The way Emilia Hart reimagines classic mermaids is unique but it still awoke my childhood love of swimming and the familiar desire to swim in the depths with schools of beautiful fish. Hart skillfully weaves together historical fiction with mythology and mystery in a way that explores bonds between women without sacrificing the plot.
