** I received an ARC from the author for an honest review **

To Curse A Knight was very entertaining, quick-paced and engaging. My only complaint is that it's not long enough! It's mostly a me problem, but I find any book under 300 pages (my ideal is 450 pages) leaves my pining for more; more details, more spice.

This is the second book in the trilogy, and it's a why choose. While Hillary was already intimate with all 3 of her men in book 1, it was all separate encounters. In book 2, we get our first threesome (which was pretty good!) and I'm hoping for even more in book 3.

If, like me, you like when boyfriends are boyfriends, you will be pleased to hear that even though we haven't crossed into boyfriend territory yet, we do get some MM action.

Plotwise, Hillary's vendetta is progressing and Kellan's issues with his father and the FBI are still up in the air. Lucky is in deep trouble, and Aaron is not out of the woods just yet! The entire book is one stressful series of events and I find myself wondering how they will manage to get their happily ever after.

Once again Flynn ended the book on a deadly cliffhanger. Thankfully, she doesn't keep us waiting for too long between releases. ]]>

I really enjoyed it and will continue in the series.
Beware though, the audiobook (pub 2022) is quite different from the kindle version (pub 2024).
The kindle version is spicier than the audiobook. ]]>

This is pure undiluted smut. No plot outside of the relationship.
MMMF with lots of drama and spice ;)
Enjoyed it! ]]>

**I DNFed this book at 51%**

I received a review copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

I am huge dark romance fan, but unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me, and here are the reasons why:

1- This book is insta-lust. At page 40ish they are already getting it on. It's not a problem in itself, it's just not for me. I like my characters to work for it.

2- Annoying ex-boyfriend trope. I can't do it. I hate that trope.

{spoiler begins}

3- The aforementioned ex-boyfriend harass the FMC, assaulting her twice in from of the MMC, and both times the MMC just threatens the ex. WTH?!? You need to take action Sir. This is a dark romance. Bare minimum is some roughing up or a few broken fingers. And the MMC is a professional boxer AND the mafia unaliver. His reason for not taking physical actions against the ex? He needs to lay low before his next championship. But you will kill and maim for the mafia the very same night?!? Nu-uh. Not buying it. He burns down the ex's car at around 45% but it's not enough...

4- MMC drops off FMC at her apartment. HE SEES HER EX STALKING HER, WATCHING HER APPARTMENT and...... HE LEAVES!!! You heard me right. He doesn't approach, or anything. Nop. He leaves.... wtf??

{spoiler ends}

5- There were quite a few typos and grammar errors etc. Some sentences are hard to read. This book has been originally published in 2023 and is now being republished. Why are there still so many errors?

Sooooo, for all these reasons, I gave up at 51%. It's not a bad book (someone needs to proof read it better though!), it's just not for me. Which is why I'm giving it 3 stars anyway. ]]>

I am very late to this party because I judge books by their cover, never reading the back cover or reviews, and this cover doesn't appeal to me at all, I must confess. It was recommended to me by quite a few trusted people though, so I finally picked it up!

I was looking for prison romance, and while Savage Lands delivered on the prison part, there wasn't any romance worth mentioning ... BUT I feel like it's gonna come later on. So I'm thinking this series is probably an extremely slow burn.

It took me a good 30% to get into it but now I am hooked and I must say, I find the lack of answers extremely frustrating. Too many secrets, not enough answers. I don't want to go into details to spoil anything, but I don't like on-going mysteries lol Good thing there are already 8 novels out (I'm not sure if the series is completed?) because I would've died from suspense otherwise.

The end completely took me by surprise and I was very disappointed with the turn it took. Don't get me wrong, I will be reading the next installment, I am way too invested not to, but I wish the characters made different decisions.

** I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job. ]]>
