also, she ended this book with NO closure WHATSOEVER. is she getting back with cal or not? make up your mind because i wanted to know.

this book will forever be timeless. it's beautifully written and the characters are so deep and easy to love and understand.

katniss' relationship with her sister may not be very realistic, but the protective and loving feelings she has for her are very much so. suzanne collins KNOWS how to write dystopian sisters, and i will preach this fact until the day i die.

this book will forever be timeless. it's beautifully written and the characters are so deep and easy to love and understand.

katniss' relationship with her sister may not be very realistic, but the protective and loving feelings she has for her are very much so. suzanne collins KNOWS how to write dystopian sisters, and i will preach this fact until the day i die.

i thought that this was a really interesting and creative plot, and i liked it a lot. EXCEPT for aaron.

aaron is anastasia's skating partner, and he is one of the most obnoxious and hateable characters who was ever written. he constantly fat-shames anastasia and is a jerk to her throughout the entire book. then, he thinks it's okay to KISS HER??? he is literally so disgusting.

the opposite of aaron would have to be henry, who is one of nate's skating partners and incredibly sweet and kind and caring and wonderful. he literally has period supplies on hand for any woman who needs one. i mean, come ON.

nate and anastasia's relationship was also really cute. he was so supportive of her and so nice to her, even when she hated him. and yes, the smut was good. it was very well-written.

3 reasons why i loved this book:

#1: CAPTAIN CARSWELL THORNE. i knew i was going to love him from the moment cinder fell into his jail cell. i love every piece of dialogue from him (and i love his spaceship too - did you know that the rampion is actually a plant that was eaten in popular variations of the rapunzel story?) and i love how he chose to stay with cinder before he knew she was the lost princess and i just love his entire character.

i really don't know what to say about this book except for the fact that it was very awkward to read.

specifically, the parts where levana LITERALLY SEXUALLY ABUSES her boyfriend and then HE feels like he's a bad person??? that is literally so weird.

i'm not ranking this low because it was bad writing. i'm only ranking it low because it was just so weird to read that i kinda hated it. marissa meyer still did a very good job on levana's villain orgin story.

also i did not really feel for levana. like, ever. (except for when her sister pushed her into a fire before she was old enough to be a bad person.)

i ended up being pretty indifferent to channary (even though i'm pretty sure the book was supposed to make us hate her). yes, i know she pushed levana into a fire. i will hold her accountable for this because levana was only a child. however, levana simply made herself more and more unlikable as the book went on. she didn't care when her parents died. she threw her niece into a fire to die. she was happy when evret's wife died because then she could date him. she killed her own husband. not to mention countless other things.

besides throwing her sister into a fire, the worst thing channary did throughout the entire book was not run the country very well. that's it.

also the end where levana literally had her own husband murdered because she thought that marrying the emperor of new beijing would benefit her country?? that was pretty weird, but she wasn't wrong about the fact that she would do what she thought was best for luna no matter what...
