Being able to read this in Andy Samberg’s voice made this book even more ridiculous. I dug it :D ]]>

It’s been an incredibly long time since I felt compelled to sit down and read an entire book in a day.

Shy Girl is incredibly disturbing, but it reels you in and doesn’t let go until the last word (not even the last word in the story; The Author’s Note was also a must-read). I feel like many women can identify with this story (loss of power or personal agency by the hand of a man), though I think some of the content would scare some folks away. It’s a tough read. However, it is a brilliant book that is incredibly well written in my honest opinion. I rated it five stars because this story will stick with me for a long while.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my eARC of this book. All opinions are my own. ]]>

We Love You, Bunny by Mona Awad
"I’m seated. The bookstore employees are scared and asking me to leave because “it’s not september 2025 yet but I’m simply too seated."

I was lucky to be sent an advance copy of We Love You, Bunny. A weird girl cannot read Bunny and not properly geek out when the follow-up novel is announced, and that’s just what I did. I may have screamed a little upon opening the package, Bunny.

That’s neither here nor there, though. The critical thing is, was it good? Does it have the same haunting weirdness as its predecessor? I want to say that it does. It may even contain more weirdness! I’m not going to get too much into the plot this far ahead of the release date, but I think those who loved Bunny will love this continuation. There are lots of bunnies, lots of confusing deaths, and lots of superb Awad writing. I’m so excited for you all to read this book! I’ll also be excited to read both of these books again closer to their release date.

Thanks to Marysue Rucci Books/Simon and Schuster for my physical copy of We Love You, Bunny. All opinions are my own. ]]>
