بگذارید با داستان شروع کنم تا منظورم را بهتر برسانم: پسری که نمی‌دان� چرا مادرش در کودکی‌ا� خانه زندگی‌ا� را ول کرد و رفت و بعدش هم پدرش دنبال مادرش رفت و هیچ وقت هم برنگشت، داستان زندگی‌ا� را با ماجرای قتلی شروع می‌کن� که به‌تحری� کسی دیگری انجام داده. این پسر که حالا برای خودش مردی شده در نوجوانی اسیر تفکرات مفسری به‌نا� دوسلبی می‌شود� اندیشمندی که برای هر اتفاق طبیعی، نظراتی غیر طبیعی ارائه می‌ده�. او که برای چاپ کتابی که درباره‌� دوسلبی نوشته نیازمند پول است، مرد ثروت‌مند� را می‌کش� اما وقتی برای برداشتن پول‌ه� به‌خانه‌� مرد می‌رو� با روح آن مرد مواجه می‌شو� و یک‌بار� وارد دنیایی می‌شو� که گویی با قوانین خود ساخته‌� دوسلبی هدایت می‌شو�. او که شوکه شده، دو چیز را هم‌زما� درک می‌کن�: اول اینکه نام‌ا� را از دست داده و دوم این‌ک� شخصی با نام جو در مغز او به‌وجو� آمده که افکار او را هدایت می‌کن�... فکر می‌کنی� این همه ماجرا که من تازه خلاصه‌ا� را گفتم در چند صفحه‌� کتاب روی می‌دهد� باورش سخت است اما این‌ه� تنها 30 صفحه‌� ابتدایی داستان تقریبا 250 صفحه‌ا� جناب فلن اوبراین هستند. مردی که بعد از سال‌ه� به‌م� خوانندگان مشتاق فارسی زبان معرفی شده و در کنار جیمز جویس و بکت، سه غول ادبیات ایرلند هستند. سومین پلیس، کتابی که به‌نظ� کلاسیک و کهنه می‌آید� در جزء جزء خود چنان بدیع و تازه و خیال‌پردا� است که به‌زحم� می‌توانی� چشم از کلماتش بر دارید. به‌ای� اضافه کنید لحن بریتانیایی کتاب را که به‌شک� کنترل ناپذیری خنده‌دا� است. طنزی که از دل رفتار مردم سرزمینی عجیب‌وغری� بیرون آمده، با توصیفات پیچیده‌� اوبراین از محیط، به‌شک� لذت بخشی لبخند بر لبان‌تا� می‌نشان�. آن هم در حالی که سومین پلیس در شکل عادی‌ا� یک داستان جن‌وپر� ترسناک است! خاکسار در مقدمه اشاره می‌کن� که اوبراین هم مثل دو ضلع دیگر این تثلیث نویسنده‌ا� است که برای برگرداندن زبان نگارش‌ا� به‌زبان� دیگر باید عذاب علیمی� چون ترجمه‌� لهجه‌� دهاتی‌ها� ایرلندی را بر خود هموار کرد. نویسنده‌ا� پیچیده‌نوی� و رِند که تمام هم‌وغم� این است که شما را مسحور قدرت داستان پردازی و زبان‌بازی‌ا� کند و چنان این کار را استادانه انجام می‌ده� که جای هیچ ایرادگیری به‌ای� فخر فروشی باقی نمی‌مان�. در این قحطی داستان، کتابی ترجمه شده که حتا نمی‌توا� پیش‌بین� کرد یک خط جلوترش چه اتفاقی می‌افت�. خیال پردازی‌ا� که شاید به‌نویسندگا� وطنی‌ما� یادآوری کند، داستان تعریف کردن ارجح بر حرف‌زد� از طریق رمان است. آن هم داستانی که نویسنده‌ا� جا به‌جا� کتاب، به‌سبک� که بیشتر در کتاب های آلن دو باتن سراغ داریم پانویس‌ه� و توضیحاتی سراسر منطقی و فلسفی از دوسلبی محبوبش ارائه می‌ده�. تو گویی در حال خواندن رساله‌ا� در باب «در دنیای دوسلبی زیستن» هستیم. بی صبرانه منتظر خواندن هر کتاب دیگری از اوبراین هستم. کاش که به جای ترجمه‌ها� تاق‌وجف� از نویسندگان دم‌دست� مثل پل استر مترجمان وقت‌شا� را صرف ترجمه‌� شاهکارهایی مثل سومین پلیس کنند. مشقتی که نتیجه‌ا� گران‌قد� در پی دارد، تا شاید عطش اولیس نخواندن‌ما� با اوبراین خواندن فروکش کند!]]> 225 Flann O'Brien Aida 5 3.76 1967 سومین پلیس
