Count Zero by William Gibson
"William Gibson follows up his genre-defining masterpiece, Neuromancer, with a work that adopts a quite different approach. This time around, we follow three characters with loosely interwoven plotlines, and all roads seemingly lead to the expansive urban environment of the Sprawl.

Bobby is an aspiring hacker going by the handle 'Count Zero', touched by a mysterious presence within the matrix on a job gone wrong. Marly is a disgraced art dealer hired by an extremely wealthy, imposing benefactor, and Turner is a mercenary carrying out dangerous corporate espionage jobs. All of these threads are interesting in their own ways, with some fascinating characters and concepts woven into the mix , but what makes this so great is Gibson's writing itself.

This book is arguably more accessible than its predecessor and that is largely because it spends more time setting up events, character and locations which is quite a contrast to Neuromancer. Due to this, many readers will have an issue with its pacing. It didn't bother me too much because William Gibson's prose is just so unbelievably potent. He walks a really fine tightrope by using such distinct similes and metaphors, done so well that it never tips over into feeling overdrawn. "
