Natural Order 11290015 “It’s beautiful, I said, even though it wasn’t my style. It was cut glass and silver. Something a movie star might wear. Is this what my boy thought of me? I wondered as he fastened it around my neck. He called me Elizabeth Taylor and I laughed and laughed. I wore that necklace throughout the rest of the day. In spite of its garishness, I was surprised by how I felt: glamourous, special. I was out of my element amidst my kitchen cupboards and self-hemmed curtains. I almost believed in a version of myself that had long since faded away.
--From Natural Order by Brian Francis

Joyce Sparks has lived the whole of her 86 years in the small community of Balsden, Ontario. “There isn’t anything on earth you can’t find in your own backyard, her mother used to say, and Joyce has structured her life accordingly. Today, she occupies a bed in what she knows will be her final home, a shared room at Chestnut Park Nursing Home where she contemplates the bland streetscape through her window and tries not to be too gruff with the nurses.

This is not at all how Joyce expected her life to turn out. As a girl, she’d allowed herself to imagine a future of adventure in the arms of her friend Freddy Pender, whose chin bore a Kirk Douglas cleft and who danced the cha-cha divinely. Though troubled by the whispered assertions of her sister and friends that he was “fruity,â€ Joyce adored Freddy for all that was un-Balsden in his flamboyant ways.Ěý When Freddy led the homecoming parade down the main street , his expertly twirled baton and outrageous white suit gleaming in the sun, Joyce fell head over heels in unrequited love.

Years later, after Freddy had left Balsden for an acting career in New York, Joyce married Charlie, a kind and reserved man who could hardly be less like Freddy. They married with little fanfare and she bore one son, John. Though she did love Charlie, Joyce often caught herself thinking about Freddy, buying Hollywood gossip magazines in hopes of catching a glimpse of his face. Meanwhile, she was growing increasingly alarmed about John’s preference for dolls and kitchen sets. She concealed the mounting signs that John was not a “normal boy, even buying him a coveted doll if he promised to keep it a secret from Charlie.

News of Freddy finally arrived, and it was horrifying: he had killed himself, throwing himself into the sea from a cruise ship. “A mother always knows when something isn’t right with her son, was Mrs. Pender’s steely utterance when Joyce paid her respects, cryptically alleging that Freddy’s homosexuality had led to his destruction. That night, Joyce threatened to take away John’s doll if he did not join the softball team. Convinced she had to protect John from himself, she set her small family on a narrow path bounded by secrecy and shame, which ultimately led to unimaginable loss.

Today, as her life ebbs away at Chestnut Park, Joyce ponders the terrible choices she made as a mother and wife and doubts that she can be forgiven, or that she deserves to be. Then a young nursing home volunteer named Timothy appears, so much like her long lost John. Might there be some grace ahead in Joyce’s life after all?

Voiced by an unforgettable and heartbreakingly flawed narrator, Natural Order is a masterpiece of empathy, a wry and tender depiction of the end-of-life remembrances and reconciliations that one might undertake when there is nothing more to lose, and no time to waste.]]>

<![CDATA[Pretty In Black (Pretty in Black, #1)]]> 11749127 On the day of her death, a seventeen year old cheerleader meets a vampire in the cemetery who saves her life.

Seventeen year old Eleanor Piper was supposed to die that day. She was sure of it. Only . . . she didn't. Somehow, she awakens in the cemetery at midnight where she awkwardly meets an unusual stranger . . . whom she ends up foolishly kissing a few bantering minutes later.

What begins as a fun and quirky romance eventually grows into burning devotion as he peels apart her layers, learning the heartbreaking truth behind why she sleeps in cemeteries at night instead of going home, and he reveals to her that he is an Evermore-Strix hybrid who could go dark at any second.

As they slowly begin to trust each other, and he finally trusts himself with her, he whisks her away to the World of Nevermore—a world of gothic castles, immortal knights, and a long history of angel-demon wars with the Nightly Shore Court on which a menagerie of bloodthirsty Strix monsters reign, determined to do anything in their power to take over Nevermore.

But just when Eleanor and Marcus feel like their dead hearts are beginning to heal, their haunting pasts the nightmares which ultimately led them to each other—return and threaten to rip them apart.

Set in the southern Gothic town of Pine Hills, South Carolina, with the beautifully haunting backdrop of drooping Spanish moss and crumbling overgrown cemeteries, the world of reality and fantasy are about to collide, and Eleanor just might realize that the boundaries between life and death are closer than she ever imagined.

From this darkly romantic world of raven and crow shapeshifters inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and Greek-Roman mythology, emerges a different take on the classic vampire.]]>

Rene has been sheltered for the past 20-years, living with the Mystic's, but with good reason, she is considered "the special one", the one the prophecies say she will be the one to defeat Damaskeos and finally restore her family's honor. Being half witch and half vampire, when she turns 21 she will be bitten and her vampire side will be awakened and give her powers beyond any of the Draven Witches, even her mother. So to keep her safe she has lived with on the Mystic Realm but now that she is close to her 21st birthday it is time for her to return to Earth and try to do what she wants the most.....live a normal life, impossible as when everytime she turns around she is being attacked even in her sleep she can't stop being attacked.

Things turn interesting when Rene meets her trainer, Devin, *drooling* things get too hot between them and Dad puts a stop to their training, Devin's replacement comes and the hotter then hell Tristian *drooling more*, and it gets even more interesting when William and Dante show up on the scene, *drooling even more*. I can't say anymore I don't dare spoil it for you.

Starting the book, it didn't take long for it to suck me in and keep me there until I finished the very last page, all my instincts about this going to be a good book were right, but it just wasn't good it was FANTASTIC. Zoey really set this series up with a huge bang. Rene was a very strong character for me which I love, it really gets on my nerves when a main character is flighty, can't make up their mind or make a decision, or worse whiny to the point I want to put the book away for a bit, yes Rene does whine in some spots but wouldn't you if someone is trying to kill you in your sleep, your burdened with the responsibility of being the one to kill this so called unstoppable beast and you have 4 men who you have feelings for and just can't seem to decide which one to choose because you have feelings for them all and don't want to hurt any of them, and all you really want is just a normal average life, yup I'd certainly whine sometimes too, but Rene is also a no nonsense put her cards on the table, let's get the job done gal, and I loved that about her, but she was also soft, caring and very protective of her family and friends. Just an all around great main character.

If you like being on a roller coaster ride then start reading this book, it will take you on a massive emotional ride you won't soon forget. A cast of incredible characters, plot and story executed beautifully. When I read the pdf file I loved it, when Zoey sent me the revised autographed hard copy I read it again and loved it even more with the new changes that were made, you see the growth within the writing it was wonderful. The emotions I went through while reading were exactally what I like when reading a really great book.

If you are looking for an absolutely fantastic series this is the book you need to pick up and start reading, I can tell you it is one you will not be able to put down until your done. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!! Enjoy everyone.

When I received this book in return for a review from the author, Zoey Sweete it came to me in a PDF format and I was so excited to read it I dove right into it and we all know I love anything to do with vampires and witches. I was excited to read it because it didn't seem like it was going to be just another vampire book, it really peeked my interest when the main character was half vampire half witch. I asked my self "how can this be, I was always under the belief that vamps and witches hated each other", and so I began my journey into The Draven Witch Series.

Review from Connie J Jasperson, Author's blog Best in Fantasy!
"I LOVED this series. Sera and Tor are a great couple, and their struggle to find safety takes them to many dangerous places. Still, they find others like them, others who do not fit in and who are unhappy with the atrocities committed in the name of war.

Buy the first instalment for .99. Just do it.

You won't be able to rest until you have read them all."

Review by Michele Stefanides Author of Tales From Shrimps
"Two Moons of Sera, or 2MOS as Tyler refers to it, is a delightful read. Although written in words, 2MOS leaves me feeling as though I’m being carried along through the story on the wind of a song. It feels lyrical and fluid, those feelings heightened by the sea-side setting."

Review by Dannye Williamsen Author of Second Chances and The Threads That Bind
"It isn’t often that I am swept into the current of a story as quickly as I was with Pavarti K. Tyler’s Two Moons of Sera...Being an impatient reader, I would not normally choose a serial novel; however, if the subsequent volumes are as well-written and attention-grabbing as this one, it would be worth the wait."

Review by james crawford Author of Caleo
"This is a great start to what I am sure will be an amazing serial Novel. I loved the world Sera lives in and how we are learning about it through her eyes along with her. By the sounds of it, Sera's world is only going to get more complex and wonderful as she discovers her place in it. I am very fond of Sera. Although is raised in a very sheltered way, her world literally stops at the edge of the beach, she is a strong willed, adventurous woman and I can’t wait to see her character develop."

Review by ME Summers
"One of the best things about this story is its rich description of setting. The characters move through the story with sand and cliff and scratchy tree, punishing sun and cooling sea. It has the effect of making the fantasy feel real. I can easily see the landscape as the characters move through it, and it gives me a grounding in reality I need to really connect with a fantasy story."]]>
276 Pavarti K. Tyler 0983876924 Natalie 5 Length of the book is only 41-pages, and for a short book it really grabs your attention and pulls you in to keep reading right until the very end. I'm also starting to really like the smaller books more and more each one I pick up, it's nice to have a 300++ page book as you get all of the story all at once, but with the smaller books they leave you wanting more, as is the case with this small book.
I love the world and characters Pavarti K. Tyler has created, such a different set of beings so different than most. Serafev the main character is in exile, she is a half and half, not a full Sualwav or a full Erdlander. The book is so descriptive and I love that in a book, it really allows you to put yourself right into the story. You really have to read the book slowly, even though its small you must read slowly so that you don't miss out on anything, the twists and turns are absolutely amazing and the cliffhanger at the end has left me wanting more......right now lol. I can't go into to many details for a small book as I will ruin it for you, and nothing I hate more than spoilers. :)

<![CDATA[Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours, #3)]]> 17699859 James and Cordelia must save London—and their marriage—in this conclusion to the Last Hours series from author Cassandra Clare.
Chain of Thorns is a Shadowhunters novel.

Cordelia Carstairs has lost everything that matters to her. In only a few short weeks, she has seen her father murdered, her plans to become parabatai with her best friend, Lucie, destroyed, and her marriage to James Herondale crumble before her eyes. Even worse, she is now bound to an ancient demon, Lilith, stripping her of her power as a Shadowhunter.

After fleeing to Paris with Matthew Fairchild, Cordelia hopes to forget her sorrows in the city’s glittering nightlife. But reality intrudes when shocking news comes from home: Tatiana Blackthorn has escaped the Adamant Citadel, and London is under new threat by the Prince of Hell, Belial.

Cordelia returns to a London riven by chaos and dissent. The long-kept secret that Belial is James and Lucie’s grandfather has been revealed by an unexpected enemy, and the Herondales find themselves under suspicion of dealings with demons. Cordelia longs to protect James but is torn between a love for James she has long believed hopeless, and the possibility of a new life with Matthew. Nor can her friends help—ripped apart by their own secrets, they seem destined to face what is coming alone.

For time is short, and Belial’s plan is about to crash into the Shadowhunters of London like a deadly wave, one that will separate Cordelia, Lucie, and the Merry Thieves from help of any kind. Left alone in a shadowy London, they must face Belial’s deadly army. If Cordelia and her friends are going to save their city—and their families—they will have to muster their courage, swallow their pride, and trust one another again. For if they fail, they may lose everything—even their souls.]]>

Chain of Iron is a Shadowhunters novel.

Cordelia Carstairs seems to have everything she ever wanted. She’s engaged to marry James Herondale, the boy she has loved since childhood. She has a new life in London with her best friend Lucie Herondale and James’s charming companions, the Merry Thieves. She is about to be reunited with her beloved father. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret: Lucie, that she plans to raise Jesse from the dead; Cordelia, that she has sworn a dangerous oath of loyalty to a mysterious power; and James, that he is being drawn further each night into the dark web of his grandfather, the arch-demon Belial. We Are Not Ourselves 17830123
Born in 1941, Eileen Tumulty is raised by her Irish immigrant parents in Woodside, Queens, in an apartment where the mood swings between heartbreak and hilarity, depending on whether guests are over and how much alcohol has been consumed.

When Eileen meets Ed Leary, a scientist whose bearing is nothing like those of the men she grew up with, she thinks she's found the perfect partner to deliver her to the cosmopolitan world she longs to inhabit. They marry, and Eileen quickly discovers Ed doesn't aspire to the same, ever bigger, stakes in the American Dream.

Eileen encourages her husband to want more: a better job, better friends, a better house, but as years pass it becomes clear that his growing reluctance is part of a deeper psychological shift. An inescapable darkness enters their lives, and Eileen and Ed and their son Connell try desperately to hold together a semblance of the reality they have known, and to preserve, against long odds, an idea they have cherished of the future.

Through the Learys, novelist Matthew Thomas charts the story of the American Century, particularly the promise of domestic bliss and economic prosperity that captured hearts and minds after WWII. The result is a riveting and affecting work of art; one that reminds us that life is more than a tally of victories and defeats, that we live to love and be loved, and that we should tell each other so before the moment slips away.

Epic in scope, heroic in character, masterful in prose, We Are Not Ourselves heralds the arrival of a major new talent in contemporary fiction.]]>

<![CDATA[Smoke and Mirrors (Blood and Light Vampire, #2)]]> 12176603 book introduces a deeper look into the vampire city of Valon, that all vampires derive from. It begins taking a darker turn as you are
invited into their world and their lack of compassion for the human race and, even in some cases, a total disregard for their own kind. As
the story twists and turns, you are also introduced to two new vampires, Jonah & Lily. They are the sister/brother team, who run a traveling
carnival, luring unsuspecting humans into their lair, not only to seduce…but to feed upon.

Rue faces many dangers in this addition, not only from her own kind…but this new vampire breed…that of the rogues, who serve no one but
themselves and their own desires. Rue also struggles with her want to be "normal", as she comes to terms with the fact that she is indeed a
vampire of great importance. As she navigates her way through this, she is also coming to realize that Joshua Barrington has seduced her and
perhaps stolen her heart.

Please join us as you find yourself sucked deeper into an epic story in the life of one girl, who has good intentions but may indeed be her
own worst enemy. Book two is more graphic in nature…with language, sexual situations, and violence. Sure to make you laugh, cry…and realize
that sometimes you find yourself standing at the corner of WTF and OMG.

Patti Roberts Natalie 5
Each new book brings this story together just a bit more than the last book did and answers questions you have at the end of each previous book, I really like how Patti does that. Some authors have a great start to a series and end on a great cliffhanger but when the second book comes out it does not pick up where it left off and leaves you confused until half way through and by that time it's just lost me and I give up reading it. Patti has you hanging on the edge of your seat when you leave and still has you hanging on when you start the next book, it's like a great T.V. series and the season ending has just closed with a jaw dropper and you can't wait until the new season begins.

We start off action packed and raring to go, Grace is now older and getting smarter to her legacy and abilities. All characters return which I was so happy to see, but even more happy to see Patti is now having them share their stories as to who they really are and how and why they are important to Grace and where and how they fit into her life. Wade *drooling* (my hubby) is hotter and stronger than ever. Kate (Katherine) just plain cracked me up, you will see why when you read the book, I can't say much more or I'll give out spoilers. Patti's growth astounds me with each book I read from her, the shear talent she has for building such a unique world, from the Grigori to the Bakhna Rakhna people to the Atnangkers. The detail is incredible, so much detail Patti gives us, but not so much that you get overwhelmed and want to put the book away. It lets your imagination see and feel what she is describing to you.

I don't usually rate but I have to give this one 5 purple stars as it is in my opinion the best one so far of this awesome series. It a ride from page one all the way to the very end with a cliffhanger that I absolutely did not see coming, Patti's book are very unpredictable and I love that in a great book. The story flows seamlessly, the characters you will fall in love with, the good ones and the bad ones, twists and turns that keep you turning the page and impossible to put the book down until your done, heart pounding moments that will having you gasping, moments that will tear you up, make you laugh out loud, and just sit and read while smiling. I hope you all will go get your copy and start reading this amazing book, enjoy everyone I know I sure did!!!

Well first off I have to say it's good to be back, I know I haven't written here for quite some time and I am very glad to be getting back to what I love the most, reading and telling all of you of the wonderful books I have read and I'm so excited to get started with book 4 of this amazing series I have been telling you about since I first started my blog. As most of you know when I started my blog Patti Roberts was one of the very first authors that gave me her first book Paradox - The Angels Are Here as an ARC for a review. It was at that moment I fell in love with it and have been beating down Patti's virtual door for the past 3 years now for each new installment of the series, I'm sure she's just about had enough of me bugging her lol, but, if she didn't write some of the most awesome books I wouldn't keep bugging her asking her "are ya done yet'? "are ya done yet:? "Seriously, no pressure but when are you going to be done with the next book"? And as punishment she sends me a chapter lol, and cliffhangers, oh how she leaves me with jaw on the floor cliffhangers.

It was an easy book to read but don't read it to fast or you will miss some details that are very important. Megan and her mom are the very best of friends and when her mom says she is going to start dating, Megan has a very bad feeling about this, and not too long after her mom starts dating she is proved right about her bad feeling when her mom meets Armando, a very yummy handsome Italian art dealer...so they think that's what he is. Not long after mom meets Armando, Megan meets Guy a deliciously handsome new student at her school. Now they both have hot new men, but something is just not right about mom's and something about Megan's is a little of kilter as well.

Megan's best friends Matt and Erin think she is crazy when she has announced that she thinks her mom's boyfriend is Satan....yes Satan himself. So they give her a week to prove it or lose them forever. As Megan sets out to prove she is not crazy, all hell breaks loose, literally all hell breaks loose.
I really liked Megan, at first she come's off as a spoiled brat who is being selfish not wanting to give up her mom's attention or affection, but as the book goes on you start to really like her more and more. I love her strength and persistence trying to save her mom and the love she has for her. I know this feeling as my mom means so very much to me as well. This story will take you through all kinds of paths and just when you think you have this story all wrapped up and figured out the Author sends you down a totally different path you absolutely did not see coming. I loved all the twists and turns and roller coaster ride he takes you on with this book, it was an awesome ride. I will not give anymore away, you will just have to pick up your copy cause if I say anymore I will spoil it for you and we all know I hate being spoiled. This is a total must read. Ok my peeps, we have a new hot book here on our hands and I mean smoking hot. I read this book in a day and a half it was that good, I even got caught at work having a peek into the next chapter, lol no worries though I was on my lunch break. When I started this book I though this would be a read for a younger generation but to my surprise this book totally sucked me in right from get go and didn't let go until I was done. No that's wrong, it still has a hold on me to the point I email Mr Lowe the Author and begged him to please let me be one of the bloggers to be able to read/review the second book in the series. Boyfriend From Hell has the first chapter of the next book at the end of it and I couldn't put it down. He said yes by the way lol so stay tuned for that review.

<![CDATA[A Discovery of Witches (All Souls, #1)]]> 8667848
Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

Debut novelist Deborah Harkness has crafted a mesmerizing and addictive read, equal parts history and magic, romance and suspense. Diana is a bold heroine who meets her equal in vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont, and gradually warms up to him as their alliance deepens into an intimacy that violates age-old taboos. This smart, sophisticated story harks back to the novels of Anne Rice, but it is as contemporary and sensual as the Twilight series-with an extra serving of historical realism.]]>

Moving to Salem had been something Sarah had been thinking about for some time, after divorcing her ex-husband she had packed up and left Los Angles to start her new life. Hoping her change of location would put a stop to the dreams she has been having, dreams of a faceless man.....it didn't stop them.

I had a chance a while back to speak with Meredith Allard, I was supposed to read/review but my computer had crashed and I had lost all of my books so when I was asked to review again through Bewitching Book Tours I jumped at the chance having wanted to read for some time. When I had spoke to Meredith and had a chance to ask a few questions one was on the research she did for this novel. I was very impressed that she travelled to Salem to do her research and I loved seeing her pictures on her website she took while there. It always impresses me when an author puts so much time and effort into their research and writes with accurate times, dates and the stories being told are accurate as well.

The first book for me was a job well done, creating the characters, the story line, and the detail Meredith put into describing and setting the stage for the first of three novels was outstanding, it pulled me into the story and held me it captivated me. Leading into book two it wasn't just another story about vampires, werewolves and witches. It was much more than that, yes it's a Paranormal novel but it also tells of a story that can be very much related to today's times, of what other cultures have to go through when their culture is not understood and people are scared of what they have heard through gossip or word of mouth, not by getting to know a person and understanding for themselves, seeing a person for who they really are not what they are.

When I was almost to the end of the second book, I had to slow down my reading as I really did not want the story to end, I was bonding with the characters, with their situation, cheering on their love story and for the fairy tale ending, but of course it being the second book I was left with a cliffhanger that left my jaw hanging open. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the last chapter. I can't wait for the third book to come out and hope it's soon. This really is a must read and I know you will all enjoy it as much as I did!!!]]>

Decker Roberts has Synaesthete's abilities, synaesthete's is a person who has the ability to see if someone is telling the truth, what a gift to have I'm not sure if I would want that gift or not, would it be a burden? Well Decker has it and now a new deadly game is afoote. America has some of the best young minds and they are being murdered, now if that was the only problem Decker has it gets worse, he needs to find his estranged son before the others find him.

As with his first book Mr. Rotenburg has again captured my attention with this incredible well written book, the story line, the plot, the characters are all woven like a perfect web you get caught in while reading. I have really enjoyed his style of writing, very smooth and the story flows nicely as you switch from scene to scene, some books that do this I sometimes have to go back feeling I missed something, but that is not the case here it flows, with great twists and turns and an ending I DID NOT see coming I am waiting for the third book in this series, and as a fellow Canadian it is a bit more special to read places I have seen. This is not my usual genre of reading but I always love going outside of my comfort zone and finding a gem when I do. A must read series and bravo Mr. Rotenburg I can't wait for the next book.

Cleopatra: A Life 7968243 The Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer brings to life the most intriguing woman in the history of the world: Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt.

Her palace shimmered with onyx, garnets, and gold, but was richer still in political and sexual intrigue. Above all else, Cleopatra was a shrewd strategist and an ingenious negotiator.

Though her life spanned fewer than forty years, it reshaped the contours of the ancient world. She was married twice, each time to a brother. She waged a brutal civil war against the first when both were teenagers. She poisoned the second. Ultimately she dispensed with an ambitious sister as well; incest and assassination were family specialties. Cleopatra appears to have had sex with only two men. They happen, however, to have been Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, among the most prominent Romans of the day. Both were married to other women. Cleopatra had a child with Caesar and–after his murder–three more with his protégé. Already she was the wealthiest ruler in the Mediterranean; the relationship with Antony confirmed her status as the most influential woman of the age. The two would together attempt to forge a new empire, in an alliance that spelled their ends. Cleopatra has lodged herself in our imaginations ever since.

Famous long before she was notorious, Cleopatra has gone down in history for all the wrong reasons. Shakespeare and Shaw put words in her mouth. Michelangelo, Tiepolo, and Elizabeth Taylor put a face to her name. Along the way, Cleopatra’s supple personality and the drama of her circumstances have been lost. <![CDATA[Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly]]> 33313 A deluxe, annotated edition of Kitchen Confidential to celebrate the life of Anthony Bourdain, featuring new photo inserts

Over two decades ago, the New Yorker published a now infamous article, “Don’t Eat Before Reading This, by then little-known chef Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain spared no one’s appetite as he revealed what happens behind the kitchen door. The article was a sensation, and the book it spawned, the now iconic Kitchen Confidential, became an even bigger sensation and megabestseller. Frankly confessional, addictively acerbic, and utterly unsparing, Bourdain pulls no punches in this memoir of his years in the restaurant business.

Fans will love to return to this deliciously funny, delectably shocking banquet of wild-but-true tales of life in the culinary trade, laying out Bourdain’s more than a quarter-century of drugs, sex, and haute cuisine. Including a handwritten introduction and annotations done by Bourdain about a decade after the book was originally published, this edition also features previously unpublished photos to accompany the now-classic text.]]>

Patti Roberts Natalie 5 After reading the third installment of this series I am left speechless, truly, but for all of you I will try very hard to put into words what I want to say about this novel. I guess I'm speechless (which never happens lol) because this was such an incredible book, I have loved this series right from the very first book where I fell in love with everything about it, and with each book Patti puts out my love for this series grows. The only problem is, with each book I get I read it too fast and end up having to wait 8-9 months for the next installment.

What do I do in between them you ask, well usually I email Patti harrassing her to write faster so I can get my hands on the next one :) and to drive me crazy she will now and again email me an excerpt, I guess thats payback for bugging her to write faster lol, but I do tell Patti that if she didn't write such amazing books I wouldn't be in withdrawls for the next one!!

In book #2 Patti leaves us with a cliffhanger that left my mouth hanging open and after much anticipation book #3 opens with a bang, right where we left off at Grace's Masquarade Ball at her school. She and Riley had gone as Guinevere and King Arthur, when Grace slips away to find Dameon and all hell breaks loose and the last thing she remembers is jumping off of a cliff and thinking she is about to die. Only to wake up in bed the next morning, it must have been a nightmare....wasn't it?

Like I said book #3 opened with a bang!! I was very happy to see some of my favorite characters back, Angela, Zach, Clair, Sonndra, Riley, and Josh. If someone asked me which is my favorite character, I don't think I could pick just one, Patti has made it impossible to choose just one, each one of them has something special that I like, but, all of them together make one hellva team, Patti's characters good and evil blend and work together in a way you would think not possible but they do. It's seamless they way she's blended both worlds, and those that haven't read this one or the whole series yet are in for a special treat.

Book 1 at the end offered its own set of hanging question and were answered when book 2 came out and we got a bit of a closer look at The Grigori, the Fallen Dark Angels, and again the ending offered more of its own hanging questions, but that is what a great series is all about leaving you hanging with tons of questions you just can't wait until the next book comes out to have the long awaited answers. With book 3 our questions were answered and with it we dive deep into the family Grigori and the other families that make up the other realm, we get much more of their story told and with that story many pieces of this wonderful puzzle Patti has designed fall into place.

I'am absolutely amazed at how this series has unfolded, sometimes when Authors flip back and forth from world to world and time period to time period it can become confusing and I have found myself flipping back and forth trying to remember what I had read from a few chapters back, but with this series Patti has been able to tell so many different stories, world to world, time period to time period with out missing a beat and without confusing me at all, and found my self turning the pages as fast as I could to get to the next part and had to slow down so I didn't miss anything it's so detailed. Oh the details, beautifully told so magical everything described made me feel like I was right in the story. It reminds me of a V.C. Andrews series where she gives you the story in the first 2-3 books and then in the 4th or last installment gives us the whole story from way back, how things come to be even before the original story happened a "full circle" so to speak, but with the ending of this book I have no doubt Patti is finished yet......I hope not!!!

I love books, all books for the most part there are some I just won't read because it's not my thing, but, then their are some books where I fall in love with them, the characters, the story, the plot and how it's played out, how the story is told the writing and when it's done I have bonded so much with the story and it's characters I feel well lost without them, the story is over now what? But the good thing is I know another installment is coming so for now I can rest easy it's not over quite yet. I have said with each review how talented I think Patti is, but with each book I see her talent growing as a writer, as an Author but more importantly as a phemonial story teller with great vision and an amazing imagination. You have to have an imagination to be able to produce such a top notch story like this one, it's just mind blowing.

Not only has Patti created these amazing two worlds she has taken that extra step and designed everything to visually build and support which in my opinion only genious, not only do we get to imagine these incredible worlds but we get to see how Patti see's what she has created. With most books we don't get to see that until much later, when the series is done and years later its made into a movie. Patti has created all of this and keeping in time with each book as it comes out. Here are some pictures of what some of the cast looks like.

If you haven't read book 3 yet it's a real must read and if you haven't started reading this series yet......welllll you are missing out on a spetacular series of books. Im not going to say too much more so I don't spoil anything for you all. Visit Patti's website here to see more of the worlds that have been masterfully created. As the book opens we get a much more detailed and in depth feel for the evil Grigorians, the characters she has created are like nothing I have seen so far, for "The Bad Guys" characters even though they are evil, you just want to like them sometimes, Abandon is my favorite of them so far, I mean come on now who doesn't love a bad guy now and again and with his yellow eyes oh yummy yummy, he can look at me any day *blushing* and his brother Lord Cerberus who reins is very much oblivious to the fact that his own wife Pandora and his flesh and blood brother Abandon are in a scheme of their own together to get rid of Cerberus. The fallen angels (Grigorians) are fighting at any cost against any that get in the way, against the Burgardians.

Every time I read another book from Patti her imagination amazes me and the worlds and characters she has created are one of the most original stories I have had the privilege to read, as she introduces new characters the story evolves, Temulun, a servant and Bakari, a guard in the royal house are trying to help Keyla a newcomer, to discover the heritage, an ancient race of people called the Bakhna Rakhna, and abilities she has in hopes they can finally put an end to the Grigorians.

As the story continues to the present time, we catch up with Grace, Angela, Wade *sighs* oh Wade, ahem excuse me all for drooling over Wade :) Kate (Grace's Mom) and a few new friends have been introduced Joshua and Zach, and Damon. So I have to stop there and tell you all, *giggles* Patti has honored me with being a character in her book, I am none other than Wade's *sigh* wife, yup I am the big handsome hunky yummy Aussie's wife, now if you go onto Patti's website she has pics there of possible actors if her books ever get turned into a movie, O...M...G I am one lucky wife if that's who she gets to play Wade *sighs while drooling* thank you Patti :) that was my birthday present, how rockin a birthday present was that to be named a character in such an awesome series of books. Yay Me!!!

Ok back to reality now, so we catch up with Grace who is now sixteen and in high school and just as I loved Grace in the first book, I love her even more now, Patti has left no question from book one left unanswered and if anything expanded with sheer brilliance and ability to bring us right into not only Grace's world and her life but that of the Grigorians and the Burgardians. This book has left me breathless, really breathless, I waited so long to read this one, she has exceeded every expectation I had. I felt like I was right there in the story, few books are able to do that to me, but this one did, I could smell, hear, feel what everyone was doing, the book drew me right into it, I felt like I was able to be with Grace while she was growing up, and watching her bond with Wade grow, and her friendship with Angela get stronger as well, it was nice to see her mom getting back on her feet, I know how that is, it was hard watching my mom get back to herself when my dad had passed away.

Angela as always is another one of my favorite characters, she is ultimately there to protect and watch over Grace but also has become Grace's best friend, Angela has no sense of humor, everything she does and says is very matter a fact, but the way she comes out with things she just cracks me up, and poor Joshua has such a MAJOR HUGE crush on Angela, I hope in the next book Angela will see how much he likes her. Now Damon, oh Damon I haven't still even after finished reading made up my mind about him yet, I like him but yet very suspicious of him still, he makes you want to like him though, so I think I'll stay on the fence with him for now, but I also liked Riley, oh Riley I almost forgot about him, a new character as well, comes in as the pizza delivery guy, Riley he's a cutie and also likes Grace, wow Grace is having lots of boy issues in this one ;), but I would have to say one more character that I really did like a lot and one I hope I will see more of in the next book is Abe, Grace is babysitting one night and Abe is a little eight year-old dynamo, man he's got her back and then some he's just a little firecracker I just loved that kid, I can't say anymore than that or I'll give some stuff away. I had everything around me in my own surroundings tuned out and all I could hear was what the book was describing. Patti's talent how she describes everyone and everything is nothing short of amazing.

Now I can't go on too much more else I spoil this long awaited book for you, and I hate spoilers so I'm not going to go on too much more. I will only say this much more, this is a MUST READ and it's a huge honor for me to be able to review this amazing book for Patti. Patti and I met almost one year ago when she asked me not long after I started my blog to read and review her first book of the series, from that our friendship was born and has grown over this year, I not only recommend this book because she is a dear and wonderful friend, but I recommend this book because she is a talented Author who has done an incredible job creating a world and Beings I have come to love reading about and I can't wait for the next book to come out, I really hope she is writing very fast so I don't go into withdrawals lol. I am absolutely over the moon excited to be sharing my review for this new book in Patti's series Paradox The Angels Are Here. Paradox: Progeny of Innocence is probably the best book to start off your New Year with I kid you not. <![CDATA[Perfect Strangers (A Historical Romance)]]> 12043950 319 Rebecca Sinclair 1614170746 Natalie 5

I have to say this is a Historical Romance at it's finest, It has everything you want in a Historical Romance, I love reading from the 16th Century England/Scotland. Gabrielle Carelton is on her way to meet Collin Douglas her betrothed, but, on her journey she is kidnapped by a man named Black Douglas. Black Douglas has a reputation of being one of the most fierce men with our mercy for anyone, but, he just happens to also be Collin Douglas's twin brother.

I am not going to spill all the details and if I go to deep I will spoil it for you and I don't want to do that, but I will say this is an absolute MUST READ, if you like Historical Romance then you will love this book, I love the two main characters Rebecca has built, very strong, strong willed characters, Gabrielle is a "sturdy" woman who has lots of self doubts and more worries than a lady should have, Collin, so different from his brother. In the beginning of the story of two people that were strangers, enemies in fact, only to be into a love story you will think about long after this book is done.

I myself being not a perfectly shaped lady, truly loved this story more as Gabrielle was described the same, and to be recognized for her inner beauty is more than what's on the outside, when a story is written like this I feel it hits more readers as it makes the character more real, more identifiable with. It has everything you want in a book, romance, action packed, the right amount of danger, twits and turns that made me hold my breath and it was full of humour, just the right amount of everything that makes a good book great.

I hope you will all pick up your copy and enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy!!!!]]>

I was asked to read/review this book and since Historical Romance is one of my favorite generes to read besides Paranormal, I jumped at the chance. I have to say the cover art for the book is absolutely beautiful, makes you want to dive right into the story.

It was well written, well executed, the characters fit extremely well together. The anount of effort Carlyle put into the details made me feel like I was transported right into the story, I could see, feel, hear and almost reach out and touch a tree or a rock or or the water. I really love details like that in a book it draws you into the story, but she doesn't give you too many details that you can't picture the scene's and wonder what it would be like to really be there.

I find sometimes too much detail can ruin the novel, but this was just the right amount. I loved the characters, Go Team Troy!! They all worked so well together, it was hard for me to pick a favorite one I really liked them all.

Now I'm really not going to get into to much details of the book if I do it will ruin it for you and with such a detailed book like this one it's really hard to sum it up in a paragraph with out giving the story away, I will say if you don't read this book you will be missing out on a great series. This is the first book in The Broken Destiny series and I can't wait to read the second book, I hope Carlyle is almost done writing it because I really don't know how long I can wait for it LOL.

It wasn't your everyday vamprie book, or should I say paranormal, after all it is Fantasy, even for Fantasy characters and what they are Carlyle made very original, I haven't read anything like it before.

So I will close by saying this is a MUST READ book in this amazing series, well thought out, executed well, plot, story and characters all mixed and blended beautifully. I hope you will grab your copy and enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy everyone!!

I have said often that Fantasy is not my normal genre of reading, but everytime I read a new Fantasy novel I am pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it, which is not a bad thing as it has kept me reading them. Delilah Perrault is blessed with riches beyond her wildest dreams and the man she's had her eye on for ages--even though he secretly has designs on her newfound wealth instead. Delilah's half-sister, Isadora, is cursed with having her every utterance come out as an obscene and humiliating quip, just when the gorgeous hunk she dumped years before under pressure from mama swaggers back into her life.

This really is a great story, it pulled me in from the very first page and kept me turning the pages pretty fast right to the very end of the story. The fairy godmother such a fun character, very quirky I loved that about her. Now the two sisters stories are told separately but in one story. To look at the cover you would never guess how this story unfolds, it will make you laugh out loud, I know I did, and when you read sitting on the bus, you get some very weird looks lol, it had some great steamy scenes in it, and just when you think you have Isadora's character all figured out, you find how wrong you really are. I like Delilah's character as well, you would think you wouldn't like her, but you really do, and the villain couldn't have been more perfect for this book, very well done!!

You really have to go and get your copy of this book, you will not be dissapointed at and like I said at the beginning and leave you wanting more. This was a great new spin on an old classic tale, so if you like a story with the good and bad sister and the wicked stepmother and the fairy godmother, this will book will not let you down. So I sat down in my comfy purple comfy chair and started reading this 100+ page book and right away was sucked into the story. R.J. Sullivan's style of writing quite impressed me, the story flowed well and the characters were believable, and I could relate to them very well, it was a funny story sometimes, and made you absolutely cheer for Loretta while she was trying to save the one she loved from.....well not what you would expect really. Daryl has an obsession with his favorite movie star Maxine Marie, only problem is she is dead and some how returns from the dead and seems to be very pissed at him.

With Halloween coming this is a book you will not want to miss. An adult book for sure as some scene's are quite steamy, dam awesome steamy! A good love story, with some Paranormal thrown in, it was funny and I could relate to Daryl and Loretta as the book/movie loving geeks which is totally me. Loretta's dedication and love for Daryl and willness to stand and fight for her man was very nice to see, I know most women would have high tailed it outta there if they saw a ghost trying to choke the life out of them to take their man away for themsleves lol. I very much enjoyed this book and I know you will as well it was an easy fun read, thank you R.J. Sullivan for having me a part of your book tour. Enjoy everyone!!

<![CDATA[Her Dear and Loving Husband (Loving Husband, #1)]]> 11610337
Her Dear & Loving Husband, the new novel from Meredith Allard, is part literary fiction, part historical fiction, part romance, and part paranormal fantasy. With elements of Twilight and The Crucible, Her Dear & Loving Husband is a story for anyone who believes that true love never dies.

James Wentworth has a secret. He lives quietly in Salem, Massachusetts, making few ties anywhere. One night his private world is turned upside down when he meets Sarah Alexander, a dead ringer for his wife, Elizabeth. Though it has been years since Elizabeth's death, James cannot move on.

Sarah also has a secret. She is haunted by nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and every night she is awakened by visions of hangings, being arrested, and dying in jail. Despite the obstacles of their secrets, James and Sarah fall in love. As James comes to terms with his feelings for Sarah, he must dodge accusations from a reporter desperate to prove that James is not who, or what, he seems to be. With the help of their friends, witches Jennifer and Olivia, James and Sarah piece their stories together and discover a mystery that may bind them in ways they never imagined. Will James make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Sarah and prevent a new hunt from bringing hysteria to Salem again?]]>

Tess and Kipp have to be two of the most favorite characters I have loved reading. Tess is just a normal down to earth, girl next door kinda gal, living her life, going to work, being with her friend Carley, who by the way is so funny, I liked her right away, but Tess has this ability that really only Carley knows about. She has the ability to see, hear and talk with ghosts who haven't crossed over yet, she was in a fatal car accident and after being brought back to life woke up with this ability.

Kipp McGowen, a young cop, hot, sexy, funny, kind, did I say hot.....omg this man sizzles, but there's one problem....he's a ghost who is trying desperatly to get Tess to help him. The heat the bounces between Tess and Kipp makes you need to have a cold shower after reading this book, or go make your partner/spouse a very happy person :) So Kipp the hunk needs Tess to help him find out not only who killed him but Hannah as well which is contected to Kipp's death as the story begins. This book is packed full of everything you look for in a great book, funny, shocking, mystery, a love story, sizzling sexy scenes, a fantastic plot and story line that will take you on an incredible rollercoaster ride of emotions with an ending that I DID NOT see coming. I could NOT put this book down, I read it in a day and went on to book #2 and read it in a day.

Book two picks up right where the first one ends, now you really must read them in order to understand and grasp the whole concept to fully enjoy them. The cast of characters is one you will bond with, Eddie, Max, Zach, I'd have to say Zach and Carley are so funny, they are like your best friends, you will laugh out loud at Tess with her bold attitude, she has no problem telling you like it is, she is a call em how she see's em gal, but kind, vulnerable, soft hearted. I really liked Tess she reminded me of myself lol.

This series is one you really don't want to pass by, if your looking for something new, action packed, great love story, sexy, hot as hell scenes, fantastic cast and an outstanding story, this is the series you will want to sit out on your deck in the wonderful sun or take to the beach with you. This is a huge summertime hit and I can't wait until the Fall for book #3, I will probably have withdrawls until I get the third book in my hands. Bravo Stacey Kennedy Bravo!!!! Enjoy everyone!!]]>

As of late my head has been tightly wrapped with reading the Historical Fiction/Romance which I love so much, but when an email for this tour came to me I had to stop so I could read this series. The covers drew me in and when I read the blurb I had a feeling it was going to be a good series. Now I am a total Paranormal junkie, but to be honest I haven't really read a lot with Ghost's, it is a particularly interesting subject to me being able to talk with the spirits, mediums and so on. My father passed away 5-years ago and I'll tell you there hasn't been a day gone by I wish to hell I could see him, talk to him just one more time. So when I read the blurb for this series I had a feeling it was going to be good. What I didn't realize was that is was going to be awesome.

Well I must say I enjoyed this little book so much, it was 40-pages but for 40-pages this little book was jam packed with twists and turns and a very wonderful story I wish had of gone on longer. The Tudor Throne 9376112 In the wake of King Henry VIII's death, England's throne is left in a precarious state—as is the peculiar relationship between his two daughters. Mary, the elder, once treasured, had been declared a bastard in favor of her flame-haired half-sister, Elizabeth, born of the doomed Anne Boleyn. Yet the bond between the sisters was palpable from the start. Now reinstated, Mary eventually assumes her place as queen. But as Mary's religious zeal evolves into a reign of terror, young Elizabeth gains the people's favor. Gripped by a tormenting paranoia, Mary is soon convinced that her beloved Elizabeth is in fact her worst enemy. And the virginal Elizabeth, whose true love is her country, must defy her tyrannical sister to make way for a new era. . .

A brilliant portrait of the rule of "Bloody Mary" and her intricate relationship with Elizabeth I, the adored "Virgin Queen," here is a riveting tale of one family's sordid and extraordinary chapter in the pages of history.

The Color of Tea 13259388 An exciting debut novel set in the exotic, bustling streets of coastal China—a woman whose life is restored when she opens a small café and gains the courage to trust what’s in her heart.

Macau: the bulbous nose of China, a peninsula and two islands strung together like a three-bead necklace. It was time to find a life for myself. To make something out of nothing. The end of hope and the beginning of it too.

After moving with her husband to the tiny, bustling island of Macau, Grace Miller finds herself a stranger in a foreign land—a lone redhead towering above the crowd on the busy Chinese streets. As she is forced to confront the devastating news of her infertility, Grace’s marriage is fraying and her dreams of family have been shattered. She resolves to do something bold, something her impetuous mother would do, and she turns to what she loves: baking and the pleasure of afternoon tea.

Grace opens a café where she serves tea, coffee, and macarons—the delectable, delicate French cookies colored like precious stones—to the women of Macau. There, among fellow expatriates and locals alike, Grace carves out a new definition of home and family. But when her marriage reaches a crisis, secrets Grace thought she had buried long ago rise to the surface. Grace realizes it’s now or never to lay old ghosts to rest and to begin to trust herself. With each mug of coffee brewed, each cup of tea steeped and macaron baked, Grace comes to learn that strength can be gleaned from the unlikeliest of places.

A delicious, melt-in-your-mouth novel featuring the sweet pleasures of French pastries and the exotic scents and sights of China, The Color of Tea is a scrumptious story of love, friendship and renewal.]]>
316 Hannah Tunnicliffe 1451682824 Natalie 5

Hannah Tunnicliffe has done both, created a beautiful cover very fitting for this book and I had absolutely no problem getting past the first 2 - 3 chapters, in fact the very first chapter had me captured and happily reading and not wanting to put it down at all. Now I'm not sure if you all know this about me, but some of my love's are food lol (who's isnt), a great book, and travelling (which I never get to do). I have always been very interested in Asian culture, it's beauty, serinity, work ethic, respectfulness, lanuage, their love of family, it is a place I have always wanted to travel to. Hannah's detailed descriptions of not only the character's she has created but the cafe Grace has built right down to Macau, China made me feel like I was right there in the story. I could see, feel, hear, and smell everything she was describing, some books go overboard with the details so much that it leaves nothing to the imagination, that was not the case here.

I have to say for a debut novel Hannah has come out with a huge bang! I really loved this book, it is an easy read as the story flows with all the right elements in all the right places. The characters, oh how I loved them all, I made a connection with all of them from Grace to Rilla, Gigi and Marjory and Gigi's grandmother Yok Lan. Grace started out as a weak character but given her current circumstances you understand why, and I really don't think it was that she was weak as much as it was she just didn't understand how to break away from her sadness the was overtaking her. Once Grace decided to open the cafe and the others entered her life that's when the cloud started to lift from Grace's life and eye's.

This was a fabulous story, a great plot and ending, it made me smile, laugh out loud, even tear up at times, it was emotional and I think throughout the book we could at some point relate in someway to what Grace was either going through for feeling. It made me not want the story to end, it would be great to have a second book years later to see how things turned out for all of them. Bravo Hannah, Bravo, a wonderful debut novel and I can't wait to read more from you. I highly recommend this book and hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy!!! ]]>

When I start reading a new book there are a couple of things that have to happen in order for me to one: start reading the book, and two: continue reading the book. The cover of the book is not always important for me but I do love a cover that captures my eye and I sit back and say "oh now that's a beautiful cover" but sometimes I find a cover of a book so beautiful or interesting it can be the only reason I get it and happy I did because it turns out it was an amazing book, but, sometimes that also back fires on me as well. Also if I can't get past the first 2 - 3 chapters most of the time I will put the book aside for a bit but I will always pick it up at a later time, I NEVER not finish a book, it's kind of like a "B" movie, ya just gotta find out what happens at the end of it lol.

The Help 6588662 Three ordinary women are about to take one extraordinary step . . .

Aibileen is a black maid in 1962 Jackson, Mississippi, raising her seventeenth white child. She's always taken orders quietly, but lately it leaves her with a bitterness she can no longer bite back. Her friend Minny has certainly never held her tongue, or held on to a job for very long, but now she's working for a newcomer with secrets that leave her speechless. And white socialite Skeeter has just returned from college with ambition and a degree but, to her mother's lament, no husband. Normally Skeeter would find solace in Constantine, the beloved maid who raised her, but Constantine has inexplicably disappeared.

Together, these seemingly different women join to work on a project that could forever alter their destinies and the life of a small town—to write, in secret, a tell-all book about what it's really like to work as a black maid in the white homes of the South. Despite the terrible risks they will have to take, and the sometimes humorous boundaries they will have to cross, these three women unite with one intention: hope for a better day.

She is one of a rare line of women who, upon her sixteenth birthday, will come into extraordinary powers used to hunt the Damned; escaped souls from Hell who take up residence in human bodies. It's supposed to be her sweet sixteen, but Amerie has never dreaded a day more, and her worst fears are confirmed as the celebration turns tragic when her mother is killed.

Grief-stricken, Amerie vows to never hunt a day in her life. She's determined to hide behind normalcy, attending school, hanging out with her friends and working an after-school job at The Hut. All Amerie wants is to be left alone. But try telling the Damned that. The harder Amerie tries to ignore her powers, the more the Damned come looking for her.

When an attack leaves one of Amerie's friends in the hospital, and endangers the lives of her fellow students, she knows she has no choice: Hunt or Be Hunted. Thankfully, the gorgeous, secretive, and so-off-limits Marshall offers to train Amerie to take out her supernatural enemies. But training with Marshall means lying to her friends, her family, and confronting the mysterious circumstances surrounding her mother's death.

Amerie soon discovers she's not the only one with something to hide, Marshall's secrets might kill her before the Damned get the chance.]]>
