Okay. Hot take: Emma is probably my least favorite Austen. It may be slightly higher than Northanger Abbey, but idk.

I know, I know. Emma is one of Austen's most beloved characters. I just don't get it. She does have character development. She does learn from her mistakes. I just don't like Emma (the character) that much. And tbh [spoilers removed].

To be fair, I do like Knightley as a character. He is very reasonable, and I LOVE that he actually treated Emma like a human and didn't put her on a pedestal like other characters did. I understand that the Woodhouse family has the highest social standing in the area, but Emma should not have been allowed to be as entitled as she was (insert lack of mother figure mental rant here).

I think I may come back to Emma at some point later on in life. Maybe where I am now just isn't lending itself well to this particular Austen...
