This young man's slow descent into madness was one of the best reading experiences I ever had and I read 125 books every year. So much better than the Shining because it doesn't need the supernatural angle to achieve the horror created by the realism of this situation. I have read this piece 25 times at least. It is my personal favorite of all King works. It is an hour read so if you put it down after 2 days don't bother trying again. I read The Stand in 8 hours because it was too good to put down but my best friend gave up after 150 pages. Tastes are what they are I guess.
