Pollock wrote with strong prose a powerful,haunting story about residents in two rural communities. It was different how he had many POV characters, some that you read about in few pages and never read about them again. It made the story less predictable and more real with many authentic characters. There were only a few clear main characters.

This series might look like non stop Samurai action,epic story but the strenght of the writing is how much the story shows less romantic,more realistic view on Samurai era,culture. The normal people that didnt thrive under the caste,honor system of the Samurai.

Saitama is the hero for fun in this, the funniest manga i have ever read and at the same time the best action/superhero like story in years. I loved the anime for the same reasons,the parody,the very off beat and suprising humour.
The anime is known for having high quality animation in season 1 but the manga has even better art, more forceful energy,the artist can draw the action,the heroic poses,the silly humour scenes as effortlessly, in a very high quality. I had read the first 3 issues of Hitman collected in this volume before but not The Demon Annual special where Tommy made his debut and the Batman Chronicles issue. I'm reading this series now because i have waited 5,6 years for DC to start reprinting volumes of the series.

I read this yesterday stuck for 3 hours in some desert airport in Yemen in Riyan on my way to east Somalia. Thankfully this was the best Quarry book I have read so far. Crisp prose,clear strong voice of Quarry who had his nasty,witty humor while he was being ice old killer. These books are short but like The first Quarry was near perfect story for this type of novel. The mystery of who put the contract on Art Stockwell had me guessing until the end.

This contains both Faust part 1 and part 2 and its a play that was something special to read mostly because Goethe's prose was so poetic, great use of languge, words. That and its a very smart,classic in its use of ancient Greek,Roman myts,literature. It was never hard, challenging to read because the alliusions, references didnt feel forced, too abstract except early in Faust part 2. The first two acts of the second part was little harder to read and too much going on at once. That was the only reason i thought about rating this book 4 stars and not 5 because the rest was brilliant writing.
