This book is so� empty? Nothing of substance really happens, it’s 300 pages of Gwendy worrying about stuff. I love this series so much, I actually miss Strike and Robin between books like they’re old friends. This one was as good a mystery as the others, highly entertaining and clever. But holy crap, can JK please stop trying to force her “I’m a good person� speech down our throats?

She managed to use the plot to cover every kind of inclusivity she could think of. There are incels, there’s a neonazi group, there’s ableism, there are people being attack for being so-called SJW’s� as if any of that would make us forget her beliefs. Someone please stop it, or the next book will feature a sentient rainbow flag that’s somehow still transphobic. ]]>
