One of the only genuinely scary horror books I can remember reading! Such and eerie and interesting take on a vampire novel. I have a weird fixation on turn-of-the-century New York, and the setting just really hit for me.

Every character was (intentionally) INSUFFERABLE. Even when I was rooting for them or feeling sympathy, I was also hating them - including the baby. I also did think a lot of the reflection around Ana's character felt really heavy handed, over explained. Especially towards the end, it sort of took me out of things.

Definitely a good, creepy read though. (I knew I was in for an experience when they quoted The Mountain Goats at the start.)
