The Maid by Nita Prose is a charming and heartwarming mystery novel about a young woman named Molly Gray who works as a maid at a five-star hotel. Molly is neurodivergent, and she has difficulty understanding social cues. But she finds solace and comfort in her work, and she is fiercely proud of her ability to create a perfect and orderly space for her guests. Her world takes a dark turn when she stumbles upon the lifeless body of a wealthy guest in his suite. Suddenly, Molly is thrust into the midst of a murder investigation, finding herself at the epicenter of suspicion. With the help of newly found friends, Molly uses her unique skills and perspective to solve the mystery and clear her name.

Molly is a complex and well-developed character. Her actions are both endearing and frustrating, and her struggles with neurodivergence are portrayed realistically and compassionately. Molly is a strong and independent woman who is determined to solve the mystery and clear her name. She is not perfect, but she is always trying to do the right thing. The supporting characters are also well-drawn and believable. The twist at the end of the novel is unexpected and satisfying.
