Maine Characters is the story of two half sisters, Vivian and Lucy, who after the death of their shared father meet for the first time accidentally at his cabin in Maine. Having grown up in very different worlds, Lucy seemingly hidden away in small town Maine with her single mom, and Vivian living in New York with her mother and father, the meeting of these two women is less than perfect. While I didn't particularly enjoy either character initially, I'm glad that I kept going with this book because I did enjoy watching each character evolve. As Lucy and Vivian navigate a summer together at this shared cabin with their own memories of the father they each separately knew, they learn to unpack some of their own personal baggage and by the end of this book I was really invested in their futures. The beautiful cover might have been my initial draw to this story, but I really did enjoy it in the end. The Maid's Secret may just be my favorite in this series! While Molly the Maid is preparing for her upcoming wedding, the Regency Grand Hotel is preparing for an upcoming taping of Hidden Treasures, a popular antiquities show. When employees are given the chance to have some of their personal items appraised, Molly's world turns upside down as she is made aware of the value of a collectable she possesses. Filled with mystery, surprises and many twists and turns, The Maid's Secret also takes us back in time as Gran's diary is revealed to Molly and we learn even more about her past. I've always loved the connection Molly and her Gran share, and I especially enjoyed learning more about her past in this book. I would highly recommend this book, and the entire Molly the Maid series. The Float Test is a complicated family saga of 4 adult siblings in the Kenner family, in the aftermath of the death of their mother. Filled with messy family dynamics, long standing grudges and hurt feelings, and an underlying current of family loyalty, fans of family dramas may enjoy this story.
