It will take time and so many retellings to outdo this book! My poor heart can’t handle the pain and grief of the main character. No, it’s not the wife but Karna. The epitome of sacrifices. I will grieve for the character forever.

The writing is bewitching I would say! I just can’t put down a book ever from the author once I start reading them and this one is no different. This shook me the most. Now I am completely drained of my soul. I wish I could just let him understand that I understand his pain. ]]>

It’s terrifying how we are living this story at the moment.

Every single person needs to read this book. Will clearly show how we are being manipulated and how our privacy is being violated. How the so called government strip you away from being human and there’s nothing you can do about it.

It’s just not about the people and the government but also we as human are changing for the worse because of our lifestyle and lazy choices.

I find the writing really accessible and I do feel even teenagers will find this story fascinating/thought provoking.

Just grab this book if you haven’t already! ]]>

I find the writing very interesting with the plot focussing on the lives of the farmers and their livestock.

It's a very simple story with some elements of magical realism telling about the hardships an old couple had to face upbringing a tiny weak black unique kid called Poonachi.

This is the story of how Poonachi changed the lives of the old couple being the unbelievable miracle as she turned out to be.

The main highlights of the story include family bond, love and longing, how the simple village lives struggle through times of hardships and how the people bond with their livestock.

I loved the second half more. It's heartbreaking at times. At times, it's uncomfortable to read some particular parts dealing with some very realistic details. Otherwise it's a good read.

Perumal Murugan's books are always memorable even if they are not the best stories ever told. ]]>

*life goals: to be an Eleanor
*reality: being a Marianne

⬇️

*Classic example of men being gold diggers: John Willdoughy
Not all gold diggers are women

*Classic character reference of mean girls and vanity: Lucy Steele

*Most underrated character reference in history:
Colonel Brandon

*Most unsettling romance main man character of all times: Edward Ferrars

*Classic reference of being in a group project where your name is there but you are always absent to the point of being creepy: Margaret Dashwood

(The mere thought of Margeret being there not being there gave me chills throughout this read. Me and my character curiosity blown out of normalcy!)

Doesn't anyone else feel this way?

One of the most satisfactory endings of all times! I need to reread this one💘

*Even though everything else was perfectly written, I got tired of being with Marianne. I needed more of Edward and Eleanor. And more interaction between Brandon and Marianne.

*My most favourite chapter is of course without doubt Chapter 49 with the confession. It's so beautiful.
