For once, Auburn takes a chance and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is hiding a huge secret. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything Auburn loves most, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it—but can she do it?]]>

«I laugh, and the tenderness that enters his eyes at the sound of my laughter makes me realize that this is what I want. Selflessness. It should be the basis of every relationship. If a person truly cares about you, they’ll get more pleasure from the way they make you feel, rather than the way you make them feel.»

In this book, art meets confessions.

Kudos to this amazing artist, Danny O' Connor who did all the paintings for this book (). And kudos to Mrs. Hoover for always writing the best-est of books.

This book. This novel right here is possibly one of the best books I've ever read. If not then it surely is the best book for 2015. And how do I know this? Possibly from the endless river of tears that's running down my face as I'm writing this review because I'm too hang up on the emotions and thoughts this book instilled in my heart, in my soul.

Auburn lost her first love at the age of 15. You'll say to me: "How can you be able to know what loves feels like when you're just 15 and you can't possibly tell the difference between love and excitement?" And I will turn and look you in the eyes and say "You know it because every time you look at that person you feel the earth moving beneath your feet. Feel your heart shake a little at the touch of your hands. Feel your mouth go dry when they smile at you.". That's what more or less Auburn felt about Adam the boy who loved her so much. It was beautiful, they were beautiful.

Now she's almost 21 years old and she's new to a town and she feels like her life is horrible. No she doesn't feel it, she knows it deep in her heart that she's miserable through and through. What happens when she is desperately looking for some extra money and happens to see a piece of paper out of a Dallas art studio reading clearly that the person who wrote it wants someone to work for him.

What are the odds, though, that the man owning the art studio is named Owen Mason Gentry and how can it be that they both have the same middle name? Auburn's full name is Auburn Mason Reed. It must be fate. Right? Right.

Owen is very talented, he is 21 and a successful artist. He opens his studio only once a month while the rest of the days he keeps painting and painting as long as he doesn't run out of inspirations and each month he needs someone in order to keep the tabs on the paints that are being sold. It just happens that the last person he employed became his girlfriend and it just so happens that she broke up with him and left him with no accountant. So, he's a tad bit desperate. When he sees her at his door, disbelief is the first emotion that courses to him right after saying, «Are you here to save me?».

Owen has a very special way of painting, of getting inspiration and it's actually very unique. He has a box in which people put confessions in anonymously and then he turns those confessions into paintings. Owen is so fascinated by the interest Auburn shows in his paintings and how she admires and understand and feels his art. I think that's when he fell a tad bit for her. If not, he sure as hell wanted to get to know her.

I do not want to divulge deeper into the plot for fear of ruining it for those of you who haven't read the book. There's a twist around the middle of the book which I personally didn't see coming. And it made everything that much more complicated. Adam left her a little present before passing away.

What's mind-blowing about this book is that it's full of confessions. Confessions from strangers. Confessions from our characters. Truth cannot only ever be liberating it can also be devastating. You have to be sure, make sure that what you're going to confess, it's your confession to make, your truth to give away.

«Some secrets should never turn into confessions.»

Auburn and Owen have a lot more in common than they think they do. They're both hurt deeply by life. They've both been through some rough patches and they are still trying to put themselves back together and are still trying to get ahold of their own lives and try to make something out of what's life already thrown their way. Maybe try to make it better?

Auburn is sweet, she's shy, she also thinks she's weak but most strong people tend to see themselves as weak and helpless. Owen is the epitome of greatness. He's gold. And I think Auburn realized it the first time she laid eyes on him.

What can I say about this book other than it's worth your time and you won't be disappointed by either the characters, the plot or the theme. Mrs. Hoover always writes book that feel fresh and definitely not something overused or boring. She knows how to write and she knows how to express feelings and emotions in the best possible way. Her books always make me shed tears and for that I'm grateful.

I connected with the characters on so many levels. They are so human, so normal.. They're not made of steel, they hurt and they fall down but they're strong and they keep going and they fell in love in the most beautiful way possible; through the need, the primal need of human beings, to find the one thing in life that makes them happy...

“No one deserves you like I do.
“No one sees you like I do.
“No one understand you the way I do.
“No one makes your heart beat like I do.
He presses his palm against my heart. “And no one else deserves to be inside you if they can’t get there here first.

What this book did to me with its confessions, well, it's hard to put into words and I'm trying hard here, right now, to tell you all the reasons you should read this book and I'm just going to say to you that you have to read this for the simple reason that it has a lot to give, a lot to offer. Including lots of food for thought. And a whole lotta more feelings that are going to eat away at you for quite some time.]]>

Welcome to Braggsville 23751628
Born and raised in the heart of old Dixie, D'aron Davenport finds himself in unfamiliar territory his freshman year at UC Berkeley. Two thousand miles and a world away from his childhood, he is a small-town fish floundering in the depths of a large, hyper-liberal pond. Caught between the prosaic values of his rural hometown and the intellectualized multicultural cosmopolitanism of Berzerkeley, the nineteen-year-old white kid is uncertain about his place until one disastrous party brings him three idiosyncratic best friends: Louis, a "kung-fu comedian" from California; Candice, an earnest do-gooder claiming Native roots from Iowa; and Charlie, an introspective inner-city black teen from Chicago. They dub themselves the "4 Little Indians."

But everything changes in the group's alternative history class, when D'aron lets slip that his hometown hosts an annual Civil War reenactment, recently rebranded "Patriot Days." His announcement is met with righteous indignation, and inspires Candice to suggest a "performative intervention" to protest the reenactment. Armed with youthful self-importance, makeshift slave costumes, righteous zeal, and their own misguided ideas about the South, the 4 Little Indians descend on Braggsville. Their journey through backwoods churches, backroom politics, Waffle Houses, and drunken family barbecues is uproarious to start, but will have devastating consequences.]]>

What an amazing cute short-story. It gives us a glimpse to the past of Cinder when she had first came to Adri's house. We see her struggling to fit in, doing something to make these people who are strangers to her believe in her, believe that she's worth something and that she's not useless and worthless of their attention and care. It's heartbreaking reading this. She is just a little girl and she's in so much pain and she's so alone and she cannot remember a thing before the surgery that turned her into a cyborg. If you've read Cinder then I suggest that you read this immediately, it's a good way to establish a deeper connection with our lovely protagonist.

Leisel and Evelyn lost everything. Husbands. Families. Friends. Lives that made sense. All they had left was each other, and a friendship that could withstand anything Even an apocalypse.

Until one fateful night, the marginal safety they’d come to rely on comes to a vicious and brutal end. With the help of Alex & Jami, both unlikely allies, Leisel and Evelyn are able to escape their shattered sanctuary only to find themselves face-to-face with a much altered, much crueler life where they have to find the way—and the will—to stay alive in a world they no longer recognize.

Traveling across a broken and infection-ridden country; the road-weary group are pitted against endless violence, improbable circumstances, and the ultimate loss.

Everything comes at a price—especially safety, the cost of which could very well strip them of the one thing they’ve tried so hard to cling to: their humanity.

Yet along with all the trials they’re forced to endure, there’s also hope in the form of love. Having loved Leisel from afar, Alex attempts to put the pieces of her fractured heart back together.

But in such a savage world, is there room for love?

In a place of nightmares-made-reality, where the living should be feared far more than the dead, an unbreakable friendship and a love amongst all odds can mean the difference between life and death.

There are friends

And then there are Leisel and Evelyn.

<![CDATA[The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories]]> 721012 Sketch Book first appeared in 1819, readers in America and abroad greeted it with enthusiasm, and Irving emerged as America's first successful professional author. The pieces about life in England are gently ironic, reflecting the author's interest in the traditions of the Old World and his longings for his home in the New. But it is in "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" that Irving exhibits his true strength—the ability to depict American landscapes and culture so vividly that readers feel themselves a part of them. And it is on the basis of these two classic tales that Irving is generally credited with inventing the short story as a distinct literary genre.

Ms. Ee topped herself. 'World After' was fast-paced and full of twists and turns and I didn't even realize how fast I finished the book. It pulled me right in and then I just couldn't get out.

This woman knows how to write. The flow of her books is perfect, not too fast and not too slow and she always cuts to the chase rather than delve into useless details. We got to see a little bit of Raffe's feelings and how he sees Penryn (thanks to Pooky Bear).

Despite the fact that Raffe wasn't around until the last 100 pages of the book, the romance had evolved amazingly. They didn't kiss, but there is that sparks that Ee put there to torture us.

As expected there were huge revelations and some unexpected turns in the end of the book and Ms. Ee left us hanging once more.

I'm now looking forward to reading the next book in the series with much eagerness. Ms. Ee said that she plans for a May 2015 release which means we are months and months away from book 3.. I'll be waiting.]]>

I had high hopes of this book. And I'm sure it was because 'Angelfall' was pretty much perfect. I can only say that this exceeded my expectations and it was even better than the first novel in the series.

I'll be waiting.

<![CDATA[Homeland (Forgotten Realms: The Dark Elf Trilogy, #1; Legend of Drizzt, #1)]]> 50027 Discover the origin story of one of the greatest heroes of the Realms—Drizzt Do’Urden—in this thrilling first installment of the Dark Elf Trilogy

Drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden, first introduced in The Icewind Dale Trilogy, quickly became one of the fantasy genre’s standout characters. With Homeland, Salvatore pulls back the curtain to reveal the startling tale of how this hero came to be—how this one lone drow walked out of the shadowy depths of the Underdark; how he left behind an evil society and a family that wanted him dead.

As the third son of Mother Malice and weaponmaster Zaknafein, Drizzt Do’Urden is meant to be sacrificed to Lolth, the evil Spider Queen, per drow tradition. But with the unexpected death of his older brother, young Drizzt is spared—and, as a result, further ostracized by his family. As Drizzt grows older, developing his swordsmanship skills and studying at the Academy, he begins to realize that his idea of good and evil does not match up with those of his fellow drow. Can Drizzt stay true to himself in a such an unforgiving, unprincipled world?

Homeland is the first book in the Dark Elf Trilogy and the Legend of Drizzt series.]]>

The Darkest Minds tend to hide behind the most unlikely faces.

I'm wowed. This was magnificent. It was a hundred percent dystopia, a little bit of road-trip and adventure, action, a lot of heartbreak, darkness, intensity and a shattering romance. Yup, that seems to sum up the formula the author followed and she succeeded in making my heart rugs for her to mop the floor.

A virus that only strikes kids, killing them almost instantaneously. All the kids who survive are not normal, they beg to differ from the afflicted, they are special in ways no one can comprehend. The kids who don't get ill, they have powers. Powers such as controlling electricity, moving things and the most dangerous of all; mind control.

Ruby Elizabeth Daly has been in a camp for those special kids since she was 10 and something terrible happened to her - something she did herself - now she is 16 and she is finally broken out of the camp that has broken her down piece by piece by a group of insurgents.

She runs away from them too and that's when she comes across a team, consisting of a little girl, and two boys. Suzume, Chubs & Liam. Together they want to reach a guy called "the Slip Kid" because he's the only one who has ever been able to escape from the camps more than once. He also may be the only one, other than Ruby, who is an Orange, meaning someone who can control minds.

Well, I don't want to spoil this for you but I could go on for hours and hours and I'd still wouldn't be able to say how much I loved this book. There are so many things to talk about. The writing!? The way Ruby and Liam fall in love, slowly and all at once? It's so beautiful and so heartbreaking. What can I talk about? The twists, that, make no mistake, are too many or maybe I can talk about the ending which left my mind spinning around in circles, thinking not only of one but two things. Liam. Chubs.

Did you know...you make me so happy that sometimes I actually forget to breath? I'll be looking at you, and my chest will get so tight...and it's like, the only thought in my head is how much I want to reach over and kiss you.

This is a work of art that Mrs. Alexandra Bracken has created here. I would devour the next one right way but I don't want this to bring it a step closer to the end, just yet.]]>

“Families are messy. Immortal families are eternally messy. Sometimes the best we can do is to remind each other that we're related for better or for worse...and try to keep the maiming and killing to a minimum.

Who doesn't love our dearest Olympian Gods? I love this book so much, it's like a mini Odyssey hence the title, 'The Sea of Monsters'. Who doesn't love a little boy who takes on quests and goes to save and explore the world of the unknown.

Once more this left me at a loss for words. This worlds keeps getting better and better, messier and messier, and yes okay it's not the most accurate book about mythology and all, so, if you're a huge fan of the Greek mythology you should avoid this unless you're up for some fun and joy and lots and lots of adventure to blow your mind away.

I love how it all mixes so well together. I love the Camp and I love our heroes, I love the mythical creatures that are so picturesque.

What I love the most though is the fact it has so many human involvement without really losing its most important detail; That our heroes are half human too and they're flawed and not perfect, and they'll make mistakes. This is so important, because it doesn't loses its touch with humanity and it doesn't deify everyone.

I was somewhat perplexed when deciding on the rating of this book. It starts off amazingly and interestingly but halfway I kind of lost interest because there was lots of hate and it kind of makes you sad to see that there could ever be so much hate into one's heart. But I got on with it and I am glad I did because the last 40 pages are worth all of the hate that us, the readers, and the characters underwent.

Anna Karenina 151

Having read 'Pride & Prejudice' and having loved it I can only say that I'm most disappointed by this book. I couldn't even finish it. I read about 100 pages and not once did I find something about it that's intriguing and what's more the story is not only bland but also empty... I find the whole 'match-making' storyline stupid and even dumber the fact that the heroine is completely oblivious of certain things such as the fact that Mr. Elton is in love with her and not Harriet.

The blacksmith’s son from Putney emerges from the spring’s bloodbath to continue his climb to power and wealth, while his formidable master, Henry VIII, settles to short-lived happiness with his third queen before Jane dies giving birth to the male heir he most craves.

Cromwell is a man with only his wits to rely on; he has no great family to back him, no private army. Despite rebellion at home, traitors plotting abroad and the threat of invasion testing Henry’s regime to the breaking point, Cromwell’s robust imagination sees a new country in the mirror of the future. But can a nation, or a person, shed the past like a skin? Do the dead continually unbury themselves? What will you do, the Spanish ambassador asks Cromwell, when the king turns on you, as sooner or later he turns on everyone close to him?

With The Mirror & the Light, Hilary Mantel brings to a triumphant close the trilogy she began with Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. She traces the final years of Thomas Cromwell, the boy from nowhere who climbs to the heights of power, offering a defining portrait of predator and prey, of a ferocious contest between present and past, between royal will and a common man’s vision: of a modern nation making itself through conflict, passion, and courage.]]>

So, I'm pumped for the movie and thought why not pump myself a bit more? And since I had the Hogwarts Library sitting on my bookcase I thought, "let's do this" and here I am, going out of my mind with excitement for the movie. I simply want as many beasts as possible from the book to show up in the movie, especially the Fwooper, but I'm not even sure that's going to be the movie's subject.

I loved Harry and Ron's notes on the book, they gave another vibe to it.. and I laughed my ass off.

<![CDATA[The Arabian Nights: Tales of 1001 Nights, Volume 1]]> 7123161 'The bride then came surrounded by her slave girls like the moon among stars or a matchless pearl set among others on a string.'

When the beautiful Shahrazad gives herself to the bloody-handed King Shahriyar, she is not expected to survive beyond dawn. But using her wit and guile, she begins a sequence of stories that will last 1001 nights: stories of 'ifrits and money-changers, prices and slave girls, fishermen and queens, and magical gardens of paradise. This volume also includes the well-known tale of 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves'.

Along with this landmark new translation, Robert Irwin's introduction discusses the many cultures The Arabian Nights has drawn on and the elaborate structure of the story-within-a-story that defines the collection, as well as the importance to the Nights of locked doors, sex, and the recurring themes of money, merchants and debts. This edition also contains suggestions for further reading, a glossary, maps and a chronology.]]>

<![CDATA[Hercule Poirot's Casebook (Hercule Poirot, #42)]]> 16428
The shrewd little detective with the egg-shaped head and the enormous black mustaches was created by one of the great storytellers of the world. Only she could have devised the cases worthy of his skill, the ingenious mysteries that challenge the reader as well as the detective.

Poirot had a passion for order, for rational thought, and he had a justified confidence in his deductive genius. No matter what the provocation, he remained calm. Although his character does not change, there is a spectacular diversity in the plots and themes of the cases. But whether murders are committed by violence, by poison, or by more subtle means, Poirot finds the solution. Thefts of money or jewels are uncovered or thwarted. Here, too, are Poirot's famous adventures against modern monsters of evil from The Labors of Hercules. There is variety in the length of the cases, which range from "The Wasp's Nest," a very brief tale of a crime prevented, to "The Under Dog," a story of almost novella length about the trapping of a killer. These and all the other brilliant stories make Poirot's Casebook solid, satisfying entertainment.]]>

This was a decent follow up to the first book which I still hold dearly in my heart but in this one something felt off. First and foremost, I hate how the author categorized it as a novel despite its short length.

Isis is a really dark and twisted teenager and that's my favorite kind. However, she's snarky and sassy and sometimes doesn't think the consequences of saying whatever she feels like saying and ends up hurting people around her. I'm not saying that Jack, the cold king, doesn't deserve any of this but sometimes we have to draw a line at what is and isn't appropriate to say and more importantly when it's the right time to say it.

Although, Isis is an amazing character, I wish there were less snarky comments and more plot. At times, it felt like the storyline was being dragged on and I don't like overstretched scenes.

The rating is not objective. At all. To be honest, it's pretty harsh because the first book was flawless and I loved how different it was from other books of its kind. This one simply did not live up to my expectations. Sadly.

Something tells me, by the way the book ended, that the next one though is going to be more intriguing. Let's see.]]>

Eighteen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, forty-three weeks, and two days. Or so she thinks.

The boy she maybe-sort-of-definitely loved has dropped off the face of the planet after his girlfriend's death, leaving a Jack-shaped hole. Determined to be happy, Isis fills it in with lies and puts on a brave smile for her new life at Ohio State University.

But how long can that smile last with all of her friends gone?

How long can it last with the guilt of Sophia's death crushing her?

And how long can it really last when Will Cavanaugh attends the same school, taunting her?

Isis is good at pretending everything is okay. But not that good. The cracks begin to show.

Isis Blake is good at putting herself back together.

But Jack Hunter is better.

“People are more difficult to work with than machines. And when you break a person, he can't be fixed.

This is just so fun and I love how this one takes more dramatic turns than the previews novel. This book is an introduction to how dangerous it really is and we come to think of them not only as adventures and as heroes but as people who can die just as easily as a human being. They are mortal, our heroes, not immortal.

Like I said, this series just gets more and mature and I think I love this more than if it had stayed like the first two novels. We get deeper into our characters feelings and realize how scared they really are, how they don't know what to await. It all becomes so complicated and realize that they'd sacrifice themselves for each other. That's the kind of friendship there is between our heroes.

For Aphrodite's sake, Annabeth just grab and kiss Percy because he really is blind when it comes to you. How can he not see that you love him just as much as he does? Kids. Hahah, I love how their relationship reaches into a more subatomic level, they are friends who have romantically feelings for each other which is so cute and I just want to make them kiss. Am I making any sense? I hope so.

Like I said, this gets more dramatic. This one was the most dramatic yet, but still it didn't lose it's funny edge and our heroes kept it at balance without making me cry my eyes out the entire time. Summing it up: it's still just as fun as it was, but it's far more mature.]]>

“My nightmares are usually about losing you. I'm okay once I realize you're here.

I don't know how else to say this. This is one of the best books I've ever read, I mean I sure loved 'The Hunger Games' but this just broke every kind of record. This was better in every way. It was even more action-packed and the jaw-dropping end add to its magnificence.

Well, first and foremost, Katniss is starting to fall in love with Peeta. She just kind of realizes slowly but what matters is that she loves him, not they way he loves her but at least she is starting to realize how important she is to him and how quickly he got into her heart and claimed it.

The arena in this book is two hundred times better than the arena of the first book, I think it's due to the fact that the clock makes it that much more complex and interesting.

I love how Katniss would do just about anything in order to protect those she loves, even if it means doing things she hates which is what this book breaches. Katniss does things she hates, everyone, Peeta, Haymitch, do things they hate and have to act because of the games. It's all just a game. I mean, Katniss in the first book is clueless, right? Right. Now she's experienced and it changes the game, it makes it that much more interesting to read.

I cannot say anything about the ending, I don't like spoilers but in truth I don't think that there's a person who hasn't read this series, still I won't say how the ending ruined me and I still remember picking up Mockingjay and reading it right away.]]>

I cannot say anything about the ending, I don't like spoilers but in truth I don't think that there's a person who hasn't read this series, still I won't say how the ending ruined me and I still remember picking up Mockingjay and reading it right away.

367 Colleen Hoover Lazaros 5 So perfect. So beautiful. So painstakingly painful but nevertheless incredibly beautiful.

It's my first Colleen Hoover book so I had not a tad bit clue about what to expect. But what I read & what I felt blew my mind.

Sydney is a girl who's deeply hurt and completely betrayed by her trust in the people who she thought they loved her and she rightly is so since her boyfriend was cheating with her roomate & best friend for two years which is to say the exact amount of time that she and her boyfriend were together when she found out by her neighbour.

She left her boyfriend and she left her apartment and her neighbour took her in. The mysterious guitar-genius and songwriter which she falls in love with and then she learns he has a girlfriend.

And she is too good for her own good and he is too loyah for his own good so they are trying to bury their feelings but keep their friendship intact.

What I loved so much about the book was the honesty Sydney and Ridge have which is till the end of the book pretty obvious and there's nothing more I love more than honest feelings. They talked about the feelings they have been developed but history's proven us that feelings cannot ever be buried 100%. It was guaranteed that somewhere along the way they would succumb to their feelings - to their love -.

I believe that we can only fall in love with another person while 'being in love' with another if we had only been in love with the idea of the person we're with and what that person represents. We can always love two people at the same time but I don't believe that we can be in love with two people simultaneously. So, I say that you have to choose between your love and your being in love.

That's what happened in this book. Ridge chose and his girlfriend chose and I believe they were all happy in the end. I think this is the end of my review.

Oh, and by the way I want to say that the last 11 pages of the book (a.k.a. making love) was the most beautiful love scene I've ever read. I'm not even kidding. I cannot even begin to comprehend how Hoover managed to pull that scene off but by the end she had me screaming like a crybaby. I wanted more. I want more of Sydney & Ridge.]]>

Soon, Sadie and Carter discover that the gods of Ancient Egypt are waking, and the worst of them Set is after the Kanes. To stop him, the siblings must embark on a dangerous journey across the globe - a quest that brings them ever closer to the truth about their family and its links to a secret order that has existed since the time of the pharaohs...]]>

“It takes strength and courage to admit the truth.

Honestly, who does it better than Rick Riordan when it comes to middle-grade fantasy books? The answer is no one. He never ceases to amaze me with the ideas he's coming up with, and although one could say that his books and ideas are being recycled I downright disagree with that notion. He's written about the Greek Gods, about the Roman Gods and then the Egyptian Gods, and each time he comes up with completely different ideas and twists to encase his stories in.

Carter and Sadie Kane are two siblings, they've never seen much of each other since their mother died and their father took custody of Carter (the eldest) whereas Sadie was taken under their grandparents' care.

Carter is that smart, humble kid, who's always there to help and Sadie is that outgoing, sassy girl you were classmates with when you were in elementary school.

And now, let's fast forward to the part where the Egyptian Gods are unleashed and they find shelter in human hosts. Amongst these Gods, there is the worst of them, the God of Chaos, Set who's hell bent upon destroying the world.

So, the kids learn who they are (which is for you to find out... I mean, were their parents Gods? Or are they Gods themselves? Or maybe they're just common humans trying to save the world?)

You may think you're a little too familiar with this storyline, especially if you're an avid Riordan reader, but you'll be up for a surprise, trust me.

This somehow felt a lot more fast-paced than all of his other books. Usually, Mr. Riordan takes his time with the characters and the plot but in this one everything was faster than usual and I admit that I loved the change.

May your eye go to the Sun,

You are all the colors in one, at full brightness.

At first I was let down by the book. I had read about 60 percent of the book and it felt unsatisfactory to me, like something was missing. This book gave me this vague feeling that every idea in there had been recycled and I was not happy.

All that changed when the book suddenly started picking up a little, steadily and suddenly I found myself touched, and I was crying by what I was reading and I was feeling a wholeness.

Finch is the definition of a troubled teenager, but his reasons are pretty genuine. Neglected by his dad, living in a broken home.. All those thrown in, along with another fact that I cannot reveal, make the toughest person break down.

Violet isn't exactly troubled. She's going through a rough patch and Fitch is the one to get her out of there. She's not entirely up to the idea of liking him at first, but she finds that they are forming a bond together..

I liked both of them. They are both, solid, well-formed characters, with flaws and insecurities and I think the author did a great work at creating a bunch of a troubled teenagers, and reasons as to why they're troubled.

The reason I gave it 3 stars though lies in the fact that nothing happened till after the second half of the book. Nothing big, and although I understand that she was trying to build up a huge ending, in order to have a great book, you need more than a booming ending, you need big moments along the rest of the book, and the rest of the book felt much too ordinary and simplistic..

Altogether, it's a great read and I recommend it.

Orphan Train 15818107 This is an alternate cover edition of ISBN 9780061950728, found here.

The author of Bird in Hand and The Way Life Should Be delivers her most ambitious and powerful novel to date: a captivating story of two very different women who build an unexpected friendship: a 91-year-old woman with a hidden past as an orphan-train rider and the teenage girl whose own troubled adolescence leads her to seek answers to questions no one has ever thought to ask.

Nearly eighteen, Molly Ayer knows she has one last chance. Just months from "aging out" of the child welfare system, and close to being kicked out of her foster home, a community service position helping an elderly woman clean out her home is the only thing keeping her out of juvie and worse.

Vivian Daly has lived a quiet life on the coast of Maine. But in her attic, hidden in trunks, are vestiges of a turbulent past. As she helps Vivian sort through her possessions and memories, Molly discovers that she and Vivian aren't as different as they seem to be. A young Irish immigrant orphaned in New York City, Vivian was put on a train to the Midwest with hundreds of other children whose destinies would be determined by luck and chance.

The closer Molly grows to Vivian, the more she discovers parallels to her own life. A Penobscot Indian, she, too, is an outsider being raised by strangers, and she, too, has unanswered questions about the past. As her emotional barriers begin to crumble, Molly discovers that she has the power to help Vivian find answers to mysteries that have haunted her for her entire life - answers that will ultimately free them both.

Rich in detail and epic in scope, Orphan Train is a powerful novel of upheaval and resilience, of second chances, of unexpected friendship, and of the secrets we carry that keep us from finding out who we are.]]>

The book sheds light upon a handful of matters. Such as suicide, growing up feeling like you don't belong anywhere, loss, the power of love, the inevitability of certain things. It's not even that long and it manages to breach these and more subjects and I loved that because it did so gracefully without being blunt. The bluntness it had, it was just on point. This was an amazing book, I did not expect to like it that much. I loved Toru, he is an amazing personality, and I gotta say he's one of the best male fictional characters I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. The development of his character, it's clear in every single page, and he is evolving his personality right before our eyes. The author did an excellent job at this part.

I've been in a reading slump for so long.. I'm in love, I fell in love months ago and since then I have no mind for reading and when I do, I fall asleep instantly.. This book compelled me.

I love how it depicts the relationship of Ari and Dante. Let's take it from the start: two boys, Ari and Dante, they meet, they instantly become best friends, neither of them ever had any real friends, so it's something new to them both. They're at an age where they both discovering the world, themselves.

It's a coming-of-age book and I should have realized by now that it's my favorite genre.. I love reading about adventures, long drives, lives in the fast-forward with all the details I just need to create a crystal clear picture in my head.

I love this book, I love every single page of it, from the beginning to the end. I love what it stands for.. It means a lot to me. And additional to that, it's a page-turner, don't expect any twists however..]]>

And additional to that, it's a page-turner, don't expect any twists however..

<![CDATA[Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1)]]> 24851136 Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.]]>

Feverborn (Fever, #8) 12444298 Feverborn is a riveting tale of ancient evil, lust, betrayal, forgiveness, and the redemptive power of love.
Ěý
When the immortal Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged, and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making—a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of life itself—can save the planet.
Ěý
But those who seek the mythic song must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: the Keltar at war with nine immortals who’ve secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among—and within—themselves.
Ěý
Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And on those war-torn streets, Mac will come face-to-face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.]]>

What makes life worth living in the face of death? What do you do when the future, no longer a ladder toward your goals in life, flattens out into a perpetual present? Love is what makes us. It’s also what breaks us.

If this is true, Rowen just became the proverbial wrecking ball to Jesse’s life.

Upon discovering Rowen is pregnant after taking every precaution to ensure otherwise due to a life-threatening heart condition, Jesse is forced to face too many harsh realities and they send him into a desperate, dark place. To consider the possibility that he might lose his wife and unborn child is too much for Jesse to bear.

The situation is out of his control, so he gloms on to the few things he can control. Like noting Rowen’s every move, or dialing the doctor whenever her face goes a shade pale, or even acknowledging the fact he’d be willing to make a deal with the devil in exchange for his wife’s and child’s lives. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do or give or sacrifice to keep them from harm.

But what happens when the devil takes that deal Jesse struck, and the tables turn? A life for a life. A soul for a soul. A heart for a heart. His life for theirs.

Love is what makes us. It’s also what breaks us.

Love’s made Jesse and Rowen. Love’s about to break them too.

Garth Black’s more familiar with this concept than most people are. He hadn’t just lived in the dark for the majority of his life—he thrived in it. With a mom who’d bailed on him and a dad whose understanding of coddling started and ended with a bottle of whiskey, Garth had never been expected to rise to any sort of occasion other than following down the same dead-end paths.

That changed when he fell in love with Josie Gibson. After years of pulling each other closer before shoving the other way, they finally stopped shoving. Josie’s love is like nothing Garth’s ever experienced. He holds it close. He holds it sacred. He would do anything to preserve it and keep it from pollution, even if that means removing himself from the picture.

Garth might have been allowed a temporary furlough to bask in the light, but that pass has been revoked, and he’s been swallowed again by the dark. Will he revert to his old ways of hurting those he cares for most? Will he go back to the same destructive patterns . . . or will it be worse this time?

We can’t know light without first knowing dark . . . and Garth Black’s about to get acquainted with the dark in a whole new way.]]>

Transforming every expectation of fantasy fiction with its heady mingling of radical sexuality and spiritual anarchy, it has carried its millions of readers into regions of passion and philosophy that few books have even attempted to map. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.]]>
