This is why you don't let Mennonites try (and fail, miserably) to be artists. You'd think everyone would be on the same page there. ]]>

Ummm... ok. We're first introduced to Mary Knight's extreme abuse with an essay literally written to capitalize off of Black Lives Matter. Gross. We learn how to film a movie on a budget (get your husband to give you $50k and laugh about not paying anyone, and underpaying the ones you do -- literally). We learn that you can remind your soul that it's important by throwing recycling in the trash intentionally. I know some recycling programs are scammy, but that's not what's being explored and it's very weird. As far as I can tell, Mary Knight never went back to doing play therapy, so that was a lie. I also don't buy her recovered memories. I don't think all recovered memories are fake, but most aren't revealed with a profit motive. Also, I hate recovery stories where a person heals by getting a rich husband. This trope was really common in books about recovering from borderline personality disorder. I don't think Mary Knight has BPD, by any means. I think she's somewhere else in Cluster B that is probably less treatable. This book is an insult to survivors, but may be worth pirating and skipping to the recovery section if a list of resources for people who have survived incest or trafficking would be of use to you. Just be careful, there are snakes like Mary in all of these communities and they are highly manipulative, take what you need and leave the rest. ]]>
