Lady Henrietta Stafford can’t remember a time when she wasn’t fascinated by the tall, dark, melancholy Mr. Oliver Hartwell. But she knows she is meant for some other, far less compelling man. Her father’s friend would never be interested in her. She’s too young. She’s not beautiful or clever. And, of course, he’s already married.

A widower twice over, Oliver Hartwell has lived a life marked by failures—his boyhood-dream-turned-hellish-nightmare, his tragic marriages, the utter botch he is making of fatherhood. In truth, he has only ever found happiness in the home of his friend, the Duke of Bexton. But now that his friend’s oldest daughter has grown into a gorgeous, voluptuous woman, Oliver seems doomed to ruin his chances for love and affection, just as he has ruined everything else.

When ruination is the first step towards redemption...

Voluptuous is a stand-alone, slow-burn, steamy, age-gap Regency romance novella and part of the Curves & Cravats collaboration and The Bed Me Books series.]]>

<![CDATA[His Christmas Rose: The Rockliffe Dynasty Book 4]]> 221796892 Christmas is coming, yet Lady Emily Prescott feels anything but merry

Despite being surrounded by a loving family, along with a dashing suitor who promises her a Christmastide to remember, Emily can’t shake her worry that something is missing. Perhaps because her heart doesn’t flutter the way it did long ago—before her girlish adoration for the boy next door was crushed by his careless rejection.

Newly home from his grand tour with a debilitating injury and more regrets than he can count, Nathaniel Pembrook devotes all his attention to upholding tradition and hosting his family’s famed St. Stephen’s Day party. That is, until a snowstorm traps Lady Emily Prescott at his estate—leaving him face-to-face not with the girl he once brushed aside but with the captivating woman he cannot ignore.

While the storm rages beyond the windows, the fire inside draws Emily and Nate together, forcing them to confront old hurts and an attraction they can no longer deny. But with Emily’s possible betrothal looming, will their passion only last until the snow stops? Or is their Christmas encounter the start of a love that’s destined to bloom?

His Christmas Rose is a steamy novella-length regency romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. It is book 4 in The Rockliffe Dynasty series but can also be enjoyed as a standalone.]]>

 What I liked :

Christmas vibes.

Not set in London.

Some parts of the story were a little interesting.

Not a totally naive or ignorant/willfully ignorant heroine.

 What I disliked:

Anachronistic.
(Among other things where was the heroines chaperone? The heroine spent days alone with the hero with only servants being about and no chaperone.)

Broken/insecure self-doubting hero.
(The hero spent too much time in a self-loathing/self-recrimination
state of mind and blamed himself for things that were out if his control and not his responsibility and that he was not meant to be/should not be a martyr for. Things that were on a societal level that were society and especially English aristocratic society problems and discrimination and prejudice etc.
But also other things that were from youthful "mistakes" that he made a much bigger deal about than they were.

And the issues with his Father was as much or more his Fathers fault than the heroes own fault If the heroes father had nurtured and cared enough to create a strong/good bond with his son instead of pretending and putting up a “perfect facade with his son that everything was good and great and took the time to get to know his son their relationship would have been better.
And they could have been more honest and closer.)

Not enough character development for any of the main characters.

Unconvincing romance and chemistry.

The plot and the characters and the romance needed more depth and some more fleshing out.

The grievance between the heroine and the hero was a little OTT and childish The heroine held on to her grievance for too long for what it was it would have been more understandable if the hero mocked or ridiculed her on purpose and with ill intentions or if he bullied her but what he did was at worst a dismissal and not even a dismissal to her face but when he talked with a friend he just did not see the heroine in a romantic way when they were younger for many reasons and he was not in a good place at that age either.

Repetitive.
(Especially about how the hero talked/thought about how small or/and short/small in stature the heroine was.)

The ending was a little disappointing/inadequate Not enough details in the epilogue etc.

 What I liked :

The friendship between the hero and the heroines brother and the heroine.

Kind of interesting hero.

 What I disliked:

Vague character description of both the main characters.
(Apart from vague eye color and hair color descriptions much of the characters description/character appearance/physical description are vague for/about both the main characters …unfortunately this is also true for many of the other books/main characters in this series.)

Some parts dragged and were a little stilted.

Many parts of the story was too anachronistic/too modern.

Somewhat underdeveloped and lacking in depth.

The why and how of why the main characters feel in love was lacking.

The romantic build up and chemistry was lacking and felt stilted there was no real “spark between the couple and the jump/shift from friends to lovers felt unconvincing and forced.

Annoying heroine.
(Some of the heroines decisions and actions were somewhat nonsensical and foolish and sometimes also contrary.)

Too much focus and repetition on and about the heroines hats and clothing.

Too little focus on the romance between the main characters.

The inconsistencies.

Some serious issues are more or less glossed over such as childhood neglect, child abuse (beatings), alcoholism etc.]]>

Some parts were interesting and had real potential.

 What I disliked:

Nothing is really explored in-depth.
(Not the main characters or the plot they both needed more depth and development.)

Rushed.
(Even for a novella this plot is rushed and so is the romantic build-up and chemistry.)

The story is too short.
(More details and more world-building etc. was needed and this story would have been really good/interesting if the story was longer and/or more comprehensive.)

That the hero/mmc kept pushing the heroine/fmc away and not trying to communicate/listen and instead felt sorry for himself and thought the heroine/fmc did not want a “monster even though she told him she did many times. (His insecurities dragged on to long for such a short story.)

Repetitive and underdeveloped.

Formulaic in the character description/character choice.

The the MMC/”hero did not help or “save “the heroine sooner.

The big power imbalance in the relationship.
(How the MMC/”hero sees the heroine more like a object in the beginning and not a person with feelings and wants/needs etc. And the almost Stockholm Syndrome situation between the main characters.)

Rushed/lacking romantic build-up and chemistry.

The dub-con vibes (And it is not intended to be a dub-con)

I can live with being stuck on the far end of space. I can live with having to spend weeks on an abandoned station in an asteroid belt. Sure, I don’t belong, but I’ve got my book and my eight-legged attack cat with me. I should be fine.

I’m not fine.

My alien host, Jerrok, is a jerk. He’s surly and unpleasant. He hasn’t bathed in years. He’s part cyborg - and all those parts seem to be falling to pieces. He’s the one in charge of this remote station, which means we’re forced to interact. It’s an absolutely miserable situation for both of us

…until I realize that all his anger and bluster is covering the fact that he’s thoughtful and understanding. He’s protective, too, keeping me safe when the bad guys approach. When I get hurt, he’s the one tenderly caring for my wounds.

Jerrok is also intensely, utterly lonely, just like me.

As time passes, I start to wonder…maybe where I belong isn’t a place…but a person.]]>

 What I liked :

A heroine that was rather empathetic towards others (servants and villagers/tenants etc.) despite
being ignored/belittled more or less her entire life.

The heroine wanted to be a Duchess that helped her people and did not wait for approval from the hero, before getting things done.

The heroine was not really a doormat or weak, she was a little timid and insecure at first but had some growth in her character and realized her worth etc.

The hero cared about his tenants and wanted improve their lives, but also the estate etc.

Somewhat interesting side character.
(The heroes cousin, which the hero has rather funny banter with.)

Castle setting.

Tiny bit of a gothic vibe to the story.

 What I disliked:

The romantic build up and chemistry is rushed and rather unconvincing.

Too much push and pull from both characters but mainly from the hero.

Indecisive hero.

More character development was needed especially for the hero.
(More backstory etc.)

The heroine was a little bit too naive.

Predictable.

The miscommunication and misunderstandings.
(The main characters did eventually communicate and share their pasts etc. but it took a little too long.)

Somewhat jumbled/inconsistent pacing of the story.

Vague character descriptions.]]>
