" "It’s like he can see all of me. As if the memory of how he found me doesn’t skew his judgment at all."

Kai is 22. He’s 56 and loves dying his blonde hair blue. An artist and a diligent worker at the Rainbowology Cafe, Kai has a funky and androgynous sense of style. He is the opposite of a closeted gay man.

Aunt Julia passes away, and she leaves Kai her large house. Jake is the homeless squatter that Kai discovers in his new home.

Good humor. Hilarious dynamic between the two. Devon Doe finds a way to make these super-odd couples just…gel. They work.

Easy conversation and bonding over home restoration, DIY projects, and cool events. The Gay Camping Festival is probably the best. 😂

Levi gives some sage advice, and he’s a surprisingly good listener. Looking forward to his book.

Definitely slow burn. Good build of sexual tension. The awakening could happen…earlier. Nevertheless, the action and intimacy continue to be a strength for this author. Reveals and vulnerability from both guys.

Explores the all-to-real concerns of a gay man dating a bi man. This is so rarely addressed; most other writers just gloss over the Real Topics.

Ultimately, not a fan of Jake declaring multiple times that he prefers women to men. Feels...unsavory.

Fitting conclusion.

“Because you are everything I didn’t know I needed, and I don’t want to pretend anymore. "

"emotional funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted reflective medium-paced
Plot- or character-driven? Character
Strong character development? Yes
Loveable characters? Yes
Diverse cast of characters? Yes
5.0

Oh, my heart!

This was such a super cute and wholesome love story!
I'm all in when it comes to self discovery, an absolute sunshine Twinkie (Kai, I'm talking about Kai), a big Bear (not the animal!) and some fake-boyfriend/only one bed scenario that gives me all the cuddles (YES PLEASE!)

Jake and Kai were both admirable!
No matter what life threw at them, both came out as such strong characters!

Even if there were some tough topics discussed, like struggling with homelessness, homophobic family (and emotional abuse), past toxic relationships, and how a sudden disability can change your life (and exclude you from society) the whole story was uplifting, hopeful, emotional, wholesome and gave me a lighthearted feeling!

I really loved the pace (medium to slow-ish) especially in hindsight that there was demisexual representation and selfexploration (bi awakening) and the relationship growth was chef's kiss!

The moments they were intimate together were hot, hot, hot as well <3

I loved to get also more amazing "found family/strong friend group" moments and the whole setting around Rainbowology is so cool, I wish I had something like this in my own life!
They were all great cameos, and Levi gave such an amazing "big bro" and support character for both MCs!

I loved that a lot was properly discussed, and issues were solved (sometimes sooner, sometimes later) but I think the key-message to communicate was definitely omnipresent, what I absolutely loved!

There's an super satisfying Epilogue as well as a super cute bonus scene (extra download) that made my heart just more swoon :D

I am so happy, that I got the opportunity to get my grabby hands on an early copy!"

Check out a little high school prequel for Cass and Matt on Bookfunnel:
Read it before the book to whet your appetite or after as a sweet little dessert. Works either way! ]]>
