Most woodworking joint books I come across focus on western style joints. This book, although short, covers joints from "the orient" (japanese, etc), as well from the west. It is a good reference and not a how to. It is very systematic and covers a lot.

I'd say it is somewhat applicable to furniture making, but timber framers and other craftman will really like it.

I read this book because I had a slight interest in making frames. What surprised me was the vast amount of techniques that I'd never seen before in traditioinal hobby-woodworking materials. Even if you're not into making frames, these finishing techniques will be illuminating.
