3 and a half stars. It was refreshing to see vampires viewed as bloodthirsty beasts and not only as pale, romantic teenagers but the writing just wasn't very good. The book was highly entertaining, terrifying at times and quite interesting even though there were lots of cliches and it just seemed to me that I was sort of seeing the movie while I read.

Mintun kohtalo järkytti suomalaisia rikoksen paljastuttua vuonna 2016. Puhutteleva dokumenttiromaani kertoo koko tarinan otsikoiden takana. Se vastaa siihen, miksi kokematon 14-vuotias ajautui viisikymppisen yliopistolehtorin hyväksikäyttämäksi ja alistamaksi seksiorjaksi.

Minttu sai mieheltä 15-vuotislahjaksi koiran kaulapannan ja joutui myymään seksiä sadoille miehille eri puolilla Suomea. Läheiset, koulu, terveydenhoito ja lastensuojelu eivät nähneet eivätkä puuttuneet.

Vasta täysi-ikäisyyden kynnyksellä Minttu onnistui irrottautumaan häntä pahoin traumatisoineesta elämänvaiheesta, mutta siitä huolimatta Mintun elämässä jatkuivat monenlaiset vaikeat ongelmat. Hyväksikäyttäjä tuomittiin lopulta 11 vuodeksi vankeuteen. Mies pääsi avovankilaan ennen kuin Minttu psykoterapiaan.

Minttu on ensimmäinen suomalainen ihmiskaupan uhri, joka kertoo avoimesti tarinansa.

Tarkkanäköinen esikoisromaani 90-luvusta, ystävyydestä ja olosuhteista, joiden kasvattamia välimatkoja on vaikea kuroa umpeen.

Kun lama kuritti Suomea, maassa kasvoi sukupolvi, jonka osaksi tuli olla mahdollisimman vähän tiellä. Mikään ei tuntunut olevan heitä varten.

Luokissa istuttiin tyttö-poikapareina, opettajat pakkolomautettiin ja pyyhekumit puolitettiin. Uutisissa Arvi Lind toivotti hyvää iltaa, eikä koskaan voinut olla varma, mitä toivotuksen jälkeen seurasi.

Epävarmuuksista huolimatta maailma oli jossakin. Maijalle ystävineen se alkoi avautua ensin seutulipun päässä, sitten huomisessa.
