I listened to this as an audiobook. I'm not sure how much that influenced my take on the story, but I was extremely irritated by all the French that was read and not translated. I don't know a word of French, so I was lost in many conversations. That was a problem, and I also think Brontë really should have had an editor cut at least a quarter of the words. I was bored.... I couldn't relate to the character. This is an excellent book, well written and challenging, even for someone who was not aware of having much fear and anxiety. I love that she incorporates so much insight from other great authors, along with the Bible's teachings and her own very real and honest story. ]]>
