His stay in this remote place is challenged by a series of strange occurrences, but most of all by the gardener, who seems determined not to leave him alone with his thoughts. Despite their sometimes hilarious interactions, this book felt like a punch to the gut.

Qualche nota dolente purtroppo c’è e riguarda la caratterizzazione dei personaggi secondari e alcune scelte narrative che avrei voluto venissero approfondite meglio per dare un impatto diverso alla storia e ai protagonisti. Per quanto riguarda i pg secondari purtroppo sono presenti in davvero poche scene e visto che alcuni sono abbastanza importanti avrei tanto voluto scoprire di più su di loro, motivo per il quale sul finale non ho provato quasi nulla. Pecca un po’ di scarsa caratterizzazione, ecco. La storia è molto Bas|Lena centrica il che va benissimo, tuttavia le altre voci sembravano molto interessanti e non averle scoperte un po’ mi rattrista.
A parte questo, se volete un buon fantasy incentrato sul romance, il sistema magico e qualche intrigo politico per l’ennesima volta vi consiglio di leggere la Mesmerista ]]> 4.13 2023

Ormai sono innamorata di questa storia e lo sapete benissimo. Il secondo volume, rispetto al primo, si prende un po’ il suo tempo fino ad esplodere in un turbinio di violenza, morte e magia. Stavolta tocchiamo con mano la guerra, seguiamo le vicende dell’impero e della resistenza. Vengono rivelate nuove informazioni sul mesmerismo (sistema magico che continuo ad amare follemente) e tra sparatorie, incomprensioni e plot twist si arriva ad un finale che mi ha fatto urlare (nel terzo per favore datemi più Doria).
Se c’è una cosa che amo, oltre Bas e Lena (Doria), è lo stile di scrittura. ? scorrevole, pulito, delicato in ogni contesto ed evocativo. I miei occhi si illuminano ogni volta che leggono del mesmerismo, giuro.
