The Single Issue by Albert Y. Hsu
"A very encouraging outlook on the single life. Would recommend to any single Pringles regardless of whether they’re ready to mingle. "

Short, snappy and very helpful little devotional. I find David Cook's writing style very clear and he focuses helpfully on what the specific passage is really teaching that is important. I think possibly this takes harsh reviews because he is unapologetically focussed on the real meaning of acts and doesn't focus on overspiritualising certain passages ]]>

Pretty helpful. The first section is great and looks at the practical way we should approach prayer in our hearts. Then he kind of just tells stories about his children, which is nice and I get he's trying to show he has prayer down. But that doesn't come across amazing tbh ]]>

Paton Jamie gave 5 stars to John G. Paton: Missionary to the New Hebrides (Historymakers) (abridged) by John G. Paton
There only exists one must-read. However, this book is absolute class and I would recommend everyone to read it.
Paton's stories of both God's protection and provision are astounding and the love and commitment of Himself and the other missionaries to the native cannibal savages and to the gospel surpasses belief. A true challenge to Western Christians.
The olde English is very manageable and Paton's writing style... Many a tear was shed reading of God's amazing transformation of savages' hearts and lives. Wow! ]]>

A real finger on the pulse of key issues that can face many Christians, with clear expounding of important theological truths whilst encouraging us not to push things too far. It reads kind of like a correction to false ideas to the main focus of truly knowing God ourselves and that has it's style, but I don't think that detracts from it's quality. ]]>

It is a well written and mostly entertaining book with really helpful commentary on wealth and maturity, but a whole lot of nothing happens most of the time... ]]>
