This book still has the snarky Murderbot narration, but what's new in this book is the occasional bit of suicidal ideation leaking through the snark, and that took a lot of the fun out of it for me. I think Murderbot needs to go to trauma therapy. I am not sure if Murderbot going to trauma therapy would be an interesting story.

Also grating was the book's approach to morality -- "we are dealing with horrible horrible people who would definitely like to kill or enslave us, but hurting people is wrong, so we're just going to fend off all their attacks without retaliation, until eventually they find a way to attack us that nearly kills us, and that will be the plot." ]]>
