THIS BOOK!!! I loved Untamed. The story that Doyle is telling, her own life story, is perfect for those who are people pleasers trying to learn how to live for themselves and navigate that life. As a recovering people pleaser myself, this book came into my possession at exactly the right time. I think the best self help books are books that you can take things from and learn from but we all take different things from books like this so it's not easy to write a review of this book. However, I will say I have started to take aspects of this book and bring them into my every day life and have learned to apprecate myself so much more. It's still a work in progress, I am still a work in progress, but with Untamed I have learned to get msyelf even closer to where I want to be. ]]>

I don't think I can talk about this book without giving a little bit of a backstory to the relationship that this book and I have. When this book came out in 2020 I was so excited for it. I had read This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet by Schwab and I was looking forward to this new relase from her so much that I had pre-ordered it. It showed up on release dated and sadly, it suffered the fate that a lot of books do for me, it went on the bookshelf with so many other to be read books.

I continued to hear wonderful things about this book and yet, I continued to put off reading it. Why? Was I worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype? Was I worried I would not like it as much as the previous duelology that I read by her. To this day, I can't tell you why I waited so long to read it. However, I am pleased to announce that I finally did pick it up as my last physical read of 2024.

I have a complicated view of this book. I am going to start off right away and say that I adore the way Schwab writes and I don't think that will ever change. Her prose is beautiful. She has a way of saying things and expressing things thorugh the written word that stay with you. I mean, I literally am still thinking about quotes from this book in April 2025 as I am writing this review. The biggest problem that I had with this novel was the story. In my head I had an idea of what I expected this book to be and I was okay with the fact that it wasn't exactly that. In fact, I had such high hopes for what would happen based off the new informtion I was learning about the story as I was reading it.

Sadly, the ending fell flat for me. I was expecting a better ended based off of the back and forth that kept taking place between two characters throughout the novel. I wanted a better ending for Addie. Not saying her ending wasn't great, I just wanted something different from it. Overall I am still glad that I read it. I just was looking for a better story. ]]>

Let's talk about Freida McFadden. I have read all three Housmaid books and overal, I have enjoyed them. They're fast, quick, and easy reads. Something that sometimes is all you need. I was not expecting to read any other books by McFadden except the Housemaid ones. However, my mom had told me this one was amazing so I gave it a shot.

This is my favorite Freida McFadden book I have read so far and it has made me want to branch out into her other novels. The great thing about her books is no matter how they actually end up, they keep you guessing throughout. When I tell you I could not stop turning the pages to find out what was going to happen, I mean it. I read this book in one day. I could not put it down.

Tricia and Ethan think they have found the house of their dreams. Upon going to see the house, they get stuck there in a bad snow storm. What transpires is so insane and I cannot tell you anything about it without spoiling the whole story. I think that was one of the best things about this book. The payoff was so mindblowing. I finsihed this book and sat there for a second taking it all in. I don't know if anything could top this novel in McFaddens backlog but I do know I will be reading her backlog now, chasing the feelings I had while reading this one. ]]>
