis queridos.]]> 4.47 2014 Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3)
