What made you want to add a gay character into the Percy Jackson series? What inspired you to write the series?

when i was 11, i thought marie lu was a genius. at 22 I feel like I can still say the same.

i sped through legend, prodigy and champion in the span of three days so i'm going to judge the series as a whole - not individually.
- the exaggerated version of capitalisic america still holds up today
- i still admire how kaede was killed off so suddenly
- the relationship between mehtias and thomas holds up
- june is absolutely not the average female YA main character. lu was ahead of the game with writing her protagnists. she made june cunning but not evil, and day sweet but not sickening.
- very cliche at times, but a lot of it honestly holds up well. i did laugh a little at how "the streets" of lake were mentioned
- 15 is stupidly young. 17 turning 18 could've been a bit better, but i understand their young age makes up part of the narrative - especially with how they behave and act
- june and anden's age gap is never mentioned. ever. 5 years? 6? 15 and 20 is diabolical. june is absolutely not mentally mature enough to be in a relationship like that
- on that note, i did like how they only dated for about a year after she turned 21
- lots of REALISTIC racial diversity
- love how it was a 10 year gap and not a measly 3-5 year one. it felt a lot more real, and a perfect way to end the series
