“You deserve a rollercoaster” 😭
I don’t even know where to begin on how much I loved this book and how much it emotionally destroyed me with how both haunting yet beautiful the writing was. I’d book a one way flight to piper island and never look back it was that incredible!!
This book tackles a lot from grief, to friendships and love to also family trauma and the dominio affect it can have from a young age. I feel like I lived and breathed Quinn’s life throughout the novel , and watched her grow in each summer as well as deal with so much. Taylor’s ability to make every word feel effortlessly beautiful had my jaw on the floor I could not stop highlighting every chapter . This would make such a great coming of age movie or tv show and I stand by that notion .
Overall if you want something that’ll be perfect for the summer and make you feel like you’re at the beach , but also something that’ll hit you straight in the feels and bring out raw emotion in you. The summers of us is a book I’ll remember for a very long time and one I’d love to read-read
Some favourite lines-
“The thought of being noticed made me want to grow and shrink at the same time . To be noticed was to matter
“Family comes and goes, by friends always stay
“You are my rollercoaster, and somehow also my moon. Two things that are constant but never stay the same
“If just blue were as beautiful as him, then I hoped for a lifetime of just blues”

Thank you victory editing and net galley for the e-arc !! ]]>

I really wanted to like this especially with how much I love the cover but I just don’t think this was for me!! Even though there was a lot of emotional elements with both characters with grief and other aspects, both our characters fell flat for me and I struggled to connect with both hunter and Caroline through their struggles . Caroline I was struggling with her constant flip-flop between I’m doing this and then oh wait I’m still married, it just felt repetitive with how often it would happen . I also think the kindle formatting of this arc really put a damper on the reading experience with how I constantly would end up skipping lines and having to backtrack because of the layout ! And the use of medical terms during the spicer scenes really takes you out the moment like yes Caroline is in the research practitioner field so terms like that would fit her character but in the spicy scenes ?? I also just felt like the plot in general wasn’t really going anywhere and could have been cut down massively . I did like some elements with the small town vibes and some of the trips they went on together but I just think this one wasn’t for me !

Thank you to Avon books uk and netgalley for the e-arc of this book ]]>

I literally read this in one sitting I could not put it down at all! I loved how unique the magic system was as well as the overall world M.L Wanganages to create. Our fmc sciona was powerful and defiant, she proved that no one and nothing can stop her in being successful. At points I did find her and thomills connection not as fully fleshed out as I would have liked ! And I wish we did have more scenes of them both together , and I did like how thomill accepted her abillity to change and grow as a person from her original ideals that were rooted in her self from her beliefs I also did feel like the ending I wanted more than what we got and it wasn’t as satisfying as I hoped it would be . But other than that I would highly recommend this one ! And I definetly want to read sword of kaigen at somepoint soon . ]]>

If I’m being honest I really struggled with this book , considering how long it took me to actually finish it . I am glad I chose the audiobook because if I read this physically I don’t think I would have picked it up after putting it down for the first time.
As a whole i found both the main and female main characters insufferable , the chemistry or enemies to lovers type of slow burn connection I just couldn’t grasp. The actual plot didn’t really feel like it went anywhere after the first 20 percent . And I’m honestly dissapointed that I really didn’t enjoy this like I thought I would . I also did originally think it was marketed as more ya which the writing did feel like it was until the spice scene that caught me absolutely off guard at the end and it just felt odd in comparison to the ya writing . And the ending didn’t really feel that shocking to me I was just like that’s it ??? I will still probably read book 2 to see if it improves since I already own it but i feel like I am probably going to feel the same in book 2 ]]>
