I start by saying that this is CoHo genius, like her previous books. She has a style and quality to her writing that is just mind bending and so perfectly executed. Her stories are unique, no two ever alike and her characters stay with you long after that last paragraph was read. Confess, was no different.

The Story of Auburn Reed and Owen Gentry is no different. Here we have 2 characters who are strangers from hundreds of miles apart. Life circumstances put them in the same space of heartache for a short period of a time. Never meeting, never knowing one another, yet that time in their lives was pivotal to their future. I would love to give a recap of the story in itself, but to do that would ruin the whole experience of reading a CoHo masterpiece...so i will leave it at that vague description.

I can say with 100% confidence that there is no better story teller, IMO, than this author. She brings emotions to a whole new level. The written moments of first looks, first touches, first kisses, last goodbyes...everything is just pivotal and profound. Her books, especially Confess, captivate me to the point where I cannot do anything but finish in one sitting. The most amazing thing about this read is the whole "concept" of the story and the stunning/beautiful artwork that encompasses the tale. What a creative way to enhance the pain, pleasure, beauty, and despair that Owen and Auburn experienced along with those around them.

So what was my problem...IDK...honestly I just wanted a bit more at the end. I waited way over the 70% mark for the peak of emotions...the surrender of fate. From that point on I was edgy and tense, racing to the end to get some relief. And, yes, while there is a conclusion it just came a bit too easy...too abrupt. The whole buildup...the final "Confession" if that is what it even was (perhaps more a truth) for me was the most important reason for it all. I kinda liked this a lot, yet strangely enough, I kinda had no real idea of WTF was happening! Perhaps I should have read the "glossary" or terms in the beginning of the book, but just like the cover, the story sucked me in.

Kinda profound right? who cares if I had no flipping clue what a Talde was right?



My quick synopsis: This is obviously a paranormal read. This story has vamps, healers, and Scars(immortal warrior that are somewhat guided by senses/emotions). The story spans eons of time with scenes of torture, death and despair witnessed by a 10 yr old healer, Breanna and a young Scar, Jasper. Present day and a young Breanna/"Max" is finally free of the hell she had endured as the slave healer to a very bad Scar. She keeps to herself and keeps her emotions at bay in attempts to keep her "healer" status hidden. Enter Jasper, Scar assassin, and bad boy sexy talking alpha. He wants Max...first for a job, you know to kill her. But then he was having too much thought and too much fun. Oh snap before you knew it, he wanted her forever. She just wasn't sure what exactly Jasper was about!

So the basic problem here in this tale is that while Jasper takes the job of Max he is torn between keeping her safe and completing his assignment of her death. Seems like there is something way bigger that just taking a run of the mill healer right? Well, Max is beyond special in more ways than one! So, Wild chases, lots of hard smack talking, and finally steaming hot body claiming. The game has changed and no one will TAKE Max from Jasper!
