Craig JS has read House of Roots and Ruin (Sisters of the Salt, #2) by Erin A. Craig
bookshelves: fairy-tales, fantasy, horror, rrc2023, ya
I have mixed feelings, which is why I'm not rating it. On the one hand: Craig is awesome at atmosphere and creating a very gothic horror vibe in her writing. Really good. Love the style. On the other hand: I don't love some of the content, and I have a LOT of feelings about the climax and ending. Like... a lot. ]]>

bookshelves: romance, rrc2023
The caveat: Not a sweet romance (actually, now that I think about it, I legitimately can't remember if there's sex on the page; but there's definitely discussion and a couple living together, etc.), and a fair amount of swearing. So not one I'd recommend to my clean-reading friends. It's also only barely a romance, much more of a women's fiction.

That said, I thought it was fun and funny. The main character is completely ridiculous in her efforts to change her life through the crossword. It just made me laugh. The situations are ridiculous, but charmingly so. I guess what I'm saying is don't expect anything realistic and just enjoy the goofiness. Which is really all I personally want from a rom com, so that worked for me.
