Or a diagram of some kind.
A flow chart would have been nice.

Charley Davidson is a part-time private investigator and full-time grim reaper. Meaning, she sees dead people. Really. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (like murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. But what does he want with Charley? And why can't she seem to resist him? And what does she have to lose by giving in?

With scorching-hot tension and high-octane humor, First Grave on the Right is your signpost to paranormal suspense of the highest order.

<![CDATA[Born of Illusion (Born of Illusion, #1)]]> 18486815 Born of Illusion launches a thrilling new series laced with romance and magic. Each book is linked to a real-life secret society founded in 1862 by Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, and others to study paranormal mysteries.

The first book introduces Anna Van Housen, a young woman living in Jazz Age New York, who may be the illegitimate daughter of the greatest magician who ever lived〞Harry Houdini. Anna certainly has his talent. She is an expert illusionist. What no one knows is Anna actually has supernatural gifts.

Then a young man discovers Anna*s abilities and introduces her to members of a secret society, who are eager to study her powers and help her learn the truth about herself.]]>

I tried it earlier this year when I was granted an advance copy of it but with all the things happening to me at that time; I wasn*t really in the mood to read something out of my comfort zone. I was watching a local TV shows with my grandmother that I decided to pick something like the one I*m watching (about ghost, medium, etc). I thought it's a perfect opportunity to read it again and successfully finish it this time.

I did like the beginning of the story; Anna Van Housen is assisting his famous mother on her shows. No matter how believable their shows looked to their audience, she knows that the acts that her mother had done were all a farce. But Ana*s ability isn*t, she tried to hide it from his mother. And then she met a young man named Cole. And she felt something different about him, particularly that time during a s谷ance where her ability sudden heightened when he*s around. And she wanted to know the truth.

This isn*t my usual genre. But sometimes I have to give in to my nagging curiosity so I can pacify it. And although I was thoroughly interested with this entire supernatural thing going on, I have to admit that my low interest with genre thwarted me from truly enjoying the novel. That said, I was still entertained at some point and just like the heroine, Anna, I was feeling the surroundings of the story. There are so many questions in there that I*m eagerly desire to be answered. For one, her ability was I*m truly invested in and the rest follows.

And while there*s romance in here, it was just a supporting side story. I mean I know there*s something mysterious with Cole from the very start. And I*ve also thought that he might able to help her know and understand her ability. Although at some point it looked too convenient for me but other times I felt that they sincerely complement each other. I would*ve added Owen in the picture but with the stunt he pulled there and Ana*s feelings for Cole, I don*t think it was necessary to complicate in what*s already a simple romance angle.

There*s also about her family background that made me enthusiastically turned the pages. I wanted to know if what she was claiming is real. And if she*s really related to Houdini. At first I thought it was out the blue of her to have thought of him (that they were related) since I didn*t read anything really solid to support her claim. But then as I progressed I can see how she reached that conclusion.

And speaking of conclusion, I was really intrigued on what her decision will entail to her and Cole (since he also sort of added to the benefits of saying yes to Houdini*s offer). I guess, I*ll be reading the sequel after all.

It tried to incorporate as many ideas as possible which either impressed me or overwhelmed me. It*s like a glass full of water but it kept pouring even though it couldn*t accommodate it any more. So many ideas. Heavy on descriptions. Some were pretty remarkable. Some were unnecessary. And because there so many stuff going on, the utilization of these ideas had suffered.

It also didn*t help that I didn*t like how it presented the facts. I don*t like the Q & A style, probably my least favorite way of handling information. There were several times someone had asked the ※what is§ question. (e.g. ※What is a RONIN?§ What is DAIMYO?§ ※What is Kyodai?§ and so on and so forth.) I know it is important for readers to know these things but there have to be another way to get your information across. There has to be.

I think some reviewers had already voiced out their disappointment over the improper usage of the Japanese language: there*s the honorific &sama* and if I may say it again, the abundant of the word &hai.*But as for me, I don*t know what to feel. I don*t know if I*m going to laugh it off or get boiling mad. I*m not going to pretend that I*m an expert of the language. My familiarity comes from being an anime/manga fan. Years of being in the fandom helped me familiarized with certain Japanese words. At least the very basics. So having the basics wrong was really an eyesore. Plus, there*s something really, really off with the way they speak, like is this how authentic Japanese conversation should sound? Should I assume that they were originally talking in Japanese? Or they were really talking in English and were just trying to sound Japanese by throwing some words in the conversation? I don*t get it. I don*t know how to approach it.

I think it*s a sign of respect to one*s culture (subject) to invest time on proper research, especially if it*s something you*re not familiar with. I remember Amano Akira (of [Katekyo Hitman Reborn!]) she asked someone who*s fluent in Italian (she can just use google translate, y*know) to help her to name/translate terms she uses in her manga. Ooooh, another perfect example I think is Takashi Hashiguchi (of [Yakitate Japan!!]) he even hired a baker to make sure the breads he featured are possible to bake in real life. That folks is dedication.

But this book has merits. I understand how it sweeps off a lot of readers* feet. So let*s give credit where credit is due. Did I just say it was bad-ass? Yes, it was really action-packed. Bursting with exhilarating action. The author didn*t hold bars. When it is kick-ass time, it is really kick-ass time. Yukiko could be annoying but she is strong. She owns herself. She relies on herself. And while the romance? (lust?) almost made my eye roll (wait, I did roll my eye!) I like that it didn*t consume her like other heroines I*ve read before.

And well, there*s Buruu. This creature had me heart and soul. More than Yukiko actually. I also like the background story of the first Buruu, and it made me cry reading his story. It was very heartbreaking. And quite honestly this was the only time I have genuine emotional connection with the book. Then there*s the new Buruu. I liked Yukiko and Buruu*s connection, interaction. One, if not the only aspect that made the book worth giving two and a half stars.

Even though I sound so negative, I still think the book is worth the curiosity. There are a lot of people who loved the book and I can see why. And maybe you could be one of them, so go ahead and try it and judge it for yourself. The book*s idea is impressive, if only it was executed properly.

I felt the author*s enthusiasm on Japanese culture. It was very evident in the book. I also think it was smart of him to take a different route from the usual. I don*t often come across books like these. It definitely piqued my interest. And anything Japanese (or Asian) inspired is a major win for me. is innovative and completely, hands down bad-ass. This book surpasses on many levels. I do think that there*s a huge chance that it will exceed the previous book but I still didn*t expect it to be#amazing. Like super amazing (x100)! I don*t know what to say, really. There are not enough words to describe this book; and my feelings towards it. It just great, awesome, amazing, excellent, remarkable, etc. Take your pick because I don*t even know how to express my feelings right now without sounding like a deranged fangirl (because I Am. Deranged fangirl, I mean. And I*m not ashamed).

has blood, pain, anger, and loss. But there*s also love, forgiveness, and friendship. And I love how she carefully weaved them together. I admit, my huge interest for this book has something to do with Kaylee+Tod but the book (series) is much more...more about life and death. Even though it is fictional and all that, it gave me an afterthought: that there*s fate far worse than death.

There are deaths here. And yes, that*s plural. And they*re not only nameless/faceless people. Some are characters I end loving so I*m really sad of what had happened to them. And to make matters worse, their deaths? It was a cruel way to go.

Since I don*t know how to piece all my thoughts together, I*ll just write them one by one:
Everything that doesn*t hurt is just#emptiness. It closes in on me when I*m alone, and I hate it, but I can*t fight it. 每 Kaylee
Kaylee*s adjusting to her new status. To save Tod*s afterlife and clean Nash*s name she took on a new role. She*s now an extractor, reclaiming stolen souls. She*s just like Tod, being there but not alive and it feels different. And we can see how she*s coping to her new existence. She was glad that Tod was with her. Helping her (in many ways. Delicious ways#I*ll get to that later.) with her afterlife. I*m also glad that even though that her dad acts like nothing changed (that she didn*t die) it somewhat relieves the feeling of emptiness she*s experiencing with her new life. I like her dad; he was making up for the lost time. I think it*s cute and great of him to still treat Kaylee the way a father should be regardless if she*s alive#or not.

While Kaylee*s growth had stopped〞literally. But she is still growing in different ways. I loved her determination but at the same I loved that she shows vulnerability. You can see that she can lead people now. She makes decision even though she*s not sure if it*s right one. Dead or alive, she*s still the same girl for me: still taking risks, makes mistakes. But she*s learning from it.
He gets to kiss you, but I don*t? I don*t understand how we got here, Kaylee.§ 每 Nash
It feels...different that Tod and Nash have their roles reversed. Not that I*m complaining.

I love Nash. And I said this before: I like Nash and Kaylee. I don*t like them as much as like Tod and Kaylee, but seeing him broken and in pain is still#sad. But I liked his progression here. In fact, he*s much more active here than he was in the last two books. He*s in pain, yes but Kaylee explained what went wrong with their relationship. In retrospect, their relationship didn*t have a foundation. It was just there, already standing. So when the storm came it crumbled down easily. It could be anyone/anything it doesn*t necessarily have to be Tod (but I*m glad it was him). But it hurts him more because he loved these two people, and they betrayed him.

I think when he finally saw how Tod and Kaylee really are; he finally realized that it is truly over for them. He hasn*t forgiven Tod completely. But he*s there#almost there.

Oh, and Kaylee and Tod? It was everything! I*m on cloud nine!

I have lots of quotes to share but I keeping some so you have things to look forward to (and there are tons to look forward to. I guarantee you). It just Tod!!! Gawd, he*s so dreamy.

Blond and beautiful! I can*t argue with that description. Not only this guy is good looking but man, the guy is#TOD! *swoons*

And for the record, I do not think Tod is perfect. Every single one of the characters here is flawed. That includes Tod. And that*s why I like them all (sans the hellions). I even like Thane, I know insane.
※How is it possible that every time you open your mouth, I〞§ fall more in love with you ※〞melt a little more? Seriously. There*s nothing in here but mush.§ 每 Kaylee

I don*t think you*re the only one Kaylee. I*m one of the hundreds〞thousands girls who is also nothing but mush. He knows how to work it (words#and everything else ;)).
※Forever used to feel like a curse. Now it feels like a promise.§ 每 Tod
*faints* No explanation needed.
※You*re not lost, Kaylee. You can*t ever be lost, because I*ll always know where you are. And if I*m not there with you, I*m on my way, and nothing standing between us will be standing for very long.§ 每 Tod

※She*s the reason my heart beats〞literally. There*s nothing I wouldn*t do for her. There*s no one I*d put ahead of her. And I will never, ever leave her, as long as she wants me.§ 每 Tod
I need my own TOD. Where can I get a man like him?! *swoons for the nth time*

I don't think it's necessary to explain the quotes further. The quotes speak for everything I want to emphasize. And if you think that Tod*s the only one making this declaration, Kaylee did too. These two...they just &fit.*
※No. But you can get a cake. Chocolate, with cream cheese frosting. And I get a corner slice.§ 每 Kaylee

See? They even like the same cake. (read )

Buckling up for . Thinking it*s the last book makes me teary. I*m going to miss them# T.T

And even if I*m not that fond of how Alenna and Liam developed romantically, I still like their chemistry. Besides, Liam is not hard to like.

Alenna has a lot more to improve. Her survival here was due to the other characters that have superior skills than her. I know she was a newbie to the team, haven*t adapted fully to their environment. But David was also like her, but his chosen tactic was clever. I hope she grow a pair. I don*t dislike her, she got guts but I hope it*ll be back-up by actions. Maybe next time.

Towards the end there were lots fascinating and surprising stuff revealed. Lots of things happened to Alenna and the others, though some of it felt tad contrive. But the end result was still impressive, I can sense where the plot is heading to, and couldn*t wait to find out if I*m right. ;)

Nothing beats the feeling of satisfaction after reading the book you expected to be awesome. I*ve been eyeing this baby for a while and lo and behold it was on galley grab. It's nothing short of amazing how years can change one's opinion. Even though I have long past the point of where I consumed young adult novels like I'm running out of books to read, the decision to pick this up remained pretty easy (thought it took me months to finish, as I was barely holding on). I knew I had to read this despite the interest for this kind of book has long gone. So I wasn't completely objective of my experience or how I felt reading the story narrated in Edward's POV. But this one I have to say, in a way, Edward himself ruined the fantasy of this mysterious persona that Bella painted him as (in her POV). For someone who was more than century old, he could be little more teen-like and very human?〞whether that was deliberate or not, it didn't bother me. Reaching the end was the only goal, learning something new of the same story was just an added bonus.

368 Megan Shepherd 0062128043 Mitchii 3 And *drum roll please* a love triangle. That*s The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd in a nutshell. So if you like some mystery, as well as this gothic-suspense feel on your reading you will definitely like this book. This one has that and a few more stuff to offer.

Juliet Moreau is a daughter of well-know scientist. Her father was a notable person back in the days. They held parties; well-known people attend those gatherings and they shared laughter with her parents. But later when he was branded as a monster everyone turned their back on them. As in everyone. Everyone closed their doors for her, their wealth is gone. Everything is gone. She was left alone in such a young age. But despite all of that when she heard that there*s a possibility that her father is still alive somewhere, she took the chance. She went on a journey along with his father assistant, Montgomery and they traveled to an island where she heard where he was. They also stumbled across Edward Prince a castaway and brought him along to the island. Little did she know everyone is connected to each other. And someone from their group is responsible to the deaths that happened in the island.

We and the book didn*t hit off immediately. I can describe the first half of the book painfully slow and lack the thrill I was hoping from a book consist of horror elements to it. A madman experimenting on humans and animals, and creature on a killing spree〞that already gave me goose bumps. I*m not much of a horror fan myself but this unknowingly got me interested. But what I expected to be this stirring plot line didn*t happen in the first half. When I reached the second half that is when things are falling into place. And my allegorical light bulb lit and guessed how the characters are connected to each other.

There*s this dreaded love triangle. But do not fear my dear readers; it wasn*t a dreadful one (that statement is solely based on my standard. So believe me on your own risk). While I actually prefer the gentle (who*s not really a complete gentleman) Edward, I don*t mind Montgomery if ever she end up with him. Like I said, it was an acceptable love dynamic because of the way they were connected seemed logical to me. Of course expected the confused between two lovers drama of the heroine, since Juliet is not so strangely and contritely drawn to them. But we know the tried and tested formula for this one: first guy gets the girl#most of the time (unless the guy has a huge fanbase, things will flip three sixty. Ah, the power of fandom).

Do not stop reading even if you hit the reader*s block for the first half. This part was a preparation for something big although I would really appreciate if the events are really engaging because for me it was a complete lackluster and if I didn*t know about the huge twist that will happen in the end I would*ve give it up. But I*m glad I hold on tight, did not remove my imaginary seat-belt so I buckled in and ready for the huge reveal in the end. And when I said huge, it was freaking O-M-G moment. Saving it from my earlier distaste and expecting for a more solid plot in the next book.

Ok, you guys, I*m ready to speak. I*m ready to shout it out to each and every one concerned about how much this book disappoints me. I know it*s unfair to judge and rate it based on who Clara ended up with. It is totally and utterly unfair. But the story treated the one I preferred for her the exact same way. I wish he hadn*t been that understanding. I wish he had done something awful. I wish he hadn*t been that supportive of her. I wish there was something negative to say about him. But I come up empty-handed. Because if there*s one thing all that has happened to them proves, it*s that he completely, definitely, and truly LOVES her. As in just her, and not because of anything else.

Before I go to my main point, I would like to tell you good people, especially those who like the story regardless of who she ends up with, that the conclusion of this trilogy is actually well executed. Ms. Hand knitted all those loose threads together. So much so, that sometimes I think it crushed all the possibilities I had been considering right after I read it (all of which are connected to my main concern). It was so clean, so spotless, that it felt a little flat to me. But overall, the story was fascinating. While yes, I would*ve changed a few [major] details about it, I sincerely enjoyed the majority of it

Now, let me start with my Christian Prescott-centric review, and please, if you haven*t read and aren*t too fond of spoilers, stop reading this review now. I*m about to gush recklessly, and I don*t want to ruin anything for you. But if you don*t mind, go ahead and spoil to your heart*s content.
I love you,§ he murmurs. ※Can you feel that? You. Not some destiny I think I*m called to. You. I*m with you. My strength. My soul. My heart. Feel it.§ 每 Christian to Clara
The constant argument against Christian and Clara*s relationship is that it wasn*t love〞that they were just connected because of their purpose. Sometimes that word irked me the most, because after Hallowed ended, I saw that Christian*s gestures were no longer just tied to their divine mission. While I do admit that I think Christian and Clara*s relationship began because of it, the moment he found out Clara was just like him triggered something in him. But more than that, it gave him someone with whom he could finally share the intimate details of his life〞someone who truly understood his circumstances.

However, I sincerely believe that he fell in love with her because of the time they spent together. He finally got to know who Clara truly was〞the Clara beyond his vision, the real Clara Gardner. She is more than the person or angel-blood mysteriously entwined with his (their) purpose. She is just Clara: the sarcastic, fun, beautiful, and strong woman he fell in love with.

Yes, bottom-line is HE LOVES HER. Purpose aside, he truly loves her.

But there*s something about you two, when you*re together. It*s like you fit.§ He grins. Shrugs. ※He*s your soul mate.§ 每 Jeffrey

You know what I hate the most is how the story established how they fit together. How pleasant and romantic the idea of them together. It*s like all facts headed straight to point A (Christian) then suddenly it went to point B (Tucker). I don*t have anything against Tucker. I*m even on his team before, my review can attest to that. But like I said, why make Christian so damn supportive? Why show us the possibility that makes a lot more sense than the time she was with Tucker? I*m here asking those questions. Still asking them.

In , I was actually surprised that they ended up as an item. But it only showed how Tucker grounded Clara*s life. That it showed that her life is not driven by anyone but by herself. It*s her life, her wheel. But in , during and after the situation she was with her mother and how Christian was there for her, it showed a lot about their potential as a couple. It says a lot about Christian as well, and the way they supported each other in that moment. They shared many things aside from their heavenly lineage. If Christian found someone who could now understand him, Clara did have that too, with Christian.

His dedication to her in didn*t falter. In fact, during all the important events that happened with Clara or in the story, Christian was there. My head couldn't wrap around the idea of Tucker getting the larger picture. It was a lackluster and shallow reason that he is her "home." And even if Clara was indecisive and insensitive, Christian still never left her side. Even if he bends his principles, he will do it for her. And in all the major events (even painful ones每especially painful ones), the one person who was always there for her was Christian. He proved his devotion over and over again. He*s so unselfish. Isn*t that a characteristic of true love? But yet all he had done is now pointless because he didn*t get what he deserves. I*m not just talking about Clara. If there*s one character that deserved a well-earned happy ending, it*s him.
#Maybe I*ll catch up with you in a hundred years or so.§ # He smirks. ※I won*t call it waiting,§ 每 Christian

Ah Christian, how can you be like that? So# almost perfect. And up until now, he*s still hoping. He deserves someone, but my stubborn heart still aches for Clara. I don*t know, but I feel that his happiness would be complete with Clara at his side. But Tucker*s new situation changed the ball game. I hope his &longevity* is not as long as Methuselah. Because, darn it, that would crush my already itsy-bitsy hope.

Anyway, I loved the story. While I think is the best book of the series for obvious and biased reasons, I*m still not taking back what I said: that this series is one of the best-written angel books (or paranormal books) out there. I was actually amazed at the extent of her research for the story, even going to the places personally. It showed that she poured everything into this. I might be upset and dissatisfied, yes, but that doesn*t change the fact that it was an excellent story.

After reading reaction:

Too many emotions. I don*t know where to start. Or how should I start. There are expected awesome moments, as well as heart-crushing ones. If you*re asking if it*s about CHRISTIAN, it is. I loved his character. So much that the ending made every bit of the book pointless. Yes, I did not like the ending . While I did mentally and emotionally prepare thanks to early reviews, the reality of it still hurt pretty damn bad.

I*m still processing everything. Sorting it out. I forewarn you that my review for Boundless will concentrate more on Christian. I don*t like Christian just because of Clara, I loved him for who he is. Him alone. And it pains me that after all he went through, the one piece that missing still not filled. Ok, I*m not making sense anymore. And btw no Tucker bashing here. I liked the dude, believe it or not. But it just doesn*t make sense to me on how little he played in this book but still got the major development. Not just in his love life but his entire being. Lucky, cowboy!

Review will up soon. Tomorrow...I think. Too tired right now.

Here's my full review (spoilers ahead):

416 Anne Blankman 0062278835 Mitchii 3 Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman was good despite the long drawn out historical tidbits it shared. The backdrop of the story was World War II (in Europe). I*m not very familiar on what happened on this side since in our history classes, we mainly focused on the war between Japanese and American (since US had military bases here in the Philippines). And although I do know what happened (at least the basics and and some from The Sound of Music), the information was a little overwhelming to follow. I*m not really the biggest history fanatic so that was a huge roadblock to overcome. I also think the very first half was stretched-out and sorta lackluster since not much was happening at that moment. I kinda understand though because it was setting up the pieces for the latter half. Although I did notice that pace did improve, and it started to get more interesting (especially they were trying to know more about Hitler and what they thought of him. She (Gretchen) was now actively participating rather than absorbing what she got from others. I felt like the ending was clipped short (not that I want more, surely not). I just felt like what I didn*t read (on what they were about to do) are much more interesting than what I did read. But I'm not sure if I'm reading the sequel...

474 Katie McGarry 037321099X Mitchii 4 Crash into You is one of them. I think this is by far my favorite book of hers. I had grown to love Isaiah and I think he*s probably among the three whom was more broken and scared. My heart just went immediately to this guy. I*ve come to like Rachel too. And just like Isaiah she has problems on her back that needs to be sorted out.

McGarry*s novel is not complete without two equally lost souls; both Isaiah and Rachel were broken in different yet similar ways. Isaiah like we all know from the previous novels is very fierce and very loyal. He has a strange but tight relationship with Noah and Beth. He*s not good on keeping up with relationship with other people (aside from his two friends) so he keeps people on arm*s length. So he was confused when Rachel suddenly thrust into his life. He wanted her out of his life but surprisingly he can't do it. Not when he suddenly found himself caring for her〞protective of her.

Rachel has some issues she*s dealing with: with her overprotective family and his medical condition that she tried so hard to hide from them. Her problem was about to add more complication when she suddenly saw herself in a mess but fortunately was saved by Isaiah. And she thinks he had done more than saving her that night.

I liked Isaiah and Rachel*s story better than the first two novels from the series. I have genuine connection with them. Their issues weren*t dramatically & overly painted; so when the process of recovery was happening to them it was believable〞very realistic. But the real star of this novel is none other than Isaiah. I*ve been intrigued with this guy ever since so I*m so happy that the author gave his own book too. And she marvelously did so. I loved everything I learned about him: his tattoos, his relationship with his family (particularly his mother) and his worries over his future. He looked so strong with his outer appearance but he*s very fragile inside. I liked how the story managed to interlace these qualities convincingly into his personality.

Rachel has her own wounds to tend. She has a mother who is too protective of her because of what had happened to her sister. And because of it she was viewed by her family weak. They treat her like the way they treated her sister. But she*s not her sister; there are things that she wants, things she likes. And she*s struggling to release them so she can be her own self.

The romance was delicately done which is a complete surprise to me. But then again I had misunderstood Isaiah; because what lies inside of him is a very caring guy. It manifested throughout the development of their relationship. And while there was instant attraction between them, it managed to establish it in a more sincere way.

What*s more to say than I love this book; heck, I*ve even come to love other characters too: like Abby, Logan, even Ethan & West. This book for me was undeniably entertaining. And I like every bit of pieces it has.

※Life is different out there. I*ve survived because of what I make people think. No one messes with me, and that same reputation has kept you safe because no one would mess with anything that*s mine.§ 〞 Isaiah (from Uncorrected Digital Galley)

The Giving Tree 370493
So begins a story of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein.

Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave.

This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation. Shel Silverstein has created a moving parable for readers of all ages that offers an affecting interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return.]]>

Shooting Stars 11983951 you go without your Us Weekly fix?

Meet Josephine Foster, or 'Zo Jo as she's called in the biz. The best pint-sized photographer of them all, Jo knows that the public-and the stars-have a symbiotic relationship with the paparazzi. She doesn't mind doing what it takes to get that perfect shot, until she's sent on a major undercover assignment to shoot Ned Hartnett-teen superstar and the only celebrity who's ever been kind to her-at an exclusive rehabilitation retreat. The money will be enough to pay for Jo's dream: fine portrait photography classes, and maybe even quitting her 'zo gig for good.

Everyone at the retreat wants to know: what Ned's in for? But Jo certainly doesn't know what she's in for: falling in love with Ned was never supposed to be part of her assignment . . .]]>

Unraveled (Intertwined, #2) 7696564 With four〞oops, three now〞human souls living inside his head, Aden has always been "different" himself. These souls can time-travel, raise the dead, possess another's mind and, his least favorite these days, tell the future.

The forecast for Aden? A knife through the heart.

Because a war is brewing between the creatures of the dark, and Aden is somehow at the center of it all. But he isn't about to lie down and accept his destiny without a fight. Not when his new friends have his back, not when Victoria has risked her own future to be with him, and not when he has a reason to live for the first time in his life#.

Where It Began 11724858 A teen's world comes crashing down in this compulsively readable YA debut that's as literary as it is commercial.

Gabby Gardiner wakes up in a hospital bed looking like a cautionary ad for drunk driving and without a single memory of the accident that landed her there. But what she can recall, in frank and sardonic detail, is the year leading up to the crash.

As Gabby describes her transformation from Invisible Girl to Trendy Girl Who Dates Billy Nash (aka Most Desirable Boy Ever), she is left wondering: Why is Billy suddenly distancing himself from her? What do her classmates know that Gabby does not? Who exactly was in the car that night? And why has Gabby been left to take the fall?

As she peels back the layers of her life, Gabby begins to realize that her climb up the status ladder has been as intoxicating as it has been morally complex...and that nothing about her life is what she has imagined it to be.]]>

Above 11250671 I read that word in one of Atticus's thick old books once. When I went to Jack to ask what it meant, he held his hands out and they glowed so gentle I thought they might kiss the air, and since that day I wanted a place that was iridescent, that lit without burning. Being in love is sort of like that, when it's real. When it's true.

Matthew has loved Ariel from the moment he found her in the tunnels, her blond hair shining and her bee*s wings falling away. They live in Safe, an underground refuge for those fleeing the city Above--as does Whisper, who speaks to ghosts, and Jack Flash, who can shoot lightning from his fingers.

But one terrifying night, an old enemy invades Safe with an army of shadows and only Matthew, Ariel, and a few friends escape Above. Forced to survive in the most dangerous place he can imagine, Matthew strives to unravel the mystery of the shadows' powers and Safe's own secret history. For he knows he must find a way to remake Safe--not just for himself and his friends, but for Ariel, who's again faced with a life she fled, and who needs him more than ever before.]]>

I go to a new school now〞one where no one knows that I should have graduated long ago. I*m not still here because I*m stupid; I just don*t age.

You see, I*m immortal. And I pretty much know everything after hundreds of years〞except for when to take my powers and butt out.

I want to help, but things just go awry in ways I could never predict. Like when I tried to free some children from a gingerbread house and ended up being hanged. After I came back from the dead (immortal, remember?), I tried to play matchmaker for a French prince and ended up banished from France forever. And that little mermaid I found in the Titanic lifeboat? I don*t even want to think about it.

Now a girl named Emma needs me. I probably shouldn*t get involved, but her gorgeous stepsister is conniving to the core. I think I have just the thing to fix that girl〞and it isn*t an enchanted pumpkin. Although you never know what will happen when I start . . . bewitching.]]>

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn't actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else's mind and experiences the world through that person's eyes. She's slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed "friend" when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie's slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can't bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting distant lately, especially now that she's been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.]]>

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he's a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she's more than interested. There's just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she's willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she's not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life.

But my opinion from last time didn*t change, the story felt unfamiliar. Left a comment in Defy Me calling these three additional books, strangers. And they truly were. I wasn*t sure whether I was in the right headspace to read it or it was just fully my impulse to ※get it over with§ as I read the hopefully true last book of the series. Three legendary dresses.
The competition of a lifetime.

On the fringes of the Great Spice Road, Maia Tamarin works as a seamstress in the shop of her father, once a tailor of renown. She dreams of becoming the greatest tailor in the land, but as a girl, the best she can hope for is to marry well.

When a royal messenger summons her ailing father to court, Maia poses as his son and travels to the Summer Palace in his place. She knows her life is forfeit if her secret is discovered, but she'll take that risk to save her family from ruin and achieve her dream of becoming the imperial tailor. There's just one catch: Maia is one of twelve tailors vying for the job.

The competition is cutthroat, and Maia's job is further complicated by the unwelcome attention of the court enchanter, Edan, who seems to see straight through her disguise. But nothing could have prepared her for the final challenge: to sew three gowns so dangerously beautiful, it will take a quest to the ends of the earth to complete them . . .

There was certainly a Project Runway there#maybe like 30%? And the Mulan, yeah there was too...2%? She sneaked in as a guy on behalf of her ailing father/brother although Mulan done it better〞with conviction! This wasn*t a bad read though. I remembered the characters, pretty much everyone. I also liked that there wasn*t unnecessary info dumping, it was show more less tell which I appreciated. But Asian inspired wasn*t all that evident. It could be any continent and it wouldn*t matter. The romance leaves a lot to be desired.

※Be careful what you wish for§ fits exactly to my narrative. I think it was better left as trilogy as this extension offered nothing but confusion. It tried so hard to connect things from original plot and there were handful of details that you can play it with without making it obvious that there was really nothing to make a new story out of it. And you know what, yeah it was THAT obvious! The ※we were connected when were still young, therefore it was fate§ drama was just too unnatural. It felt like stranger.

So#it*s been a while since I did some reading (books! I read tons load of graphic novels in the past three years I can*t even describe!) and the news of getting back to reading this series〞a continuation gave me nothing but pure delight at first (I love this series too much!!) but I felt conflicted after reading Restore Me: one hand, I could really say that I really enjoyed it! Surprisingly 50% of the reason was Kenji (Kishimoto, man, I love you!) and the other, I didn*t like how predictable some things were (yes, even the break up didn*t surprise me, I smelled the inevitable love drama from the moment the fourth book was announced! My shoujo manga expertise tingles~) but yeah, I liked it. I*m excited to read the fifth book. I mean, the ending like WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!

<![CDATA[The Iron Traitor (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #2)]]> 18510457
After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as "normal" as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for--his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he's forbidden to see her again.

But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, "normal" simply isn't to be. For Ethan's nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan's and Keirran's fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan's next choice may decide the fate of them all.

THE IRON FEY]]>

I'm more connected with Ethan this time. I feel his agony and confusion over the things that has happening to him. I mean, unlike Meghan he*s 100% human. He doesn*t have magical tricks on his sleeves to help him out when the going gets tough. But I commend this boy for still facing those problems. He and Meghan*s bond as a sibling is one also of the things I liked about the story. Meghan cares for him and that didn*t waver all this time. Even he*s all grown up, her worries over his safety is still there. Especially Meghan knows the impending event that will happen between him and her son, Keirran. In the first book (and the novella prior to it) revealed the prophecy surrounds the two. And it looks like things are starting to fall into place. And no matter how they tried stopping it, things are beginning to happen.

I have conflicting feelings towards Keirran, sometimes I liked him sometimes I don*t (but most of the time I don*t). And with that ending I wanted to kick him to the pits and the darkest part of Never Never for doing such thing to Ethan. I don*t fully understand him and his intentions: if he*s doing it to for all fey or just to save his girlfriend. In the story, the fey is encountering their biggest problem: fading. With humanity*s evolution, the fear and beliefs of human has changed which greatly affects the existence of the fey. The reason why Keirran is gone missing for the first part of the story is he*s been looking for the solution for the problem. When they finally found out what it was, Ethan didn*t like it just one bit. This will bring chaos to mankind and seeing he firsthand experience this he doesn*t want it to happen to anyone. And so can I blame him for rejecting the solution that will risk not only his life but the entire humanity? So that*s why I care more for Ethan than his nephew.

I miss Meghan. They are still here, I feel like they all grown up〞wiser this time. And now they*re calling the shots. But even when she was just the lost and vulnerable teenage girl looking for her brother, she still has this strong aura. Even if the things were against them she managed to win her difficult battles and with scar no less. Sadly, Kenzie and Anwyl are too much of a damsel in distress to me. They are weak compare to Meghan. They do also try to help the boys out. But it wasn*t working, they*re weighing them down and I think they are crafted as love interest to the boys and serve no other purpose. Well, that*s just me but I still didn*t connect to them. I*m not expecting anything from them anyway, so I guess they should remain on the sidelines and do what they can. It is perfectly clear that this is Ethan and Keirran*s journey.

The Iron Traitor*s every nook and corner will surprise you. Just like the other books from the series this is jam-packed with action, magic and humor (greatly thanks to reappearance of my fave character: Puck〞how I miss thee!). I would have added romance then again I didn*t like the girls. But the other awesomeness make up (like big time) for lack of romance that is viable to my taste. Enjoy when it is out good peeps!

Why, the ending had me all surprised but at the same time not really. I mean with the title and the cover being clues of things to expect but still, half of it still caught me off guard. The fascinating thing though is I liked this book better than first. Why fascinating you ask? I*m madly in love with predecessor series that it was difficult for me to enjoy the book sans (or little) the original cast. That said Ethan and Keirran have managed to ease my little disappointment over the first book and brilliantly elevated the series much to my joy.

The length of this book must have hindered the potential of the story. I kinda like the underlying message here that sometimes the people we risk to love are not our HEA. Sometimes you met your first love but it's not your only love. Sometimes you met another one who will let you experience your heartbreak. And sometimes when you're lucky you will meet the person who matters the most--one true love. Overall, it was ok.

Taint (Sexual Education, #1) 22227607 Who am I?
And, what the hell are you doing here?
Let*s start with the most obvious question, shall we?

You*re here, ladies, because you can*t f*ck.

Oh, stop it. Don*t cringe. No one under the age of 80 clutches their pearls.
You might as well get used to it, because for the next six weeks, you*re going to hear that word a lot. And you*re going to say it a lot.
Go ahead, try it out on your tongue. F*ck. F***ck.

Ok, good. Now where were we?

If you enrolled yourself in this program then you are wholly aware that you*re a lousy lay. Good for you. Admitting it is half the battle.

For those of you that have been sent here by your husband or significant other, dry your tears and get over it. You*ve been given a gift, ladies. The gift of mind-blowing, wall-climbing, multiple-orgasm-inducing sex. You have the opportunity to f*ck like a porn star. And I guarantee, you will when I*m done with you.

And who am I?
Well, for the next six weeks, I will be your lover, your teacher, your best friend, and your worst enemy. Your every-f*cking-thing. I*m the one who is going to save your relationship and your sex life.

I am Justice Drake.
And I turn housewives into whores.
Now#who*s first?

Man, I love the girl, she was na?ve yet it didn*t feel forced or cutesy. She was just like that! You know from the bits and pieces she shared that she was just neglected and to think she almost sacrificed what she want for that douche of a husband! As for the guy, he was similar yet so different. I gone through it over and over again on what set him apart but I couldn*t come up with a solid explanation. I just liked him. The way his character fleshed out in the story was pretty impressive to me.

It*s really a good story! I enjoyed it a lot. There*s a twist in the end but didn*t really weigh so much on the grand scale (me thinks). When the bag was out, I was bidding my time for the reconciliation (simultaneously hoping that it*s a stand-alone) I mean, they*re lobsters! It has to be! So the final piece, man, I loved it! It feels deserving! For both of them!

He is her fucking lobster! Lobster! It doesn*t make sense but if you*re an avid fan of FRIENDS (like I am), you will totally get this analogy! Oh my gosh, I*m freaking rooting these two! Yeah, at first I found him cold, rational, straight to the point kind of guy. The type who will say exactly what*s in his mind and didn*t give the time of day for theatrics. His past made him that way! Enter the wife of a rich guy who was part of this retreat for rich wives. He though she was like the others but the more they spend time together the more he noticed things about her; so different from what he was accustomed of. She was different and he found it unbelievable that she was there because he knew that there was nothing wrong with her. He knew she was a good lover.

When the bag was out, I was bidding my time for the reconciliation (simultaneously hoping that it*s a stand-alone) I mean, they*re lobsters! It has to be! So the final piece, man, I loved it! It feels deserving! For both of them!

Divergent (Divergent, #1) 8306857 In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

487 Veronica Roth 0062024027 Mitchii 1 I didn*t like it. A lot of things in this book didn*t work for me. There are books that no matter how much other people like it will fall short to your standards. I didn*t rate it to be mean. The enjoyment factor wasn*t there.

I*ve been reading a lot of dystopian books. They*re popping like wild mushroom after a thunderstorm. Some are nice and some are obvious The Hunger Games reminisce, and to be perfectly honest, Divergent is one of them. Dystopian? check. Violent? check. Crooked government? check. Strong willed heroine? check, check, check. But sad to say I see a lot of plot holes and wrong conceptualization that are for me were hard to digest. I see why Katniss and the people of Panem want to start an uprising. I know why Cassia didn*t like how the society dictates their decision. It*s so obvious, there*s something wrong with their government. I don*t get it here, other factions want power? Because the Abnegation is corrupting their power? Or just simply because sorting them by trait didn't work. As much as I wanted to understand the form of government here, it*s just too weak and too obscure for me to grasp. Sorry. But as a reader I*m really frustrated with this book. So excuse my negative review.

I don*t see the point why it has to be bloody (literally) violent (I*m not totally against it, if it*s necessary why not. But some of them are, I think, not even crucial to the story). Maybe it*s just me, maybe I have very different, pacifist outlook on bravery, which is very different what the book portrays. What*s with the tattoos (yeah, like that*s only sign of toughness), killing each other just to get the edge on the ranking? What*s up with too much brutality? If they didn*t pass will they kill them? They*re just gonna be factionless, and if I read it correctly these are those who have blue collar jobs. And what*s wrong with that? So they*re saying that, what, 100 years from now, being bus driver or street sweeper is not a decent job? I don*t see the reason why they need to kill each other to belong to some group. I know the sense of belongingness, I know it. I learned it. I*m not saying that they didn*t need to work hard, of course if you want to achieve something you need to work hard for it. What I*m saying is that they are staking their lives over something that doesn*t really need to bet their lives on. I feel like they entered a gang, or a criminal organization and the likes, rather than a formal, government based group, because the senseless violence is really misleading. This book is really giving me the wrong message. Like I said, I have weird concept of bravery〞a less aggressive one.

As for the characters, all of them felt short. I don*t get Tris, I don*t like her. At all. Four/Tobias is just too typical for me. Didn*t leave any impression, good or bad. He is too bland. The supposed romance between them felt a bit rushed, thinly founded.

What really bothers me is the concept of grouping people by virtues; I don*t think that will ever work, fictional or reality speaking. I*m totally not convinced, it*s just way too impossible. I know, I know, it*s fiction, blah, blah, but the book said itself, you can*t sort people by qualities, because we are made of varying personalities (maybe that*s the little shrink in me talking *sigh*). Yeah, that concept wouldn*t sink in.

And before I get too worked up I*m going to wrap it now. I*m not saying it is a completely terrible book, because it isn*t. It has moment though very few. I rate it this way because I didn*t enjoy it and that*s important to me when reading a book.

496 Bree Despain 1606844067 Mitchii 4 The Dark Divine series though not so much with the ending; but overall I really liked it. So it was unquestionable that I automatically added The Shadow Prince (it was Into the Dark before, title changed I supposed), her brand new series to my TBR. And luckily I got an advance copy so yeah, I*m lucky, well, because I ended up liking it.

Haden Lord*s new mission is to bring this girl, Daphne Raines who was prophesied to be the Cypher, the key to finding the Key of Hades. Fortunately, Haden found her immediately but getting her to trust him wouldn*t be that easy. Daphne on the other hand, moved to a new place when her father was granted him custody. She is now enrolled in this prestigious school, Olympus Hills High. There he met Haden, who is one time mysteriously materialized out of nowhere when she was singing alone. She thought there something off with me. And once during their class, a heated debate happened between them. He seemed to be defensive about Hades, like he knows something about him that they don*t know, not even in the books.

Haden reminded me little bit of Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender; with his mission of reclaiming his honor as well as his mommy issues. He certainly has similarities to the Fire Nation*s prince. His back-story was definitely interesting, too. It showed how the system in the underworld had changed after Hades* death. And I really liked that twist that was injected in the story.

Like I said earlier, the momentum sort of resembled those books early post-Twilight years, where the girl meet the mysterious boy. Then girl noticed something different with the guy. Some online researching. Online research will tell her hints that he is indeed otherworldly. Guy will come out clean, tell the girl what he really is and the girl will believe him. But I*m going to stop right there, because I*m relieved to tell you that what they*re doing is more than just the two of them. It*s not just them against the world kind of drama. The prophecy is bigger than what the two of them represents and I really liked that.

The romance was restrained. It was still in the developing stages when it ended. Daphne was at first very distanced to Haden, which I think was an honest to goodness reaction (given how creepy he was at the start). The romance for me moved along with the plot without occupying too much space, dominating the story. So no, at the end of the first book they were not declaring forever. There were far more important things that they need to face and that*s what I liked most about it. It was truly entertaining.

For some reason, the story reminded me of these post-Twilight books. It was#nostalgic and strangely refreshing. There*s something about these books that is so easy for me to read, not that they are shallow or anything like that. I mean that in very positive way. They are remarkably entertaining for me. Maybe Someday (Maybe, #1) 18143950

And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one...

Original music created for Maybe Someday by musician Griffin Peterson can be accessed through the website listed in the ebook and paperback.

367 Colleen Hoover Mitchii 5 Maybe Someday is no exemption.

That day was definitely a bad day for Sydney. She found out her boyfriend cheating on her, with her roommate no less. And now she had no place to go. Until Ridge*s place open his door for her. Not only did she have new company, she also got herself in a song writing gig for a popular band. She found out that Ridge wrote most of the songs for the band, Sounds of Cedar. But staying in the same place, collaborating on songs, or just being together was not as innocent as they thought. Particularly now both of them realized that they were starting to develop feelings for each other. But Ridge has a girlfriend and she can see how he loved her. And she won*t allow herself to be like her roommate. She knew how betrayal felt and she would not do it to them. So she*d rather have herself hurt but all the while thinking that perhaps there is a someday for them.

There were lots of surprises for me here. I didn*t know that Ridge has a disability. But that doesn't define him and his complexity is not because of that. And I really loved what I read. I was so fascinated on his ability to compose song when he couldn*t hear the notes, the melody and instead he can feel them. I really liked that tidbit where he explained how a tune and song writing is not exempted to just hearing. It was clever. It was deep. I really liked his entire creative process. It made him so different to me because he allowed himself to showcase his strength in a very different way.

His past was also interesting. His family issues and his relationship with his brother strengthen him to be this guy he is today. And even his relationship with Maggie, her girlfriend (then) explained the length he will do to the people he cares. And so I really understand why he made that decision. Years with her were not something he can easily disregard in favor of something he wasn*t sure of〞regardless of how passionate he was.

The romance was, I don*t how to exactly explain it, but left me confused. To be perfectly honest I wasn*t a fan of the ending. With all these drama-llama going on with Maggie, Ridge and Sydney, and the story was almost at the end, I really thought that they wouldn*t end up together. This is to say, and surprising I may add, seems fine with me. Sydney was always holding on her mantra of ※maybe someday§ so I thought that maybe it*ll happen someday for them. Ridge*s feeling was still fresh and he even admitted it to her. So yeah, the idea seems more#ideal?

I was talking to my sister and she also agreed on my opinion about the ending. We wanted he sorted his issues first, distance himself for a while. And when things are ok then maybe they could start from there. You know, maybe someday. After all, the title gave me this idea of positive possibilities.

If anything, this book established what it was supposed to be: a companion, nothing more, and nothing less. Now, I know I*m little too harsh on it considering I do like the trilogy, but that itself made me a bit salty about how this book turned out. I was all excited to read this because I was big fan of Kaidan but you see, I realized that I do like him on Anna*s perspective; and when the spotlight was on him, I can clearly see the difference.

Sweet Temptation is more or less a rehash of the three books, now in Kaidan*s POV. As a love interest, he was swoon worthy, no doubt. But as the protagonist? Nah, he was bit on lackluster side. To be honest I found the entire thing a bit monotonous because, let*s face it, without Anna would he really stand up against his father? Anna clearly had an objective; he on the other hand rode her coattails. He did help out & I*m not dismissing that (Anna was pretty much na?ve when it comes to this stuff) but like I said he just accompanied her. He had character development because of it but all the interesting parts of the story where on Anna*s. It made me understand that it is important for me that a character needs to have solid resolution, Kaidan do have that but it hugely intertwined with Anna. So once the focus was shifted on him I saw his character*s evident shortcomings.

Did the book add more flair to the overall story? Not a lot. But it*s still worth reading if you ever curious on how he thinks/behaves. It might not be productive; at least to me it didn*t, but I still think it*s worth the shot. Honestly, I had expectations because I*ve always been fascinated with stories that have been told in different POV, much more if it is now narrated by favorite character. Obviously it didn*t happen here. It did solidify the fact that Sweet Evil trilogy was truly Anna*s journey.

This book is obviously should not be read without reading the first three & I really recommend for you to do it. This offered pretty basic deal to me. But still is disappointed that after knowing what running inside his head realized it wasn*t as strong impact to the story as would*ve thought of. Nevertheless I still enjoy few bits, learned new things about him & I*m pretty happy how his life (with Anna) turned out to be.
