I want to write so much more but I don’t want to give the whole book away, if you go into it with as little information as possible you’ll be be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next crumb of information, and danger that lurks around the corner.

This had such a dark feel to it. It’s dark subject matter, but also in the environment; being autumn, it rains a lot, Eve’s sessions with Emery are held mostly after sun down in a very old building, etc.

This kept my attention, kept me hungry for more, and pulled all the emotions out of me. Like I previously stated, I’m so excited to read the next book, and I’ll gladly give more of the authors work a read!

This was such a good read!! The only negative I have on this book is that I wanted more, hence the 4 star rating. It read like a really well written novella, but there was that thing missing that would’ve made it feel like a full length book, noimsayin? Grace and Dominik are so perfect together though. I’m sad their book is over, and I enjoyed my time in their world.

I hope we get Santiago’s story, he’s unpredictable, and so funny!

Once Sebastian is caught, he’s then berated for killing of his mater’s family, and called a monster. Sebastian wonders if there were reparations he could’ve paid to Brandon to get him to forgive Sebastian for what went down 400 years ago.

I understand that slave owners had families that loved them, and certain people like to excuse their ancestors participation in heinous acts because the majority were committing them. But let’s get one thing clear� there’s an obvious right and wrong here. Most of us know the atrocities done to African people during slavery, and it says on page some of what Sebastian went through. Yet Sebastian is called the monster for killing Brandon’s ancestors. Sebastian himself, internally, wonders what REPARATIONS he could pay to the family to make amends the fuck?! THE FUCK?!! The fact that we’re even discussing “reparations� to the descendent of these absolutely horrendous people, when this whole time reparations are owed to African Americans, is fucking bold.

Why are we even flirting with the idea that the ex-slave was wrong?!!

Africans were enslaved, raped, and killed- CELEBRATING those murders by giving the kids day off of school to witness PEOPLE get hung from trees while having a fucking picknick. They ate us, experimented on us, dug up dead bodies for cadavers, made furniture out of our skin. We have lasting consequences that are still apparent today. A non black person might not understand this, but EVERYONE in that family that had ANYTHING to do with enslaving and torturing people, selling children, ripping them away from their families to be sold to strangers who then did the same horrendous things to them, deserved to die. But yet here we are, calling Sebastian the monster, wondering what “REPARATIONS� he can pay to make amends.

And, AND what’s the reason for Renee’s kidnapping? To lure Sebastian there to sign a blood oath TO BECOME A SLAVE!! A-fucking-GAIN!!

To say this shit left a sour taste in my mouth is an understatement.

Now, I understand that’s not the whole book, but imagine for a minute how it would feel to read about a member of the Jewish community paying a Nazi descendent to apologize for killing a Nazi back in the day. Or a woman being assaulted and left for dead, paying her attacker when SHE is owed everything. Not cool, man. Not cool. Everything before slavery was mentioned, and everything after the kidnapping scene where our tortured hero wonders if he can pay reparations (absolutely ridiculous), was ok. Not the best, but like I said, a semi-enjoyable read. As such, this will get 2⭐️ from me. Absolutely no more.

This was a nice little atmospheric beach novella. I wish there was more with “Tarzan’s� inability to talk; I would’ve loved being privy to their conversations, instead of like a book montage of the weeks they spent together. Maybe more of him mixing up words for what he’s trying to say, that was cute. I loved hearing of how their relationship was slowly progressing, they both deserved all the happiness! I’m glad the women (except poor Mahyah) ended up happy, because those of us who’ve read this know that this world is not built in a woman’s favor.

Told in past/present chapters, with both Hawk and Wren’s pov, we get the story of how a small town girl’s life has gone from bad to worse from the chance of a lifetime. The only positive in sight being Cooper, her daughter born from her one night stand with her favorite rock star.

Hawk is the lead singer from Black Kite. The peak of his career has plateaued, he’s older, lonely, been around the block a few times to not be as enamored with fame as he was when he was 17. After what I’m sure was an epic house party, he finds himself alone, left to burn in the sun, and the responsibility for the mess. Wondering into his attic, he finds boxes of fan mail that went unanswered. While going through it, he finds letters from Wren- written years ago.

Wren is just a girl from a small town writing letters to her favorite band. She keeps it up for a few years before she’s gifted tickets to the Black Kite show. There, she gets lucky; backstage passes to meet, and party with, the band.

Wren is real. She’s not a groupie, a fan deliriously obsessed with the band, or even a woman looking for how the situation can benefit her. She’s a fan of the band, yes, but she also critical of their music when she knows they can do better. Wren is more interested in the music they create, Hawks presence on stage, and the lyrics to their songs. And she catches Hawks attention, over all the other groupies, not by asking him to sign her naked chest but by asking him about his guitar.

A brief time together leads to her pregnancy. Wren writes Hawk to let him know, but is unable to get in touch with him. Then, Victoria comes to town with an NDA and legal documents giving up Hawks parental rights, as well as a check for $5,000 for the trouble. Wren is absolutely heartbroken, not just for her naive fairytale but, more importantly, her child.

Hawk is completely unaware.

See, the monsters hiding in fame! Victoria is the daughter of the record label owner, Cornelius, I probably should’ve led with that lol. And Cornelius is just as evil as his C U Next Tuesday (American) daughter, blackmailing Hawk into marrying her (Victoria).

While reading this story, I felt sadness for celebrities that are undeserving of such deceit. I mean, let’s face it, narcissists and sociopaths are amongst them, manipulating, lying and cheating to get the fame, and I hold no feelings of sadness for those people. But Hawk is generally a good dude. His bandmates are too, well, except for Lewis. It must be really tough to live at the top of the world, not knowing who you can trust. And Wren,having an intimate relationship with someone she really respects, then being left with the responsibility of raising child, alone, in a small minded town. Our poor Wren got to see Hawk’s marriage announcement, him and Victoria on the covers of every magazine. That has to be mindblowingly (it’s a word�.) difficult to withstand.

Anyway, I’ll let you read about the rest, just saying that Victoria deserved what she got and more- my voraciousness for dark romance probably making me a bit too invested when it comes to revenge. That aside, I enjoyed this story. At 600+ pages I was happy that my interests didn’t stray from the story. I’ve never read this author before, but I look forward to reading more of her work in this world!

He changed, finally ok with admitting that he couldn’t stay away from Everly, but this wasn’t your typical flowers and sweet words romance. There was no screaming for Everly when shit hit the fan. No passion about his love being in danger� not until the second half.

I live for those moments of passion, of ‘touch her and you die�, of utter desperation to save his woman and, again, we don’t get that right away.

These characters went THROUGH IT, and at 540+ pages, you’ll witness every single second. I went through every emotion with them, just riding the rollercoaster up and down, twist and turn. I can honestly say that I wasn’t bored at all during this thick ass book, which says something!

This was told in the past and present, weaving a hell of a story about two people who love each other so deeply, but cannot be together- there’s always something in the way. We see their stolen moments of love and happiness, as well as their eventual separation and detox of their bliss. The people around them determined to keep them apart forever.

My heart breaks for our hero and heroine. Madden just wants to love Bianca in the open, lay claim to her, fuck what everyone else has to say. But his loyalty, his conscience, and Bianca’s secrets, keep him from stealing her away. It puts him in between a rock and a hard place and, in between their stolen moments, he suffers� for YEARS.

Although this story is told in alternating pov’s, I can’t say much about Bianca without risk of spoiling what A.Zavarelli has written. I just think that it’s better to start this one blind.

If you’re looking for a story on the longer side, where you’ll find yourself invested in the mess that is Madden and Bianca, with twists and turns, this is the book for you!

I devoured it in like 15 hours- over two days, locked in my bedroom, obsessed with finding out what the hell happened, and how, or even if, Zavarelli was going to fix it.

Jesus, this book.

“Why the fuck did we have the misfortune of meeting if all we were going to do was drown each other.�

These characters went THROUGH IT, and at 540+ pages, you’ll witness every single second. I went through every emotion with them, just riding the rollercoaster up and down, twist and turn. I can honestly say that I wasn’t bored at all during this thick ass book, which says something!

This was told in the past and present, weaving a hell of a story about two people who love each other so deeply, but cannot be together- there’s always something in the way. We see their stolen moments of love and happiness, as well as their eventual separation and detox of their bliss. The people around them determined to keep them apart forever.

My heart breaks for our hero and heroine. Madden just wants to love Bianca in the open, lay claim to her, fuck what everyone else has to say. But his loyalty, his conscience, and Bianca’s secrets, keep him from stealing her away. It puts him in between a rock and a hard place and, in between their stolen moments, he suffers� for YEARS.

Although this story is told in alternating pov’s, I can’t say much about Bianca without risk of spoiling what A.Zavarelli has written. I just think that it’s better to start this one blind.

If you’re looking for a story on the longer side, where you’ll find yourself invested in the mess that is Madden and Bianca, with twists and turns, this is the book for you!

I devoured it in like 15 hours- over two days, locked in my bedroom, obsessed with finding out what the hell happened, and how, or even if, Zavarelli was going to fix it.

Lucian was the best thing to ever happen to Gypsy, it just took her a while to realize how damn lucky she was.

The beginning of Lucian and Gypsy’s story had me laughing so hard. She was such a brat, and I loved the way Lucian handled her. Her punishments; being grounded, forced to write lines, her cleaning his house! All had me kicking my feet in delight. I hated who Gypsy had become (the same can be said about her sister, Birdie, who followed in her footsteps). So I was in support of Lucian taming Gypsy like a wild horse.

The middle of their story is where I kinda lost interest for a minute. There were like 100 pages where I just felt like the story was dragging (it’s a personal thing, I’m not into BDSM, and their vague vacation was a bore to read about- thankfully it was brief). I was convinced it would only be a 3 star, which was hard to admit when I love A. Zavarelli’s work. Because of my deep satisfaction with her stories, I kept reading.

The last third of their story? Oh my gosh! I cried. I was angry. I was surprised. So, so good! I just wish the baby would’ve been more of a surprise to Lucian. But, hey, it cant be perfect.

I generally enjoyed this book, proving yet again that I enjoy her work. It’s about a flat 4⭐️ for me. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series will bring!

I might return to this and write a more descriptive review, but for right now I’m going to say that this was such a good story. I love that Emma Scott allowed the time for us to feel, to build a love for Noah and Charolette, both individually and together. Nothing’s worse than an author with no depth, or someone who puts a rush (lol) on their story.

I mean, I realize nobody wants to read through our Hero’s long hospital stay after a gunshot wound to the chest, but maybe if we could see a little of that, followed by Camryn finally stepping through the door of the promised house close to the beach.

Ugh. I just wish there was more thought into all of these really important moments. It would’ve blown this version of the book out the damn water.

Other than that, I was satisfied.
