I was not a fan of this book. I didn’t understand the world, the rulers and the class system. Even the magic and First Light. There just wasn’t good world building. This had nothing on her other series. Not only that but I didn’t understand the friend Fury. What was her point in here. She was more of a plot device with no substance. Also the Demon lord... it seemed he would have a bigger part but nope! I mean all the talk about Demon lords but that just disappeared. The krystollos demon? No point... ugh.

There is so much more to discuss; character development, random sex, drug use.

Needless to say I will not be reading the next one in the series when it comes out.

It started to get a little bit better around 100 and I gave it to about 145 but it just hasn't grabbed me yet and honestly I just don't really care about these characters. I remember feeling the same with the Otherworld (was that the name of his series?) first book so maybe I'll pick it back up again one day when I don't mind giving it more time.

It started out good. The MC had a great little set up but then it all went to crap. Stupid mistakes, no surprise love story. She goes from self reliant to super dependent. I lobed how they started talking about her anxiety more than halfway through the book like it was a major part of her character when there was hardly any mention of this. The MC was just annoy. The premise, in the beginning, made it seem like her healing abilities were going to play a major role but then they were forgotten, it seems, for more than a quarter or half the book. There is so much much to complain about�. So, no. I will not be reading the next one in this series.

Not a bad book. It kept me reading, but it was pretty predictable. I called all the “little surprises� in the beginning of the book. Ever. Single. One. Not sure if I will read the next book. I still don’t understand why the mc was put in prison with her father unless they knew� that part was not explained well at all. If “they� knew then you would think her imprisonment and her dads would have been very different.
