This is my second Malcolm Gladwell book and it has me wondering why it took me so long to pick another one up. I first read David and Goliath years ago and it was fascinating. Talking to Strangers was no different. If you want to take a deep dive into perception and personal interactions - grab this book. Somehow, Gladwell can take cases and stories like Jerry Sandusky, Bernie Madoff and Sylvia Plath and weave them all together into an introspective look at how we interact with those we don¡¯t know.

Actually, I listened to the audiobook first and I have to say, the minute it started and I heard Bren¨¦'s voice, I let out a sigh and settled in like I was welcoming back an old friend. I love her logic. I love how she breaks things down. I love how she's not ashamed or afraid to swear when talking to us. She's authentic. She's not afraid of the tough subjects and with Braving the Wilderness, I now feel like I can start talking about tough subjects without as much trepidation or fear.

It made me think twice about how I handle conflict and power struggles with them and has truly changed how I approach these instances. It's made me take a second look at "unfavorable" behavior, to dig deeper into why it could be happening. I listened to this on audible, and quickly purchased a hard copy so I could go back to it when needed.

A good reminder to disconnect and focus on those around you - not getting sucked in to your phone or computer. I think it's a lot more applicable for those who either work for themselves/make their own hours - and not as relatable for those who are on call a lot of the time out of work. HOWEVER, I think it's good for anyone who needs to be more conscious of the time they spend getting sucked in to technology that isn't enriching their life or helping them get stuff done.
