"While I saw some of the twists from a mile away, Freida still managed to get me with a few more. Her stories are always digestible, even if they beggar belief at times.

The Tenant did focus on something that has always been a fear of mine: living with strangers. I’ve had to do it before, and it was great� until it wasn’t, and then became a nightmare. This story definitely brought back some of those memories and anxieties, so was deeply disturbing content for me to ingest.

Overall, not Freida’s most complex work, but definitely will keep you hooked."

"A story of two brothers facing the darkness that’s been chasing them throughout their lives.

Some parts were totally wild, like the surprise in the barn loft, what the Hollow Souls do to their victims, and what happened to Bo. Other times I did wish the story had more movement in the plot setting. The boys are on the farm for a large chunk of time in the story, and I was getting antsy hoping they’d go on the offence.

I can’t say this is my favourite Durgin book, but it’s definitely well crafted like all his stories. It’s one to check out, but just be aware it’s more of a slow burn (in my opinion)."
