Wow.. ik weet gewoon ff niet wat ik moet zeggen over dit boek. Wat inventief, wat beestachtig provocerend, wat... thafuck.. Er staan een aantal schoonheids (vertaal?) foutjes in, maar het boek leest er niet minder door weg. Ik moet dit echt even laten bezinken..

Ondertussen heb ik er een nachtje over kunnen slapen, en ik ben er dus nog steeds niet over uit. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat het een lange tijd geleden is dat ik zo'n onrustige nacht heb gehad. Schitterend lichaam heeft me zeker bezig gehouden. Ik heb een beetje ruzie met mezelf. Want waarom vind ik de gebeurtenissen en handelingen zo choquerend, alleen omdat het nu over mensen gaat? Waarom voel ik niet hetzelfde terwijl het zo overduidelijk is dat dieren in ons leven hetzelfde lot tegemoet gaan?

Deze dystopie toont een pikzwart hoofdstuk in de whatif. Dat is natuurlijk de bedoeling, maar Bazterrica gaat meerdere keren de grens over. Haar grafische schrijfstijl zorgt voor een onuitwisbare afdruk dat maar moeilijk loslaat. De keuze om een relatief saai hoofdpersonage zijn wandeling over de bladzijden te laten lopen is een goede keuze omdat het rust tussen de gruwelijke passages geeft. Het begon erg interessant en ik had écht zin in dit luisterboek: leuke en gepassioneerde voorleesstemmen en een duister stukje mysterie (vandaar 2 en niet slechts 1 ster). Ik weet niet of het komt doordat ik dus geluisterd heb en wellicht ook wat dingen gemist, maar ik mis soms echt gewoon een plot. Plat neuken kan iedereen *vraagtekensmiley*. Ok.. met dank aan mijn nichtje is deze niet-Yarrros-fan toch maar aan de hype begonnen� en� ik geloof de hype :-). In 3 avondjes uit (ok en een hele korte nacht slaap ;-) ), dus dat zegt ook wel wat.

Toch maar eens aan het debuut van Eddie Flynn gewaagd. Alle boeken uit decreeks gelezen, behalve de eerste drie haha. Moet zeggen dat de latere boeken beter zijn, en ook een stuk geloofwaardiger. Dit plot was onzettend vergezocht. Wel leuk om nu de achtergrondinformatie over Eddie te lezen die me tot nu toe nooit duidelijk is geworden in de vervolgdelen.

Het verhaal krijgt 1 ster omdat op z'n minst 80% herhaling is van de eerste vier boeken.. Maar dan is het eind toch wel weer zo leuk dat ik toch nieuwsgierig ben naar het vervolg... Dat laatste hoofdstuk heeft de tweede ster erbij gekregen.
