I want to listen to music, but I'm in a small hotel room with three relatives (we're on vacation). How do I ensure that they don't judge me?

Guys! I published my poetry book! I don't want to link to it here, because that would be shameless self-promotion, but you can find it on my profile. :D

Hey y'all! Let's try to keep the random chat like personality types and nicknames, in the random chat channel (this channel). :) That way it's easier for everybody to keep track of things!

message 13: by Kendra (last edited Jun 24, 2017 07:12AM) (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 36 comments ENTP and INFJ are actually a compatible pairing - ie, most they're supposedly the best pairing for each other. I do know for certain that INFJ's are supposed to be the most extroverted of introverts (and having an INFJ sister, I can confirm that). Also, my cousin who I suspect to be an ENTP is rather shy.

Their functions are as follows:

ENTP:
Extroverted Intuition
Introverted Thinking
Extroverted Feeling
Introverted Sensing

INFJ:
Introverted Intuition
Extroverted Feeling
Introverted Thinking
Extroverted Sensing.

As you can see, the two have the same middle functions - their decisions functions, incidentally, - just in the opposite order. They both make decisions based on internal thought and external emotion. An INFJ is more comfortable with the external emotion, while an ENTP will usually go with their impulsive internal thought. It is usually in stressful situations that they fall back on their third function.

However, the big difference that I would focus on would be the first function. Introverted vs. Extroverted Intuition. Their lead perception processes. I did quite a bit of study on the difference between the two last year, as I was writing an INTJ character.

However, I still don't feel quite qualified to explain the difference, so I'm going to point you to this well-written article and you can come back and ask me questions. How does that sound?

message 14: by E.F. (new)

E.F. Buckles *is an INFJ* I don't know if I'd call myself "extroverted" but I have found I like people a lot.

message 15: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 36 comments I didn't say that you are extroverted, just that you have tendencies more typical of extroverts - it's your extroverted feeling second function. But acting extroverted takes a LOT of energy out of you.

I, on the other hand, am an ENFP, which is supposedly the most introverted of extroverts. I love people - I crave attention, but ... am also terribly shy. It's a problem.

message 16: by Elaina (new)

Elaina | 9 comments I am an INFJ and I feel really introverted at times lol especially compared to some of my friends xD I do like people and enjoy company, but I can feel so drained if I'm around big crowds or too many people at once...I think it's easier for me to talk just one-on-one :P Idk, I wish I wasn't so shy at times, but I can't seem to make myself not be lol

Okay okay, so I'm neither. LOL! I just found I had pasted the results from the 16 Personalities test I had taken awhile ago, and I was an ISFJ. Which, between an INFJ, an ENTP, and an ISFJ, ISFJ is the most accurate. So I'm gonna go with that one. ;) It defines me to a T: "Though sensitive, Defenders have excellent analytical abilities; though reserved, they have well-developed people skills and robust social relationships; and though they are generally a conservative type, Defenders are often receptive to change and new ideas."

Thanks Kendra! I now know me! LOL!

I feel drained after being around a lot of people too, which is why I don't think I'm an extrovert, but yet I am not super shy, and hide in a corner and never say a word, actually I tend to talk - A LOT! XD So, I am somewhere in between the two, which is where I think you are too. :)

message 19: by Kendra (new)

Kendra Ardnek | 36 comments Mm, well, actually, ISFJ actually still has the same two center decision functions. They just lead with Introverted Sensing. Which is actually my last function. So. Yeah.

ISFJ's are cool. Some of my favorite aunts are that.

message 20: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 18 comments Bekah's an ISFJ. Trying to wrap my brain around the whole cognitive functions thing doesn't work very well. But I identify with the descriptions of how INFJ brains work. It helps me understand me.

True, true. I love helping with first grade Sunday school, but I'm SO tired when I get home. And like Elaina, I do better with one-on-one conversation. When more people than that are talking, I tend to let them talk to each other while I quietly observe and struggle to be assertive enough to make any input whatsoever. :p

I'm an INFJ and my brother is an ENTP, and our brains are sort of like puzzle pieces--we just "fit" together and we're really, really good at stimulating each other's thought processes. It's quite fun.

Back to personalities, I am a proud ISFJ. :) Online tests are only accurate if you're a textbook type. Real people don't fit into concrete boxes. So it's better to have an ameteur expert who knows you help type you...like Kendra! ;)

message 49: by Emily (new)

Emily (sweetmrsemi) | 37 comments INFP, here! And for the most part, I am a terribly textbook INFP, right down to the propensity for mis-typing at the get-go. Also, I've been a teacher, run the school art club, and am now the librarian/media specialist, which are all so very typical of an INFP.

I would lean towards ENFP in that case, as ENFP's tend to be ambiverts, while INFP's usually know that they're are solidly introverted.
