This was seriously sweet and full of warmth! It brought back memories of when I was little. Just like Alex, I used to worry about being away from my mom and missed her a lot whenever I had to go to school. The hand over the heart gesture really stood out to me. It’s such a simple but meaningful way to stay connected, and honestly, it carries a message that sticks with you. Plus, the artwork is absolutely lovely. I love how soft and warm it feels. It matches the mood of the story so well and adds to the overall charm. Definitely something worth picking up, especially if you’re into stories that gently tug at your emotions. ]]>

This book was honestly a blast to read. I couldn’t stop once I started. The suspense had me hooked, and the supernatural twist added a really cool layer to the whole thing. The plot was gripping right from the prologue, and it just kept building. The writing style made everything flow so well, and the pacing felt just right. It was fast enough to keep me hooked but not overwhelming.

One thing I loved the most was the way high school life and friendship drama were portrayed. It felt super real, and I appreciated how all the characters had that morally gray edge. They kept hiding things from each other, which was frustrating, but in a way that actually made the story even more compelling. One detail that stood out was the use of the term “thrashed. It hit hard, especially for Jodi’s character, and felt surprisingly relatable. I feel like so many people can relate to that fear of being “thrashed.

Also, the subtle romance between Jodi and Julian was a nice touch. It didn’t overpower the main story but added just enough emotional depth. I genuinely hope there’s a sequel because that ending left me wanting more. If you’re into fast-paced reads with mystery, supernatural elements, and complex characters, this one’s totally worth checking out. ]]>

Vanya and the Wild Hunt by Sangu Mandanna
"This was cute, if a bit boring at times. I felt it hard to connect emotionally to the story, like I was listening to someone tell me about the events happening rather than feeling the characters experience them but I'll admit that could just be a me thing.

Loved the world-building and the rep. It really was done well.

I'd recommend this to my younger siblings and people that really love MG, but maybe not to a kid that's struggling to get into reading."

This story feels so warm and comforting! Experiencing colorism has been a recurring challenge for me, even to this day, so seeing this issue portrayed in such a thoughtful way really resonated with me. This book does a great job of conveying the importance of self-love and confidence in a way that feels genuine and impactful. Plus, the illustrations are absolutely stunning! The vibrant colors and adorable font add so much charm. I also appreciate the extra section on sun safety, which is a great touch for kids. This is definitely a book worth picking up! ]]>
