I LOVE mangoes and enjoyed this intergenerational story celebrating the King of Fruits! I grew up eating mangoes with my family in my Caribbean island home, so this sweet story, depicting a close-knit family, brought back many wonderful memories. The beautiful illustrations capture the sheer joy and love one family shares. There's also an Author's Note that includes fascinating details about the importance of mangoes in India.

The novel captures the social angst (and drama) of middle school with an authentic and relatable voice, adding a layer of academics and sports to give the characters greater depth. As a Miamian, I loved all the local references, including a nod to our favorite bookstore, Books & Books. As a Latina, I loved the rich representation of Columbian and Latine cultures.
