عنوان الرواية باللغة العربية فوضى الأحاسيس، وبالفعل فإن القصة مجموعة من علامات الاستفهام الكبيرة لشخصيات معقدة نفسيا كل واحد منهم يرى علاقاته الإنسانية من منظور ضيق. حيث يختلط الاعجاب بالحب ويتحول لخوف وكراهية ثم شعور بالاستغراب والمفاجأة. الرواية قد تكون جريئة بمقياس زمن كتابتها في الثلاثينات من القرن الماضي، حيث تتطرق لعلاقات مشبوهة ومرفوضة، لكنها تبقى جزء من واقع الحياة في كافة المجتمعات لاسيما في أيامنا هذه، سواء كانت في العلن او من وراء الكواليس.

نتابع قراءة الروايات القصيرة للكاتب ستيفان زفايغ، وهذه المرة تدور أحداث القصة على سطح سفينة، حيث يلتقي بطل شطرنج عالمي في لعبة حاسمة ضد رجل نجا بأعجوبة من محرقة الهولوكوست. ذلك الرجل الذي اتقن فن لعبة الشطرنج باستخدام أدوات بسيطة، وصارت رفيقة وحدته في السجن.

رواية أخرى للكاتب النمساوي ستيفان زفايغ، عنوانها "الخوف". بطلة الرواية سيدة من عائلة ثرية، زوجها محام شهير ولديها طفلين. تعيش هذه السيدة فراغا روحيا، وتشعر بفتور في علاقتها الأسرية وسرعان ما تنجر وراء أحلامها الرومانسية فترتكب الخطيئة. يسيطر عليها تأنيب الضمير والخوف من انكشاف أمرها. تارة تخاف على سمعتها في الأوساط الراقية، وتخشى ردة فعل زوجها تارة أخرى. وما زاد الأمر سوءا ترصد امرأة شريرة لها وتهديدها بفضح سرها. فتضطر السيدة لاسكاتها بالمال، حتى أوشكت على الافلاس، فأعطتها خاتم زواجها الثمين. وهكذا صار الخوف من الفضيحة والتهرب المستمر من المواجهة أقسى عقاب لها. نهاية الرواية غير متوقعة واتركها للقاريء.

كتاب من أدب الرحلات، يحكي فيه قائد الدراجة النارية الكندي جيرمي كرويكر عن رحلته من كندا، إلى وجهة غير متوقعة بالنسبة لي وهي زيارة ضريح الإمام الرضا عليه السلام في مشهد. نقطة الانطلاق من كندا إلى تركيا بالطائرة، ثم الانتقال برا بالدراجة النارية عبر مدن تركيا من الجزء الأوروبي إلى الآسيوي، ثم الانتقال إلى سوريا ولبنان بانتظار الحصول على التأشيرة بإجراءاتها المعقدة إلى إيران. ولم يتمكن جيرمي من المرور عبر العراق بريا نظرا لظروف الحرب آنذاك، فسافر جوا إلى طهران وأصفهان وحل ضيفا على الإمام الرضا. والجميل أن المؤلف كان قبل ذلك في حالة تردد ديني، رغم التزامه بالمسيحية منذ الصغر، إلا أنه بمرور الوقت فقد الروحانية والتدين. وفي زيارته للضريح - رغم كونه غير مسلما - انتابه شعور بالصحوة تجاه الدين وتجاه الله بدون أن يكون ذلك تحت راية دين أو مذهب معين. اتقن المؤلف وصف البيئة الثقافية والاجتماعية للدول التي زارها من منظور زائر كندي لا يعلم الكثير عن الإسلام ولا المسلمين، كما لا يخلو الكتاب مواقف طريفة ومقالب ظريفة تشجع القاريء على إكمال الكتاب في زمن قصير.

ولا يخفى على القاريء أن المؤلف ينتمي لتيار المؤرخين الجدد، الذين ينتقدون بشكل عام الفكر الصهيوني الاستيطاني وجرائمه المرتكبة بحق الفلسطينيين، ويدعون لمراجعة تاريخية ناقدة لسردية الصهاينة التي تقول بأن فلسطين كانت أرض بلا شعب، سيطر عليها شعب بلا أرض.

ورغم أن الكتاب يركز على السيرة الذاتية للمؤلف، إلا أنني شعرت خلال قرائتها بأنها تفتح الكثير من الملفات التاريخية والسياسية، لاسيما فيما يتعلق بوضع الأقليات اليهودية في الدول العربية، وأسباب هجرتهم للكيان الغاصب، وما تعرضوا له من خسارة مادية واجتماعية، وما عانوه بصفتهم يهود الشرق العرب (السفارديم) كذلك من عنصرية على يد اليهود الأوروبيين (الأشكناز).

قرأت ثلاثة أرباع الكتاب ولم أتمكن من إكماله رغم محاولات عديدة. عنوان الكتاب يتحدث عن بناء الوطن العربي لكنه واقعا يركز على تاريخ مصر ولا سيما الصراعات بين السلطة والتيارات الدينية. الكتاب مفيد وتعلمت منه الكثير لكن به كثير من التطويل لا داعي له.

رواية 1984 للكاتب البريطاني جورج اورويل. من أجمل وأخطر روايات الديستوبيا (المستقبل المخيف) والتي كتبت قبل سبعين عاما ولكنها تصف واقع العالم في يومنا هذا بدقة متناهية. يشعر القاريء بأن جورج اورويل استطاع التنبؤ بجدارة بالمستقبل حيث تحولت الهواتف الذكية وكاميرات الذكاء الاصطناعي إلى أخ أكبر يراقب ويسجل ويخزن كل ما تقوله وتفعله بل وكل ما تفكر به بصمت. كذلك استطاع أورويل أن يصدم القاريء بالمتناقضات فمثلا هناك أربع وزارات تسمى وزارة الحقيقة، ووزارة الوفرة، ووزارة الحب، ووزارة السلام. إلا أن عملهم هو النقيض تماما. هناك أجزاء صادمة في الرواية حول غسيل دماغ ونستون بطل الرواية، أو بالأحرى تجريده من كل فكرة وشعور وقيمة إنسانية وتعريضه للعذاب والألم لمجرد السيطرة عليه وتحطيمه نفسيا وجسديا.

قراءة مختلفة للسيرة النبوية يتحدث فيها المؤلف عن طبيعة الحياة في قبائل مكة قبل البعثة النبوية الشريفة وما تبعها من تغيرات لما بدأ الرسول الأكرم بالدعوة لدين الله سبحانه وتعالى في الدعوة السرية والجهرية مرورا بغزوة بدر وانتهاءا بغزوة أحد. يحاول المؤلف جاهدا اقناع القاريء بإن الرسول صلى الله عليه واله وسلم خرج طالبا للتغيير السياسي والاجتماعي بالدرجة الأولى ومسألة الوحي والنبوة ليست سوى وسيلة لتحقيق غاية الوصول للسلطة التي كانت بيد الملأ من أشراف قريش وتحويلها بمكاسبها السلطوية والمادية لصالح الضعفاء والفقراء من المهاجرين المتحالفين مع الأنصار. حاول المؤلف تسليط الضوء على الأحداث التاريخية المبهمة وسعى إلى تضخيمها كي تبدو للقاريء وكأن السيرة النبوية قائمة على سلسلة من الاغتيالات والخداع والتحيز والنفعية ولم يقدم بشكل متوازن الجانب الاخلاقي والاصلاحي الذي حققته الدعوة خلال حياة النبي صلى الله عليه واله وسلم. ولكن يبقى الكتاب في نظري جيدا كونه يطرح وجهة نظر مختلفة تدعو القاريء البحث والاطلاع لكشف أي غموض.

من الأمور التي لم تعجبني في الرواية كثرة الشخصيات وافتقار العمق في تحليل كل شخصية. كما أن الرواية تركز على سرد الأحداث المتوالية بدون التوقف لوصف السياق ليسترد القاريء انفاسه، مثلا هناك روايات أخرى تصور للقاريء الطبيعة المحيطة أو وصف محتويات المنزل او ما شابه ليسهل على القاريء تصور الأحداث بصورة أقرب للواقع.
كما لم يعجبني في الرواية سذاجة بعض الشخصيات - مثل سونجا في علاقتها مع هانسو في بداية الرواية، وهانا مع سولومون في ختام الرواية، وتعامل هانسو مع الفتاة التي كانت تنتظره في السيارة خلال مراسم العزاء.

تعد رواية باتشينكو للكاتبة مين جين لي ملحمة عائلية تتناول قصة كفاح وهجرة أسرة كورية من وطنها الأصلي إلى اليابان خلال القرن العشرين.
تروي الرواية قصة أربعة أجيال من هذه العائلة، بدءا من جدة بطلة الرواية سونجا التي وصلت إلى اليابان في بداية القرن العشرين، وصولاً إلى أحفادها في نهايته.

علي شريعتي، من أبرز المفكرين المسلمين في القرن العشرين. ولد في إيران، وتلقى تعليمه في بلده، وواصل دراساته العليا في فرنسا. يتميز شريعتي بحس ناقد للغاية وأسلوب موضوعي بما يتناسب مع ظروف زمانه. له مؤلفات عديدة ومن أشهرها هذا الكتاب ذو العنوان الملفت للانتباه. وهو كتاب صفحاته قليلة، ولكن مضمونه وفائدته كبيرة. يمكن اختصاره بالقول أن هناك فرق بين الإنسان المتعلم والإنسان المفكر. فبالإمكان أن يحصل الإنسان على العديد من الشهادات والألقاب العلمية، لكنه يفتقر للتفكير السليم والمنطق الحق. فلا تتناسب تصرفاته مع مستواه العلمي، بل ولا يميز الحق من الباطل. وقد تكسبه درجته العلمية شعور بالشبع العلمي، فيبقى يراوح مكانه أو يدعي المعرفة بتغطرس وتكبر. من وجهة نظر شريعتي، هناك نباهة على مستوى الفرد، ونباهة على مستوى المجتمع. تعمل النباهة كلقاح ومضاد حيوي ضد جرثومة الاستحمار. وهذا الاستحمار هو كل أمر يشغل الإنسان عن قضاياه الأساسية في الحياة. وضرب أمثلة ناقدة كثيرة على هذه الظاهرة الخطيرة سواء في الخطاب الديني او الإعلامي وكذلك على الصعيد السياسي والثقافي. فكل حشو تافه وجدال لا طائل منه وأمور تحرف الانتباه عن القضايا الهامة في الحياة هي بمثابة استحمار.

أول رواية كتبها هاروكي موراكامي قبل خمسة وأربعين عاما، إلى جانب عمله كصاحب مقهى جاز، كان هاروكي يخصص وقتا قصيرا من كل صباح لكتابة فقرات من الرواية. وشارك بهذه الرواية في مسابقة أدبية ولم يتوقع أن يفوز بالمركز الأول. الطريف أنه أرسل النسخة الأصلية الوحيدة للجنة المسابقة وكانت ستضيع في حال خسارته. الرواية جميلة وتحمل أفكارا كثيرة لا تزال واضحة في أعماله الحديثة. وهي الجزء الأول من سلسلة الفأر.

رواية في انتظار البرابرة للكاتب ماكسويل كويتزي من جنوب افريقيا الحائز على جائزة نوبل للأدب. يمكن اختصار الرواية في العبارة التالية العنصرية وباء الإنسانية. تدور أحداث الرواية في محمية يعيش فيها جماعة من المستعمرين محاطة بأسوار تحميهم من هجمات السكان الأصليين والذين يسمونهم البرابرة. وبطل القصة موظف مسؤول عن المحمية ويعيش حياة الدعة والرفاهية ورغم أنه مستعمر لكنه يمتاز بالإنسانية والرفق، ويشفق على أسيرة من البرابرة كانت شبه عمياء واقدامها مكسورة بسبب ما تعرضت له من عنف على يد جماعة من الجنود المستعمرين. فيستضيف الفتاة ويعالج جروحها ويقرر أرجاعها لأهلها وراء الجبال. وبعد رحلة شاقة ينجح المسؤول في إيصال الفتاة لأهلها ويتفاجيء عند عودته بأن الجنود يتهمونه بالخيانة والتواطؤ مع البرابرة. يتعرض لتعذيب شديد ويوشك أن يلقى حتفه بحبل المشنقة ولكنهم يتركونه في آخر لحظة ليكون عبرة فيتحول إلى شخص منبوذ يتسول فضلات الطعام ويرتدي الأسمال القذرة. وتدور الأيام ويعود الجنود مخذولين من حربهم ضد البرابرة فيأخذون كل الطعام من المحمية ويهربون تاركين الأهالي بانتظار البرابرة. رواية مؤثرة جدا وبها رمزية عن حكم بريتوريا الفصل العنصري ضد السود في جنوب أفريقيا.

رواية (نهر الظلام) من أشهر مؤلفات البولندي البريطاني جوزيف كونارد. يحكي فيها قصة بحار يعمل في مستعمرات الكونغو، يصف فيها مذكراته حول ما شاهده من ظلم وقسوة واضطهاد مارسها المستعمرون الأوروبيون تجاه السكان الأفارقة الأصليين. كما يصف شعوره بالخوف والوحدة والغربة وسط الغابات الموحشة والأنهار الخطيرة. يوجه كونارد في هذه الرواية نقدا شديدا تجاه سياسة الاستعمار عديمة الإنسانية وكذلك يكشف مدى جشع الإنسان تجاه المال والسلطة ووصمها بمسميات جذابة كالحضارة والتطور.

بعد إتمام قراءة رواية (قطار الليل إلى لشبونة) شعرت بالحنين لشخصياتها: استاذ اللغات جريجوريوس الذي ترك عمله في سويسرا باحثا عن تفاصيل قصة قديمة لطبيب برتغالي يدعى أماديو برادو، وصديقه الحميم جورج، وتغير علاقة المودة بين الصديقين بسبب الخيانة ودخول الفتاة ستيفانيا في حياتهما. تنتقل أحداث الرواية بين زمنين، سبعينيات القرن الماضي حيث يشترك أبطال الرواية أماديو وجورج وستيفانيا في العمل السري ومقاومة الديكتاتورية في البرتغال، وبداية القرن الحالي حيث يحاول البروفيسور السويسري غريغوريس نسج خيوط قصة غامضة كانت بدايتها حصوله بالصدفة على كتاب قديم مؤلفه الطبيب البرتغالي أماديو. وهكذا قرر غريغوريس أن يضفي شيئا من الحيوية والإثارة على حياته وترك كل شيء وراءه ليسافر إلى لشبونه، ويلتقي بمن بقي على قيد الحياة من أبطال الرواية ليعرف سر وفاة أماديو، وانتحار والده، وسبب الخلاف بينه وبين صديق عمره، وماذا حل بالفتاة التي أحبها وكانت مستودع أسراره. رواية شيقة مفعمة بالفلسفة والمشاعر الإنسانية أنصح بقراءتها ومشاهدة الفيلم الذي بني على أحداثها.

I enjoyed reading Sinan Antoon's novel, Wahdaha Shajarat al-Rumman (Only the Pomegranate Tree), in Arabic a few years ago. Recently, I experienced the story again through the English translation and audiobook, and it was an excellent way to revisit this powerful novel. Antoon's evocative descriptions of Baghdad and his exploration of the impact of war on individuals make this a must-read for anyone interested in contemporary Iraqi literature.
