A good start to the spin off of Meri’s Story

This is a spin off of the Killian blade and Arden’s story. This takes place with Meri, her friend who kinda betrays her but not really. Anyways Meri is Queen of the Light Fae now and has to fight for her crown. There’s several moving parts to this story and once it gets going it gets going. Originally at first it was a little tough to get through because Meri wasn’t doing much Queenly stuff imo. She was going on dates, which kind of bugged me. I was suspicious of who she was going out with from the jump, there was just something about him that raised the red flags. Meri, in her semi innocence dismissed a few of those flags. It all comes to a head at the end of the book though. So many moving parts. I still need to know who Madoc is to Meri, will he be part of her harem, or is he a relative of some sort? A Royal? I love that we have Solandis and Vargas in this book as well. Yep Vargas is alive! Which we knew at the end of Arden’s series. I can’t wait to see what happens and where the crown went. ]]>

The end to Arden’s story

It took a bit to get here, this book seemed relatively long and I didn’t know this was the last book for Arden’s story, but I suspect there are some characters that are still around to follow and I look forward to their spin off and see how it goes.

The Primary reveal was a bit hard for me to decipher I couldn’t figure out how they came to such a conclusion. Perhaps I read that part too quickly but I just didn’t feel like I was given the connection, I wasn’t explained well. Overall I did enjoy the book, though I was annoyed with Fallon leaving and missing for a majority of the book. I love that Arden when he came back gave him a piece of her mind and didn’t tip toe around him or her feelings. I did enjoy this story and I plan to continue to see whose story is next. Is it Meri’s? ]]>

Not bad but mega telling

While I enjoyed this book there’s a ton more telling. I also find myself still perplexed how we got Arden and the guys interested in each other as there wasn’t a ton of tension and now they are all basically making declarations I still feel like we missed a key component to them forming relationships or the discussion about them all dating her.

We continue on the journey for Arden’s destiny. We learn slightly more but again most of it is told or done off page, which is annoying but the relationships are forming well.

Overall I’m intrigued with where this is going but also slightly bored and wandering while reading bc of how much is off page or glossed over by telling us instead of dialoguing it out. ]]>

Reread October 10th 2021.

Alright I was still slightly confused when I reread this one as I couldn’t quite remember what happened and based on my review I didn’t add a lot of details. Luckily enough I took notes this time because I truly felt like there was a huge giant cast and trying to keep track of everyone was confusing. So I’ll explain everyone mostly and my thoughts overall.

Characters
[spoilers removed]

I do feel like we skipped some important parts in the plot/story. Like her getting to know the guys and slowly forming bonds and relationships. It’s definitely not a slow burn, but also I dislike that some of these events take place off page. A great example around after the harem starts getting together at the 73% mark Arden has a night with Astor and rather than be there with them, experience their intense connection, conversation and intimacy we are missing it all and reminiscing the very next morning. It really sounded like this particular moment brought them together or settled Arden more and because of that I would have liked to see it played out further on page. To see how they are connecting. I see some connections but not to the level at which Arden is though. So I wish that was a bit more clear.

Overall I did enjoy the reread, I did remember some things and somethings I did not. So it was a great time overall.

Great start to a new series!

Great start to a new series! Not too bad, not a whole host of information drop either. I was able to be lead to the facts, the interesting thing is how old Arden is bc she doesn’t feel as old as she is. I like her though, and I enjoy what’s happening in this book. Arden asks Theron to protect her, it’s an interesting world they live in. She’s got assassins after her, hence the protection. But there’s more, she’s uber powerful, but she’s hiding it. She doesn’t know all her ancestry and hasn’t grown with witches which makes the whole story more fascinating bc she has to deal with the prejudice that witches get, and seemingly rightly deserve. I can’t wait to see how this goes and what that random vision will be.

Also I feel like Meri may end up being a issue later? Maybe? ]]>

Great start to a new series

Asher has done it again, sucking me in deep and getting me hooked right in. I love Ever and I like how simultaneously she’s both strong and not weak but soft. I love how she longs for love, and I hate how Aeson is suspicious of her. The whole entire plot has so many twists and turns. They think she betrayed them, but really if they had just communicated and Aeson had told her why things were the way they were she might’ve let them in.

There’s a whole cast of characters I’ve yet to recall all their names. We have Aeson’s Wing, we have Ever’s family, we have different people being looked for etc. so I couldn’t tell you everything just yet. I will say the new guards for Ever’s Wing only showed up very briefly and didn’t even guard her at The Naming. I found it quite odd it was this big deal and then they all seemed forgotten. We didn’t see them again. I also suspect there’s lots of characters off the board so to speak that we haven’t met and don’t know about. I can not wait to see what happens in the coming books. I do wish we had more of Aeson’s pov vs the ending there. I really want to know what’s going on in his head and be privy to things Ever is unaware of.

I also wonder where Ever is going. ]]>

This one took me a while to get through

I truly felt like the premise of this book was dumb. Clementine showing up and trying to steal the throne was just boring. She was a character who suddenly appeared and now we had to rush off and deal with her. I wanted to see Adrianna build up the kingdom, instead she wasn’t doing what I expected which was going after Clementine. They couldn’t even find her to begin with and Adrianna and her forces retreated for a time, which made sense but was still odd given that Clementine could have shown up at any time, like she did at the end of the book. I was bored of all the cat and mouse games between them. I was disappointed in the other origins and how they chose to help or not help. Honestly I expected a bit more depth. Because of that it took me forever to slog through this one. It’s not to say it’s bad, it’s just not to my taste with the premise being Clementine. There’s so many questions that still are unanswered as well. What happened to their mom, is that why she went to the wolves? Was Clementine responsible in some way for her demise even though we saw it happen? It sounds like we learned Clementine was masquerading as their mom. So if that’s that case how did it happen? We didn’t get much in the way of those answers.

The guys are still amazing though Cassian has to go be the alpha of the pack leaving him to leave behind Adrianna and her harem. I was annoyed by this separation and it annoyed me it took so long to address.

Overall it wasn’t bad but it was just ok for me. ]]>
