"This was definitely lacking a bit in world building. Paradoxically, the romance though quite slow-burn also felt insta-lovey making me have to suspend my disbelief a little bit to feel their chemistry. While this wasn’t a perfect novel I still had a really good time and loved the vibes. It feels like a classic fantasy novel with medieval European vibes, an interesting but not too complicated magic system and a lovely found family aspect (sassy Elm was my favourite character and I’ve already got some theories as to how his story will progress). Will definitely pick up the sequel soon!"
