bookshelves: investigative, police-pi-mystery, politics
I’m just so grateful that Mike Lupica has become one of the legacy authors for the Robert B. Parker Estate…He’s captured the tone, tenor, characterization and even dialogue of the original fully…It’s as Parker as the original…I look forward to each of Lupica’s Parker iterations…In “Hot Property, Rita Fiore is shot and nearly killed…Spenser, and those who are Spenser adjacent, are spurred to action to get to the bottom of the attack…More bodies pile up in relation to Rita’s attack and the pages fly…Loved it!!! ]]>

bookshelves: christian, coming-of-age, history-us, western
This is my first Leif Enger story and came to reading it as a favor of my wife, who is reading it for her book club..."Peace Like a River," is a story of a devout, single father family dealing with a precocious youngest daughter, a sickly middle son and the tragedy of the eldest son being an escaped murderer, as well as, the story of family strength, faith and love...Stylistically, it has a strong Amor Towles vibe as the family seeks to bring the eldest back to the family...Worth my time!!! ]]>

bookshelves: police-pi-mystery, investigative
I've ended up completely out of order in the reading of this Louise Penny wonderful series...Just great characters populate all the novels...In "The Cruelest Month," Chief Inspector Gamache and his team investigate a murder at a seance in Three Pines, all the while under attack from within, as some in the Surete du Québec seek revenge for Gamache's blowing the whistle on scandalous actions against the First Nation's people...Always good Stuff!!! ]]>

bookshelves: current-affairs, investigative, police-pi-mystery
Of all the James Patterson series, I have always liked the Michael Bennett stories...What's not to like about a huge Irish Catholic family...In “Paranoia," Bennett and Mary Catherine are working through their precarious pregnancy, all the while a hired, professional killer is targeting retired cops and major drug dealers...Just completely satisfying!!! ]]>

Jonathon Kellerman brings us the 40th entry in the Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis series...We've seen many great detective partners and Alex & Milo are another set involving a great pairing...In "Open Season," Alex and Milo are investigating the murder and dumping of the body of an aspiring actress. that segues into an investigation into a series of sniper kills...Just the usual great story!!! ]]>
