Interesting book, especially considering all of the investigation and time it clearly took to write this story. It's as much a story of the murders as it is of a window into American society at the turn of the 20th century. It also illuminates the stark contrasts to today of communication of information and the lack of any of that info being available to what passed as any law enforcement agency at that time.
The authors present a very reasoned conclusion after a very detailed story laying out their findings from incidents across the country. Excellent book about a very unpleasant subject. More than just true crime, it presents a somewhat hidden story and delves into the issues that put people, mostly women, into life and death situations. Fantastic book, especially if you're a baseball fan! It brought me back to my youth and the memories of checking box scores, reading the Sporting News, collecting cards, and playing the game.
