And Hannah...well she deserves the world for her steadfast perseverance, her unwavering love and her big brass balls, really, to choose to stay with her sadist/warped boyfriend. Boy, it's the first time I've read about needle "play" in erotic romance, I googled "bigger gauged needles" and the models were human sized pin-cushions. The kink in this book simply steps up so if you enjoy racier, edgier stuff, this book is flaming inferno hot. I loved all the fucked up kink in this book, the authors had their fun wrting this, the dark eroticism of the sex scenes pucks a punch. No boddice ripper here, just ripper. **snigger**

So it was a little disconcerting to read the MCs in their early 40s talking about like if they were being ravaged by age...

Anyway, it's really refreshing to read about someone who's had a lot of experience, won't take shit anymore because of it and knows what she wants. I am really fed up of reading about young women who act like brats or are incredible kicking ass, had my fill of those.
So I love Jacinta Evans as heroine, she's got the right balance of self-assurance and insecurity; because of her failures, the ability to have empathy and be compassionate, she is open to embrace the differences in others. Jessie can bring together people, it's what she does.

In this first book we have an introduction of the main ensemble of characters, such an absurd crew is hard to believe. I have such a blast every time I read their ramblings and their banter, that I've already read the series like 3 times.

Leveling Up is not just about magic, the relationships developing along the series are the magic. It's chaos, the coming together of completely opposite and sometimes damaged people. but precisely that is what works for me: how working with others, acceptance, understanding can make a world of difference. That and the humor, KF Breene has a ton of sense of humor to offer, what a mind.

The romance is there, just potentially so (slow-snail-paced-burn). The MMC is an alpha type with a lot of baggage. Caring, protective but brutal when needed. He's a listener too. I enjoyed how the relationship between both MMCs grows and develops, both learning from each other.

You won't get bored reading this book, the pace is balanced, you have bizarre characters and situations, magic with mysteries involved, unexpected jokes...of all the series I have read within the paranormal women's fiction genre this is my absolute favorite, so I wanted to recommend this to the readers who're looking for something else to read.

Selma is a young woman who has endured her whole life visions of monsters that only she could see and therefore she's been believed to be insane and institutionalized. She'll then discover that those monsters are demons and that she's a very special kind of woman for those beings.

It was the first book I read written by Nora Ash and the theme was what hooked me, demons are rarely chosen as main characters in books and I find them fascinating since they represent the embodiment of darkness and magic. The original version of the book was more hardcore, this one is not so much but still steamy enough, even with some non-con/dub-con elements. The two versions are similar with just some modifications that make it a very enthralling read.

Nora Ash is a superb story-teller, I know her books are going to be always entertaining and original. Her sex scenes are always incredibly erotic, imaginative, never dull.

Another positive thing about Nora's books, IMO, are the main characters; the story is never spoiled by bratty or insufferable behaviors and the protagonists are usually strong and interesting people.

So, if you enjoy paranormal stuff, sexy demons and a good plot, then read Branded (you will want to read the complete series, believe me). Be warned, this is not a sweet romance and the book ends in a cliff-hanger.

This is a revised version of a story also titled Branded, which I have read several times.

Selma is a young woman who has endured her whole life visions of monsters that only she could see and therefore she's been believed to be insane and institutionalized. She'll then discover that those monsters are demons and that she's a very special kind of woman for those beings.

It was the first book I read written by Nora Ash and the theme was what hooked me, demons are rarely chosen as main characters in books and I find them fascinating since they represent the embodiment of darkness and magic. The original version of the book was more hardcore, this one is not so much but still steamy enough, even with some non-con/dub-con elements. The two versions are similar with just some modifications that make it a very enthralling read.

Nora Ash is a superb story-teller, I know her books are going to be always entertaining and original. Her sex scenes are always incredibly erotic, imaginative, never dull.

Another positive thing about Nora's books, IMO, are the main characters; the story is never spoiled by bratty or insufferable behaviors and the protagonists are usually strong and interesting people.

So, if you enjoy paranormal stuff, sexy demons and a good plot, then read Branded (you will want to read the complete series, believe me). Be warned, this is not a sweet romance and the book ends in a cliff-hanger.

When I read the sample it was like my dream world: human woman abducted by aliens and taken to a huge City-ship inhabited by thousands of alien races, in other words, my perfect science fiction story. The first chapters were engrossing and I was ecstatic...But the more I read, the less enthusiastic I was: there are too long descriptions of unimportant things (instead of describing in more depth the alien races in the City, for example), the heroine becomes suddenly Superwoman because she can achieve anything imaginable (she becomes a healer tech, a pilot, she masters 0 gravity simulations, etc).

Then we have the Protectorit, the male main character, whose face is not revealed to the heroine because in his culture warriors hide their faces from strangers with a veil. Their relationship is rocky at best, and this is supposed to be a romance, but nothing romantic happened, nada de nada, zilch! No romance, no hint of passion...in fact, the heroine started to really annoy me because she, an allegedly intelligent woman, started behaving like an irrational moron, all impulses and no brains. Actually, both MC acted a little bit retarded.

The good in this book: the universe the author creates is wonderful, a multicultural melting pot full of technological advances...so cool! Also there's intrigue, corruption, conspiracies that are slowly developing, but we have to continue the series to know more about that. There are good secondary characters who help the h adapt to this new world, and through them we get to learn the Protocols that rule this civilization.

So, this is not a standalone book, we have to read the rest of the series to learn the rest of the story. I read in another review that there's no romance in the second book, either, and to me that's a key ingredient, like the spice in a recipe.

There is a constant in Ms Silverwood's main characters that I love (the books I've read so far) and it is the sadistic-masochistic dynamic that adds a touch of darkness that enhances the eroticism in their scenes together. It is so freaking hot!

It is difficult to summarize the complexity of this universe because there are too many elements involved in the story. What absolutely enthralled me was the seamless blend of science fiction and fantasy, steampunk and the Gorean World of John Norman, it made me get soo deep into a trance-like state that I had to pace myself because I didn't want to finish the book, I wanted it to simply go on forever.

In Acquired Possession we are left with many unknown elements: is Aerthe a living entity? Is there magic involved in this world? Did the Mekkers come from a different world? If so, what's their origin? I can't wait to find out.
