From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
"This one felt hard to accurately rate for me. I did have some problems with the book -- mainly, there were places where the phrasing was really awkward, the dialogue sounded too modernized for the setting -- all sorts of technical problems with the writing. It was stuff I would think an editor would usually fix. Most of the time, that would be enough to make me put down a book.

However, there were also aspects of it that I really enjoyed. The story was interesting and fast-paced. It had a good amount of action and a few good twists. I did sort of expect some of them, but enough of it was surprising to still impress me. I also appreciated Poppy's character overall. I wasn't always sure about the romance -- Hawke really annoyed me sometimes. It was irritating to me that he just didn't seem to have an off switch. He had to hit on Poppy, constantly, no matter the situation, who else was around, or Poppy's emotional state at the time. Like, come on, man, sometimes it's just not the time.

I decided to give the book 3 stars because it felt like it needed to be right in the middle. It had some issues that made me stop reading and groan sometimes, but despite that I am probably going to read the next book immediately. "

Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Pérez
"I learned so much from this book! I knew that there are inequalities still between women and men, but this book goes into great detail and lays out just how much of an impact that is having on women and society as a whole. There are so many areas of our life that are impacted because of the inequalities and data gaps that exist. Love all the data presented and the research that was put into this book.
Audiobook 9:23 hours"
