3.5 🌟 because the ending was really good and I cried.

I thought the plot could have been so good, but the writing and characters made it so hard to like.
The author wrote the characters with such immaturity that they feel like middle schoolers even when they’re seniors but they’re so experienced that it feels like it reading about adults.

Spice: there are so many mentions of sex in this book it’s actually insane. Sex is a hot topic in their friend group, and comes up in almost every conversation.
One couple have sex off page and talk about it openly.
The main character, Autumn, says she wants to wait after they graduate to have sex but her boyfriend clearly doesn’t like the idea of that and multiple times tries to get her to comply with him.

There is one detailed spice scene, but it’s very easy to skip. It is semi important to the plot.

triggers:
one character gets pregnant in high school, but decides to keep the baby.
Autumn’s mother is very openly suicidal and is in a hospital most of her high school life.
One mention of a girl only being able to have sex if she’s drunk because “something happened to her.

Spoilers will be down here:

Triggers: autumn tries to kill herself after Finny dies but is unsuccessful. She ends up in the hospital.
Autumn finds out that she’s pregnant. It’s unclear if she’s going to keep the baby or not but from my guest, I think she would have.

4.5 ⭐️
This is my highest ranked book in the Throne of Glass series so far. I tandemed read EOS and TOD which was such a fun and new experience.
I was pretty bored for the first 30% which seems like a lot but for these books it really wasn’t. I was semi confused because the plot thickens so much in such a sort amount of time and that makes it hard to follow. The plot picked up a lot after that, however, and I really connected to the characters.
The last 15% were so so good. I was not prepared for the plot twists that were thrown at me. They were nothing like I’d ever read before.

Spice: there is a major major major spice warning for
this book. There are multiple sex scenes between different couples and they range from closed door to explicit. I would recommend this book only to someone 17-18+ or a person who is comfortable with those scenes. I personally skipped over them but I did particularly read one for the review and it was very explicitly described in the physical.

Romance: aside from the spice scenes, the romance was adorable. My personal opinion is that Rowan and Aelin have no dimension to their relationship and romantic scenes fall flat in comparison to others. Aedion and Lysandra, and Lorcan and Elide had the best chemistry and they were the only ones who didn’t have sex - Just saying!

Violence: buckle up, because this is a violent and gory book. I would say that Queen of Shadows is more violent but this one is a very close second. There are multiple battle scenes where injuries are described in detail.

Demonic monsters: this series revolves around a set of demonic creatures that can’t be killed easily. I appreciated that SJM laid off the intense descriptions of the creatures in this book because it was rough in the last one.

sensitive/ uncomfortable topics: one women starts her menstrual cycle after being malnutrished for months. The same women talks about how if a previous situation would have escalated she would have been r*ped. Arranged marriage and child baring is talked about, but not essential to the plot of this book.

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
"*4.50 star rounded down to a 4 for ŷ sake.
Welcome to an official Charlotte’s BookNook book review! Make sure to go follow my YouTube channel () if you haven’t already. I post video reviews and all sorts of clean bookish content! Now let’s get this review started.

For this being my first book labeled adult romance, I was very impressed.
To sum up this book: the perfect slow burn romance with all the character development, emotional healing/growth, and life lessons ever wanted with a hint of a bodyguards life protecting a famous actor.
This book was so much more than the label put on it. There were so many amazing life lessons learned and the character development and character arcs were perfect. I can’t remember ever reading a book with such realistic people and such an entertainingly unrealistic plot. Everything became so real to me and I was engaged from page 40 on. I even set my alarm early in the morning to read more of this! It’s that good!
I loved each one of our characters except the ones that you weren’t source to love, of course.
The ending was perfect and I really wish they would’ve made a book 2 which often I don’t stand-alones.
A must read for age 15+!! (After reading content warnings)

Language: pretty much all of the main cuss words were used, but in my opinion, somewhat sparingly.
LGBTQ+: None
Romance: This is labeled as adult romance. Characters are said to have slept with each other but that’s all that’s said. Their sentence “took me to his bed is all that’s used to describe the scene. There are two kiss scenes that aren’t overly detailed physically but emotionally. A weirdo is stalking the movie star and leaves inappropriate pictures of herself as well as a message “impregnate me. As far as a book labeled adult romance, I’d say this was fairly clean. Honestly cleaner than some YA I’ve read, and the romance fit the story. I just wish the author could’ve left the spice mentions out.
Violence: two people fight for fun and one gets a dislocated shoulder that’s quickly fixed and he’s not hurt later on. A character threatens to kill others and himself but gets a happy ending.
Religious Views: a river is called “from the arms of God and people think it’s because it’s a powerful river and God collects peoples souls there. It puts God in evil light. A character on thanksgiving says “I offer thanks to whatever god or goddess you pray to. God and Jesus’s name are taken in vain.
Authority Roles: all characters are adults who learn great lessons and make dumb mistakes. Our main cast all have good hearts except one character who is bad on purpose for the story."
