An interesting look into the other victims of the Vietnam War. The sex workers and the resulting mixed race, displaced and very often unwanted babies of these unions. The search some of these children made was all too often in vain to trace American fathers and families. It was good but it left me a little disappointed.

A well written insight into life in the turpentine trade.
Not something I’ve ever read about before. The life is hard and Swallow Hill no exception as we follow the life of Rae Lynn Cobb whose act of mercy leads her to the turpentine camp disguised as a man.
The cruel woods rider Crow makes her life a misery but the friendships forged in the camp sustain her until she makes her mind up to escape and come to terms with her past.
